The DVLA are utterly useless.

The DVLA are utterly useless.
My youngest son bought a car and insured it and then went to tax it, but It has been impossible for him to tax the vehicle.
He has had the car for one month today with it sat on the drive in a situation where the DVLA demand that it must be taxed, but they have made it impossible for him to tax it.
The reference number on the new keeper slip did not work to tax it online and from what I can tell by googling this, it's a common faults (of the DVLA).
He has been told his logbook has been processed and issued, but it has still never arrived.
He has explained all this on the phone to the DVLA after a stupid wait time on the phone, given them all his details and the cars chassis number, but all they have told him is that some of the information he has given them is incorrect. They refused to say which part of the information is incorrect. What is that about? Is it some sort of silly game keeping that secret.
Who buys a car and one month later is still unable to drive it because the DVLA.
They demand he buys tax, he doesn't want to, the DVLA want him to, but they have made buying the tax impossible.
Absolutely useless!
Also while I'm at it, this whole month thing where your tax is backdated to the start of the month and so is your refund is a con as well to make money.
There is zero reason tax couldn't start from the day it's purchased and run out on that date a year later.
Useless!

Think hard before using checkatrade.

I am sorry I ever used checkatrade.
Last summer I advertised a job on checkatrade to have a part on my boiler replaced. One of the companies who responded to my job was TwinSun heating, but their quote was way too high so I did not acknowledge their response to my job, or contact them in any way.
However, since then I have not stopped being pestered by TwinSun heating. They got my phone number and email address, obviously through checkatrade and even though I have unsubscribed from their mailing list (that I never subscribed to in the first place) a number of times, they have ignored this and still continue pestering me many months later.

Repeated songs and now gambling

Myself and my work colleagues switched to Smooth radio a couple of months ago, to avoid the constant adverts and gambling on greatest hits.

The good points I like about Smooth include the minimal chatter, no stalling for time to play less music and the acceptable number of adverts.
I was also very impressed recently when Smooth started playing Christmas songs.

However, they seem to play the same songs every day without fail.
The Christmas songs have turned out to be a small number of selected Christmas songs that I hear played at least twice, sometimes three times per day. Instead of playing the same ones over and over, why not include some different ones, like David Essex Winters Tale for example?

I would also say that if you are a massive Whitney Houston and Barry White fan, then Smooth is definitely the station for you, as those artists are played extremely often!

Smooth really does seem to have a very small playlist of songs that are repeated at least every day, usually more than every day.
I was also very disappointed when Smooth recently also became a gambling radio station. The vast majority of us put the radio on to listen to music, not to start gambling.

Impossible to make an online payment…

There is a severe flaw in TSB's online payment authentication process.
I needed to place an order for Euros at a supermarkets travel money department.
I filled everything in on the website, put my bank card details in and went to pay, but a box comes up from TSB telling me they are sending me a confirmation pass code via SMS and I need to enter the code in the box. I get a floating notification indicating that I have a text message from TSB, but I then have to leave the payment page I'm on and go onto my messages to see the pass code. When I go back to enter the code, because I left that payment page, the transaction is cancelled. I go through the whole process again and TSB send me another code and I have the same problem.
The result is, it is absolutely impossible to complete the online transaction.
This has happened many times with other online payments as well.
I phoned customer services but they were no help. The lady just kept saying I need to enter the code that was sent via SMS. I kept explaining that I need to leave the payment page and go onto my messages in order to get that code and all she could say was that I need to change my phones notification settings.
I don't as it is already set to every form of notification, including floating notifications. The code is not displayed in the floating notification, you have to open your messages to see it.
The only way around this problem is by having two people involved in completing the online transaction.
I had to phone my wife and tell her to have her phone on loud speaker while she places the order using my bank card and all my details and then when I receive the code, I read it out to her for her to enter on her phone.
It is absolutely ridiculous and an extremely flawed method of authentication that has caused so many problems.
A simple question for TSB....how do I complete on online payment, when I have to leave the secure payment page to go to my SMS messages in order to get the code and by leaving the secure payment page, the transaction I was about to make is ended.

Way too many adverts and talking

Way too many adverts and too much stalling for time to avoid playing music.
Sick to death of hearing about that competition to win over 500 grand, it's more like a gambling station than one that plays music.
Nobody cares about what school teachers strangers used to have. Sick of that confession story thing, that is probably all lies anyway and people phoning in to rename song titles.
Anything to stall for time so they don't have to play much music.
If I had a more modern radio in my car greatest hits would be long gone.
Even worse than all the above though are the adverts, some of which need to come with a mental health warning, as they are so repetitive, that they could easily drive a sane person crazy.
That Trade Centre UK advert with that stupid old fashioned voice should be banned before it damages people's mental health.
UPDATE:
I've removed Greatest Hits Manchester from my car radio and our radio in work now.

We only want one Amazon account. impossible!

