Travelled on Iona 20/12/25-3/1/26 .
Throughout the cruise there were a number of unruly guests from the travelling community. Over the course of the trip they had made threats, behaved aggressively and ruined a number of cruisers experience.
Best highlighted in them jumping in the pool on NYE and refusing to get out. This resulted in security doing absolutely nothing and the evenings entertainment being cut short.
Head of security Steve Hope was present and witnessed all of this and I observed his lack of response and any guidance towards those security staff under his command. At one point he was making hand gestures towards them akin to jazz hands and I can only assume he had no clue on how to respond to the incident. Captain Allen ultimately being in charge of the ship had failed to act throughout the cruise to curtail the issues and as a result of his non action and non action by head of security Steve Hope people were left to feel threatened, intimidated and unsafe as the individuals concerned carried on causing havoc .
I won’t travel with P&O again as it’s clear they have no idea on passenger safety and disorder control.
Both the captain and head of security clearly cannot fulfil their responsibilities to crew and passengers and need to be held accountable for their lack of action .
