Have always been more than happy with…

Have always been more than happy with these guys. Prices are usually very competitive and they are quick to get things booked in and seen to.

Appointments can sometimes overrun a bit - but in fairness that can happen anywhere, and they have a pretty reasonable seating area - so just give yourself a bit of time and enjoy an enforced break if it happens.

I've also found that if there were problems later, they have always been very quick to try to help out and assist - even if it wasn't necessarily something directly related to the work that was done.

Happy customer

I've been with Scottish Widows a good few years now, having consolidated various pensions through a Financial Adviser.

In fairness things haven't always been smooth and there have been some errors - but to their credit I have always found their people both courteous and helpful when issues have been raised, and if it's been a subject I didn't understand they have taken the time to explain it.

Occasionally we have ventured into detailed subject areas where additional advice and guidance was required - but the people I have dealt with have always been upfront and done the running around to get the information.

At times, the automated call handling systems can be a bit frustrating or counter intuitive, but it's always worked out in the end.

All in all, given their charges I'm happy with the service I'm getting and would always advise people to make sure they read up on what they are buying into, and if it's not clear then don't get frustrated but ask

Good refund policy

Was looking for a Deco mesh E4 3 set. There were a couple of options but as I already have a version 4 set, I specifically went for the advertised v4 set. Although they are meant to be backward compatible, this isn't always the case. Anyway, when they arrived the barclode on the side of the box and each of the individual units showed them to be v1 sets. Tried to synch, but could not get them to work, either as part of the network or as standalone. Returned for refund, which came through with 2 days.

Good quality, reasonably priced

Ordered 10m of Terram for a garden project. Arrived reasonably quickly and appropriately packed. Would order again from these guys, especially as you can get different sizes

Reasonably priced self assembly items

Well priced for what they are, and good assembly instructions. Bought 4 shelf cabinet, 2 shelf cabinet, and 2 drawer filing cabinet. Delivery was prompt and arrived as 2 separate things, with shelf cabinets arriving together followed by filing cabinet the following day by a different courier

I've used Groupon several times and usually it's great, but this time is dreadful

I've used Groupon several times previously and found them to be really good, but this time, I'm really not happy with what's happened, or how I have been treated so far. It started with the AA breakdown offer where you can get a sizeable voucher for a years membership. I carefully followed through the registration and purchase process, taking screenshots as I went. After a day I got my AA membership was confirmed through and my bank card was debitted. There's a minimum period of membership before you get the voucher detail sent through, and then once you have the details you have to claim the voucher within 30 days.

It was early September when I signed up, so when I hadn't heard anything by mid November I reached back out to the voucher support team to find out if I had missed it or something. They asked me for a whole load of evidence that I had signed up properly (so I was grateful I had the screenshots) and then they told me it was still being verified and would take 120 days from when my membership started. That took me to the 4th January this year. Still not having heard anything by late January, and mindful of the warning of the '30 days to claim' I reached back out again to the voucher team. They then came back and said that the voucher mail had been sent to me at the end of November, and therefore expired at the end of December.

I'm not real happy with this, especially as they were the ones who told me I wouldn't get the voucher mail for 120 days. Having received their response I went back and questioned it, asked for it to be escalated, and asked for details of their formal complaint procedure and suddenly they are not replying at all. I really am not happy at all with being treated like this.

I've had a reply within 2 hours from Groupon (as you can see below) suggesting I reach out. But the link that is included takes you to a Frequently Asked Questions page - which I was already aware of. I can't find a page there that says 'Raise a complaint about a voucher that I didn't get because it was mishandled'. If you can direct me to that, that would be great - I really would like to solve this and to be able to change this to a positive experience

**** Update 3 Mar 2025 ****

I'm pleased to say that after a number of emails and back and forth between GroupOn and VoucherCloud, this issue has now been resolved to my satisfaction - and so it's only fair that I update my review. I will still be careful in the future, but in fairness this issue is now resolved and I have to give credit to the customer support team on both sides for that.

