1200 pounds on a asus gaming laptop

1200 pounds on a asus gaming laptop, constant issues on it powering up, but it did in the end until it finally wouldn't power on. It's 14 months old. Had an engineer diagnose it as a motherboard fault. Contacted asus who told me they make really robust products but it was out of warranty. Unbelievably it had only a 1 year warranty which is legally a statutory minimum and this must be via the retailer under consumer rights. Email from Asus described the 1 year warranty as how confident asus were in their products. Well I have products such as my oled TV which came with a 5 year warranty... which does give you faith in the manufacturers confidence. I've probably had around 10 laptops as I'm in my 50s, all the others still work, no issues. I won't touch asus again for monitor's, cards, pc components.

False Sales Promotions

The products are good, but they've run a 'Rate My Gear' promotion designed to gather positive reviews, with a promise of cashback. Asus got the positive review, but they never paid the cashback. Fraudsters!

Worst loyalty program ever

A few years ago I discovered that ASUS has a loyalty program. They called it ROG (Republic of Gamers).

I thought: "why not?". I registered. I entered the serial numbers of my ASUS products. I participated in all the activities available to me that the company organised. I visited their website every day.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend anyone to repeat my experience. Why?

1) For several months I had problems with their website. I found temporary solutions on my own, but they worked every other time. At some point, I despaired and contacted the technical support. They listened to me and promised to contact me as soon as they find out something. I am still waiting for their answer (since August 17, 2022)...

2) The levels and points accumulated for participating in the program burn out after a year. I wanted to spend it on something I'm really interested in, and ended up losing almost everything. That is, participating in ROG you will have a difficult choice: just lose points or spend them on nonsense. You will be disappointed either way.

3) Rewards rarely appear, are expensive and sell out quickly (sometimes in a few hours). ASUS warned me a month ago that I would lose points. So I began to come twice a day to get at least something. During July, only such awards appeared: merch that was not interesting to me (which was instantly sold out) and a game that was not interesting to me (I could not get it either. It needed to take through a site that is not available in my country).

Dear ASUS. You have gotten your points back. Please tell me now how can I get back the time I spent on you?

Just Disgusted - avoid like the plague!

I wish I could give zero stars. Disgusted, sent a one month old (so virtually brand new) ASUS £500 Monitor to their repair "Partner" with all the original cables, box and paperwork and they sent me back a 2 year old refurbished product covered in cosmetic damage with no cables or anything, not even in a box designed for the unit. If I had wanted a refurbished monitor I would have bought one a month ago instead of this. This is what ASUS Warranty looks like? I can't even now go back to the original retailer and ask them to replace it with a new one, as I now don't have what I originally purchased. Until this point I had been quite happy with ASUS products but this is beyond a joke. Feel like I have been robbed, stay away they will have your pants down. No joke, I am furious! and they will most likely make money selling my unit on to someone else.

Laptop boke twice in less than 1 year, arranging collection for repairs is a nightmare

Bought a £900 laptop that has had to be sent for repairs twice within one year. Their customer service is good on the phone but their chosen method of pick up for repair is awful. The use DPD and they do not tell you beforehand what time they are going to pick up the parcel (it has to be in person). Twice they have told me less than half an hour before the actual delivery time and I could not arrange to be there in person in time because I have a full time job and cannot just sit around all day for a parcel pick up with no specified time. The time cannot be changed, only the day. So you essentially need to be free the entire day to have the parcel collected. Wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing. Awful. Feel so bad spending so much on something that's caused me so much grief. Would not recommend.

On their asus app there is no support…

On their asus app there is no support for internet routers. If you manage to contact them somehow they are only sending you some general information which is not help.
Update.
Asus is lying about their 3 years warranty on routers.
I have validated the extended 3 years warranty on teir website, but they are not standing up for it.

Please note that different product have different warranty types and periods. For such products (components, accessories and networking), the warranty applies trough your retailer, not directly to you as end user, therefore, if you would like to take advantage of your warranty, I can only suggest that you contact your place of purchase for further assistance in regards to repair/replacement procedures, strengthened by the fact that you did not acquired the unit directly from ASUS, but trough a seller.

I bought 4 month ago proart from Asus…

I bought 4 month ago proart from Asus web page and it has come some problem and we sent it back to check and they told me I was right and I asked full refund instead of repair because I bought new pretty expensive hardware and don't want repaired laptop so asked fully refund it's passed 2 months still they couldn't manage either my money back or anything..when I am asking costumer what's going on they replying I mean service said that it's different company and online web is different company and they told me those Asus west company needs to create credit then they can refund which is not my problem Asus using 3 part company for CS ,online is another company and so on. its all seems there is no organisation inside ..

