I had an excellent experience buying my car. Ellie was friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the whole process. Great customer service - would recommend

There are 3 garages:
Garage A: A used car sales business.
Garage B: An MOT testing and repair garage.
Garage C: An MOT testing and repair garage.

I visited Garage A to view a car that I was interested in. I was assured by the salesman that the vehicle would receive a full service and new MOT prior to collection and that all 6 defects and advisories highlighted on the previous MOT certificate would be rectified. Following these assurances and an agreed collection date to allow time for the repairs, a new MOT and a service, I paid a deposit.

A new MOT certificate was issued by Garage B dated the very same day that I paid the deposit. This new MOT certificate did not show any of the defects and advisories from the previous MOT. The said vehicle had covered only 217 miles since the previous MOT.

So the said vehicle was driven to Garage B, which had all of the necessary parts to rectify the defects and advisories in stock, then repair and MOT the vehicle ON THE VERY SAME DAY!

On the day of collection, I asked a salesman if the advisories on the previous MOT had been repaired, as agreed. He confirmed that they had.

Following collection, I began to have concerns that the MOT may be false as it was completed and a PASS certificate issued almost immediately following my payment! I therefore submitted said vehicle, at my own expense, for a further independant MOT at Garage C.

Having covered just 96 miles since the previous MOT, the said vehicle passed its MOT at Garage C but all of the defects and advisories that were present on the first MOT but which were NOT present on the second MOT from Garage B, miraculously reappeared! An MOT should check for dangerous wear, damage, or mechanical failure in critical components. Contrary to the assurances that I had been given by Garage A, the defects and advisories had not been repaired!

In conclusion, it appears that salesmen at Garage A, not wanting to spend any profit, colluded with the tester at Garage B to issue a false MOT PASS certificate for the said vehicle without repairing it and probably without even testing it. No-one from Garage A would be driving or taking their children to school in said vehicle so they could not care less if the vehicle was safe or not. They obviously assumed that in twelve months time at the next MOT, when the defects and advisories re-appeared, they could deny all resposibilty.

You must be thinking that Garage A is a rogue, back-street, fly-by-night setup. In fact, Garage A is none other than Alisons Automotive Group (also known as Alsons Group Ltd), Berkeley Heath A38, Berkeley, GL13 9ET and is, would you believe, AA APPROVED!

Garage B, the MOT testing garage, is Grovesend Garage, Gloucester Road, Thornbury, Bristol, BS35 3TU.

Garage C is a reputable, independant MOT testing and repair garage in Ross-on-Wye.

Unbelievable?

Proof that I am not the one who is lying is available on the Government vehicle MOT website, from the DVSA Intelligence Unit and from the AA.

So, are Alisons Automotive Group (also known as Alsons Group Ltd) Underhand? Conniving? Deceitful? Untrustworthy? What do you think?

Some questions for all you 5 star reviewers: When you collected your shiny car from the smiling Alisons Automotive Group salesman, were you also given a new 12 month MOT certificate? Was it legitimate? How do you know?

Took my father’s BMW to this garage as a light lit up on the dashboard. Very efficient and honest. The issue was explained thoroughly and options which were available to solve the issue. Most garages will just try and get you to spend the most money when it’s not needed! I Will be using this garage from now on. Thank you!

I had a great experience in dealing with Ellie and the team here, I have bought cars in the past from the previous company that was on the same site.

I promised to write a review as soon as I got home but as you all know, none of us have time to write a review when everything was good, yet always find the time when things don’t go to plan. However I bought a Mercedes GLA that was several years old and had done more than average miles and yes sadly it had an issue after purchase (but instead of shouting and yelling) I asked them to work with me to resolve it because my family really liked the car! This was received the right way and in dealing with the general manager the issues were resolved in a fair amount of time, to a high standard and I’ve had no concerns since! I had a follow up call from Ellie to check everything was ok three days after which I wasn’t expecting, but a nice touch.
Would I have found the time to write the nice review in the first place if nothing had gone wrong? Sadly I probably wouldn’t have, however if you ask me judge them on how my issue was resolved then I have to give Ellie especially 5 stars thank you

What a pleasure it been to deal with this company from start to finish really friendly staff really happy to help me at any time started with a call from Matt we spoke an sorted a plan that suited me took some time but he couldn't do enough for me went an picked my car up today matt was on a day off so had the pleasure of meeting Ellie really friendly girl who was ready to answer any questions I had made my afternoon an enjoyable one and we spoke alot myself an my partner got all we needed to do done took car for a test drive made me want it even more when it time for a new 1 I will be going back to Alisons Automotive made this experience of buying a car really easy great team great car really happy thankyou

I bought a x5 bmw from lia she was great to deal with friendly and helpful there was a few things I wanted done to car I wanted 2 new tires service and mot she had it all done and even got me 4 tires and a mop and polish car looked great would definitely recommend this company thanks again lia

This garage is the former Autotrade South West. Before buying a vehicle from them, I strongly recommend doing your own research and reading reviews from previous customers.

My personal experience was extremely disappointing. I purchased a car that I later discovered had allegedly been clocked by around 12,000 miles. Getting my money back was a long, stressful, and difficult process.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend buying a vehicle from this garage. Do your homework, read the reviews, and make an informed decision before parting with your money.

Lia made the buying experience simple, appreciated the help and information

They were very friendly with no pressure.
I had a small problem with air conditioning they booked me in straight away. The lady in the sales office was phenomenal and kept us relaxed and at ease whilst the finance was arranged.

Customer Service prior to buying vehicle was very good and on the day of buying vehicle (suprise suprise) however 4 weeks after buying still waiting on log book despite numerous phone calls and emails regarding this. I am now going to be charged an admin fee when I renew my insurance due having to register on current plate then to change it over (admin fee) when I eventually do receive. Apparently they are batch posted as opposed to doing online there and then with customer which is crazy in this day and age and the postal service being poor. Need to update these archaic methods
