I took out a trial subscription and then cancelled by e-mail. Like other reviewers on this site, I got an e-mail stating that I had to phone in.

When I did phone in, they refunded the payment that had appeared on my card after the date of my e-mail.

If you take out a trial subscription online, cancel within the first 14 days and you are covered by The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2103. E-mail notification is sufficient by law.