Should have checked ASUS reputation before buying

I will need to spend more time checking things on Trustpilot, 1.9 stars is still about 1.9 star too much for this joke of a company, and customer support is rather rude and pointless (you deal with an automated system, not sure why they're even there...) Bought a Scar 17 laptop, wireless card broke down twice now, first repair was a proper mess, and took about a month (yes, a month to swap an M.2 card...), the service broke the ribbon cable (RGB underneath the laptop), then managed to brake a hinge. £1700 for a poor-quality product... Should have stayed with MSI...

Faulty PC so organised a return online, courier arrived and didn't have the right size box to take the PC.
I emailed Asus to tell them and they said I had to book another collection day! If I hadn't contacted them I would have still be waiting. Non-existent customer service. Inefficient, apathetic company. Avoid.

Great Laptop (UX393EA) - Until it needed a repair

Laptop WAS great...Until it needed a repair

ASUS Warranty and Extended Warranty not fit for purpose in my opinion/experience

Motherboard developed a fault. 18 December I returned it for warranty repair, and they replaced the drive with a slower one? Refused to believe me it needed a new motherboard.

2 hours after it was returned to me, I reproduced the original error and organised another warranty repair. 23 Jan the laptop came back with a new Allegedly a motherboard and new Touchpad (I guess the original was damaged during the repair as it was working flawlessly. Later after the 4th attemopted repair, ASUS confirmed they had not in fact replaced the motherboard. On this occasion I immediately noticed the keyboard backlight was no longer working. Spoke to support, spent 2 hours carrying out troubleshooting, they advised and reported back to them to say it had not helped,

Now .... nothing.

I have had one email saying take it back to Currys to get a refund or repair? The laptop is over 2 years old, on extended warranty that I purchased directly from ASUS, so my contract is with ASUS and not Currys.

They won't reply to subsequent emails
When i call tech support I am told the issue has been raised to 2nd line support (for a faulty backlight??) and that I can't speak to 2nd line I have to wait until they write to me.

I have suggested given their apparent inability to effect a repair without causing more damage an issues that they consider replacing the laptop with something comparable that hasn't been disassembled by the repair shop multiple times. Having read their 1st email above, I am not sure they understood this request.

I spent £1600 on a premium laptop, around £140 on an extended warranty, and after 6 weeks, I still don't have a fully working laptop. There is no point in trying to use it while I wait for them because it will be reformatted again when/if returned for repair.

Given the poor performance of the Warranty repairs I can't recommend anyone purchase an ASUS laptop, or their extended warranty, which is a shame as until this experience, I was very happy with the laptop.

Update
After 4 repairs over 4 months including 4 replacement SSD's (all working and not in need of replacement), ASUS agreed to refund me the original cost of the Laptop. To be honest I woud ahve preferred the repair to 4 months with no laptop but this was much appreciated.

HP laptop never repaired under warranty

HP laptop with faulty fingerprint sensor.
Returned 4 TIMES for repair.
Still not fixed
Now out of warranty 'Sorry there's nothing we can do'.

So now I have a faulty laptop that should have been fixed, but is broken, now the warranty has run out.

I paid a lot of money for what should be a quality laptop.

HP should fix this broken laptop, as they did not fix it in warranty.

Abysmal Customer Service

Abysmal Customer Service

Sack Andrei who hung up on me at 14.43 28DEC22. Too lazy to assist at all and could not be bothered to even listen as computer locked up on ProArt Creator Hub so you could not install the update. A waste of a 20 minute phone call. He also lied and never sent me the email that was supposed to have the support information.

I made a second call to ASUS and spoke to Alex. After 35 minutes he is sending the appropriate documentation as unlike Andrei he looked on his documentation and this fault has not been reported before. I would have wasted my time had I believed what Andrei said.

The computer would have to be sent back for repair. Defective upon receipt.

Had I been a total novice I would have wasted hours of my time after receiving non-information from ASUS/Andrei. Lacking in basic Customer Service.

No file to upload as computer/screen locked and not able to do a screen shot of it at all.

Update:- So much for ASUS CS. Nothing from them at all not even the info promised to do a return.

Dreadful after sales service

I bought an Asus Vivo from Currys on 6/9/22. On 19/11/22 it would not turn on or charge, so I returned it to Currys on 20/11/22, They told me they had to return it to Asus for repair and that it would take about 21 days. I returned to Currys on 13/12/22 to ask about progress. The computer was still at Currys despite Asus telling them on 3 occasions that they would pick it up. I rang Asus and they confirmed that Currys had booked the computer in for repair on 22/11/22. Asus tell me that 3 collections had failed (!) and that Currys had chased/rebooked it in again on 8/12/22 and that it was due to be collected again later today. It will them take 21 days (plus Christmas, no doubt) for it to be repaired. That means almost 2 months (if Asus do actually collect it as they say) since I retuned it to Currys. I believe Currys have done their best

Horrible Customer Service

I bought an Asus motherboard. Straight away I started a case because it is faulty. This case still going on, More than 2 years and Asus keep me waiting, not answering, give me false information... Horrible Customer Service. Horrible company. I am extremely disappointed.