No hesitation in recommending this company

Did lots of searching to find best prices, and although these folks were around £30 more (on an overall value of £1,600+) I was much more impressed with the ease of contact and ease of use of their website.

I had to contact them as well as we have restricted access, and again, the conversations were professional with solutions proposed that worked well.

Delivery day was today, and as expected and hoped for, all went well. Everything that was ordered was delivered, in good condition and timeframe agreed.

Definitely recommend these guys

Would definitely buy from again

So, this has been a bit of a story, with some highs and lows but Sterling have, on each occasion, tried to fix and overcome the issues which have arisen.

My story started on 6th November when I needed to get some pitch roof windows, flashing, underfelt collar and insulation collar. I looked at various sites and eventually came to Sterling as the price was pretty good and the delivery was advertised as overnight for the window and 3 days for the remaining items, except the collars which were shown as 20 days.

I contacted them via the Web contact form late in the evening to ask what the options were as I needed the items by Tue/Wed the following week. By 08.00 the next morning I had the reply from David saying the order could be fulfilled and delivered by Wed. I paid just under £800 for all the items in delivery.

The following day I got a mail from Joe advising that the collars needed to be sent from a different location but would still meet the deadline

The problem started with the courier (DX). I was pleased that it wasn't one of the other couriers available but although all the items were sent together, and they said they were going to deliver on Tuesday, nothing arrived (The depot is about 4 miles from me, but apparently the driver ran out of time and the items were scanned back into the depot). Next day, Wednesday, they delivered the flashing (bit beaten up, but OK) but no windows. Thursday they delivered one window.. Again a bit beaten up but glass is OK, and then said that other window was at the depot being checked for damage. Courier was a bit snarky and not real helpful with me, but in fairness I wasn't in the best mood either. Called back to David and overnight was arranged on a new window while DX decided whether they were going to deliver or not. New window did turn up this morning around 11 ish... Again pretty beaten up but glass appears OK. Courier shot off as quick as possible before I could answer the door.... I wanted to ask why they had flicked V's at the house when they drove past just before 08.00 this morning.... (I don't think they realised I was atop the scaffolding when they drove past and I recognised the van and the courier from the day before. But anyway, this review is about Sterling, not DX.... the positives out of this are that Sterling were truly exceptional in trying to meet the lead times, and resolve the problems that arose and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again... But I would want to pick up direct from the courier depot if it was a practical option

Fabulous people

I used to be with Avro Energy but was transferred to Octopus when Avro ceased trading. I've been with them for 3 years now and they have been consistently ahead of the competition for dealing with enquiries and for their pricing, and I love the fact they are challenging the status quo. Having them as a supplier always feels like a 'feel good' factor, and I'm always convinced that they are genuinely fighting for a better deal for customers and have a social conscience

Lots of positive reviews

Lots of positive reviews, so I kinda feel bad that my experience was very poor.

Ordered 2 items on 18th December as late Christmas gifts. Apparently got given to Evri who then said on the 20th it was delayed but they would ler know when it was going to be delivered.

Is now 3rd January and no contact or notification from Evri. Live chat says 'to approach supplier for refund'. Supplier says they will issue a refund

The thing that makes this so bad is that there doesn't seem to be any surprise about the delivery schedule being exceeded so much, about not contacting me, and it seems like customer service works on the basis of' oh never mind, here's a refund...don't get me wrong, I'm grateful about that, and I do recognise it's Christmas so logistics is difficult, but I will never buy from Findmeagift again, nor will I ever buy from a company using Evri.... All because they both seem to think that their responses to missed deliveries and lost items is good :-(

Pretty straightforward to use, but wouldn't renew

Pretty straightforward to use, and initially a competitive quote, but at renewal time became significantly more expensive. At the time I also signed up to the mileage scheme (where you could get money back if you didn't do the mileage you thought), but administration on this didn't work well, and I gave up trying to reclaim the 4% of the premium in the end (scheme has also now been closed)