My wife and I only need one Amazon account. Everything we purchase is through the one Amazon account and paid for via our joint bank account.
However Amazon have made it impossible for an Amazon account to be accessed by more than one person.
Here is an example of a problem....
I want to order something off Amazon, so I log in, but Amazon wants to send a security code via text message. The code gets sent to my wife's phone, but my wife is at work. That means I can't use our Amazon account.
Like a child, I have to wait until my wife is with me to be able to buy anything or check our past orders.
The simple solution would be to be able to add another phone number and be able to choose which phone number the verification code is to be sent to. Amazon have not made this possible though.
This means I can not log into our Amazon account, check our order history, or purchase anything until my wife is there with me.
Have Amazon seriously never thought of a situation where a husband and wife, who live together and even share their bank accounts together, might both want access to one Amazon account?
If Amazon insists on sending a verification code via text message every single time I long in, would it not make sense to allow more than one phone number to choose from to have the code sent to?
I have spent hours today trying to sort this out. I even started another Amazon account of my own and tried to link them, but it turned out to be impossible.... To even try this, Amazon insisted on sending the usual security code that it's obsessed with doing, but then said too many codes have been sent, try another time.
So let me get this straight......Amazon won't let us do something without us verifying a code sent by them first.... but then they say they're not sending us that code, so tough luck.
Get a grip Amazon.
These days Married couples share a mortgage, share a bank account, share a council tax bill, share an eBay account and so on and so on, but a married couple can't share an Amazon account???

Payment online often impossible

When I make a payment online, after filling in the vast amount of details required, including card details, when I submit payment I am then told TSB needs to send me a code to authorise the payment.
I then have to go to my messages to get the code, but then when I go back to the payment page to enter the code, it's been reset and go e back to the start.
In other words, most of the time, it is impossible to make a purchase online using TSB, which is obviously a huge problem

Attaching a photo with a message became tricky

Attaching a photo to a message has become very tricky.

Before you could type a message and then add a photo and then send the message when you're ready.
Now if you add a photo, the message automatically sends as soon as you add it. This often results in sending a message that you haven't finished typing.
So you deleted that half message for everyone and try again, this time adding the photo first.....what happens then......just the photo is automatically sent without getting a chance to type a message.
It wasn't like this before. Before you could add a photo and either click the send icon, or type a message and then click the send icon.
Or you could type a message, add a photo and continue typing until you are ready to send the message.
It seems to be a trend lately with apps where the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" is ignored, in favour of "If it ain't broke, break it"

Bisley steel shelves

I purchased a couple of bisley shelves in grey for my cupboard and I am very pleased with them.
I was skeptical at first, as I recently purchased these shelves from another store and they arrived damaged and also with faulty paintwork.
However Viking direct delivered these shelves carefully and in perfect condition.
The website is easy to use and I was well informed in regards to shipping and when I would receive the shelves.

Best options for pre orders

I haven't actually completed a purchase from airspotters.com yet, however I have to say I'm impressed with their pre order option where you can pay once the pre order model is released and ready to ship.
Previously I had the Herpa 1/200 Uruguayan Fairchild 571 aircraft (the one that crashed in the Andes in 1972) on pre order with another store and had already paid upfront, but then I noticed the model was no longer listed on their website, so I thought I would send an email just to make sure everything is ok with my order. It turned out they were informed by their supplier that they won't be able to supply them with this model. I got issued a refund without any problems, but it was a good job I emailed them just to check.
I immediately went looking for another store to pre order this model from, but due my previous let down, I wasn't too keen on paying upfront again.
That's why when I noticed airspotters.com offer a pay on release option, I jumped at the chance.
I'm really looking forward to this model and after reading their good reviews, I'm quite confident I won't be disappointed this time.

Store open, but can't take returns

The Tesco superstore at Prestwich not only have the wrong price displayed on big high up display boards, for example the Famous Grouse whisky which they display at the clubcard price of £18.50 for 1 litre, which is actually £19.50 when you pay at the checkout, but they have a customer services section that closes at 9pm, while their store is open until 12am.
So there is a three hour period where the store is open, but you can't return anything to either exchange, or be refunded for.
In my opinion the store should close when their ability to provide this very basic, yet essential service ends.

Tesco needs to sort their staff out

I would like to start by pointing out we still shop at Tesco, as overall it's the better option for us to get most of the shopping we need. However, the way things are going with out local stores, that is probably going to change.
The Cheetham Hill superstore is run extremely poorly. Almost always a problem getting a trolly and on most visits, the shelves are just empty in many areas. Difficulty ever finding bananas there, where the Richmond sausages should be is just empty, then onto where the eggs should be....empty, no eggs in a Tesco superstore can you believe. Barm cakes/muffins, none there, just empty shelves. All this is in one visit, but it's often like this.
Overall the whole store seems very disorganised, right down to an often inadequate number of tills being open, so there are massive queues at the couple that are open.
On visiting the Cheetham Hill store, you would think there has been some panic buying going on or something with the amount of empty shelves there are where products should be.

YouTube making fun of their users now

Can't wait until YouTube becomes a thing of the past.
Listen YouTube, when you start taking the Micky out of people by putting a skip countdown on an advert, but there actually never was a way the skip the advert and the advert ends when the skip counter gets down to zero, people realise your just trying to wear them down, in the hope that they pay a subscription.
As a member of the public, let me tell you that all you are doing is destroying yourself when you start making a fool out of people like that.
I hope you take note of this review, because I have a feeling that one day you will be looking at what ruined you.
A word of advice for the time being....DO NOT put a skip countdown on an advert that can't be skipped.
All you are doing is throwing egg in the face of your users and believe me, that will not end well for YouTube.
