Would definitely buy from again
So, this has been a bit of a story, with some highs and lows but Sterling have, on each occasion, tried to fix and overcome the issues which have arisen.
My story started on 6th November when I needed to get some pitch roof windows, flashing, underfelt collar and insulation collar. I looked at various sites and eventually came to Sterling as the price was pretty good and the delivery was advertised as overnight for the window and 3 days for the remaining items, except the collars which were shown as 20 days.
I contacted them via the Web contact form late in the evening to ask what the options were as I needed the items by Tue/Wed the following week. By 08.00 the next morning I had the reply from David saying the order could be fulfilled and delivered by Wed. I paid just under £800 for all the items in delivery.
The following day I got a mail from Joe advising that the collars needed to be sent from a different location but would still meet the deadline
The problem started with the courier (DX). I was pleased that it wasn't one of the other couriers available but although all the items were sent together, and they said they were going to deliver on Tuesday, nothing arrived (The depot is about 4 miles from me, but apparently the driver ran out of time and the items were scanned back into the depot). Next day, Wednesday, they delivered the flashing (bit beaten up, but OK) but no windows. Thursday they delivered one window.. Again a bit beaten up but glass is OK, and then said that other window was at the depot being checked for damage. Courier was a bit snarky and not real helpful with me, but in fairness I wasn't in the best mood either. Called back to David and overnight was arranged on a new window while DX decided whether they were going to deliver or not. New window did turn up this morning around 11 ish... Again pretty beaten up but glass appears OK. Courier shot off as quick as possible before I could answer the door.... I wanted to ask why they had flicked V's at the house when they drove past just before 08.00 this morning.... (I don't think they realised I was atop the scaffolding when they drove past and I recognised the van and the courier from the day before. But anyway, this review is about Sterling, not DX.... the positives out of this are that Sterling were truly exceptional in trying to meet the lead times, and resolve the problems that arose and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again... But I would want to pick up direct from the courier depot if it was a practical option