Noticed a worrying trend on here of people moaning that their product died or that they downloaded something and it broke their device... That's on you... In the case of hardware failure, get in touch with ASUS, and in the case of the download, sounds like a user has downloaded a virus.

Anyway, I have amassed a bunch of ASUS hardware over the years including an original XP Eee PC NetBook. But I write this review following the help from support with my monitor. At just under 3 years old the screen started to display lines over the bottom half of the screen. They would fade away eventually, like some hideous warm up requirement.

For those seeing the same problem it was the XG49V Curved Ultra Wide. As someone who works in tech I did some troubleshooting expecting the issue to be a dying graphics card or a dodgy graphics driver or a dodgy port... For each test the issue would continue. Testing took a while as this would only happen if the screen had not been on for a few hours.

After much Googling I found a single thread on the ASUS forum about people suffering the same problem and unable to diagnose it. Some speculated it was moisture on the internal electronics that would evaporate and others were mentioning potential dodgy soldering. No matter what, I checked my Warranty status and was in luck.

Why the missing star?
So ASUS bent over backwards initially to help me and find out all they could and then offered a replacement... But only if I sent the dodgy unit first. Now, I wouldn't have minded this as I can work from my laptop directly for work and I can do without my PC for a few days but the kicker was they wanted me to package the item myself in a way that it won't get damaged. Again, I wouldn't have minded that if this was a standard screen form factor... Which it isn't.

The 49" curved screen is not something you can just pick a packaging box up for at your local Costco, and I even tried asking Curry's but they don't have boxes that size. After discussing the warranty with an awesome and helpful support guy I suggested they send the new one and I can just use the same box to send it back. As that box would have the curved polystyrene to protect the screen. There was some debate about this over a couple of weeks (and there is the missing star) but ultimately ASUS accepted this and as of today my new screen is in place and the old one is in a box awaiting pickup...

I'll update on if anything comes out of the old screen going back... As sometimes companies try a fast one by claiming issues don't exist during testing. Thankfully I have a lot of photos showing the screen issue over time.

You don't get what they advertise!!!

Marked down to 3 stars for poor Customer Service, and another knocked off for refusing to publish a legitimate review on their website.
Asus, If you can't take criticism - don't ask for an honest review!!

Asus Zenbook UX3402

Great little laptop, but be warned - you don't get what you see.
It may seem petty, but its a point worth noting.
All advertising of this model (UX3402) on the ASUS website (and on Currys/Argos etc) suggests the touchpad doubles up as a number keypad when activated.
IT DOESN'T!!
I contacted Asus to ask if there is some way to activate it and I got a straight no!!
I challenged Asus on this and they say its an option.
I asked where on their website it states that its an option. I was told its an option on different models. I asked which models because I was specifically looking at the UX3402 and it was clearly shown in all advertising material - I was then told its spec dependant on the model. I asked which Spec as I had spent over £1000 on the top of the range spec of this model. I was then told it's not an option YOU, the end user can choose - its an option that the retailer has to choose!!?? Go figure.
Its utter BULL - as if Currys are going to place an order and spec out different models with options. They buy x amount of different standard specs (512gb/1Tb, i3/i5/i7 processors etc - not does it have a number pad built in)
Customer Service haven't got a clue what they are on about. The guy was just jumping from one excuse to another. I seriously hope I don't have any issues with this Laptop because I am not convinced that Asus will be of any help or use in resolving. Its also false advertising (now reported to Trading Standards) My advice based on their Customer Service is steer clear. That aside, if you're happy to spend a grand and take a chance - go for it, its a great laptop.

I've had my GL702-vm for about 5 years…

I've had my GL702-vm for about 5 years now and have never had a problem with it so I'm surprised by the negative reviews on here for Asus. The fact I repair laptops for a living may have something to do with my positive experience but the GL702 has been a superb machine. The only problem I've had is that the casing at the top of the screen has started to open but superglue solved that problem and, to be fair, it's had many thousands of open and close actions over the 5 year period.
I have also bought my son a 15" Tufbook with an i and a RTX 3070 in and this has also been a great machine that he uses most days, no overheating problems, not loaded with bloatware, just a solid gaming laptop that runs a VR headset with ease.
Customer service was great when I spoke to them about 4 years ago and helped right away with driver issues for a 3rd party DVD re-writer. All in all a very positive experience.
