Great tool for books writing/formatting! The possibilities are limited, so it is only for high-content books, fiction or non-fictions, but not really for book that require more creative formatting/layout.

You pay once and get all the future updates, no hidden extra fees. And the customer service is amazing: responding and solving my problem on Sunday!

Wonderful customer service!

Atticus has a learning curve, but once learned outpaces any other software. The two books that I published for a family member were written in Atticus, and each one took less time than using less dedicated software. Great time-saver for proofing and final edits. Thanks to the Atticus developers.

This is an incredibly easy tool... very intuitive and the support is stellar!

I find that I always receive prompt and helpful advice. Some things work, some don't - that's the nature of a new learning experience. But I find that Atticus always keep trying to help you find a solution. And as I become more familiar with how the site works, the process gets easier and easier. Sometimes its convenient to say it's a problem with Atticus, when I find it's more that I haven't bothered to put the time in to grasp how it works. Don't be afraid of a learning curve. It's where a sense of achievment comes from. Certainly, I have found the final product is much more polished and professional-looking than I have found on other do-it-yourself formatting sites.

As with all new software programs, there is a learning curve. With the help of Ruth and David from support, I was able to format my first book. I am very excited to hone my skills with this awesome program, especially knowing I have the full support of the team at Atticus!

Atticus is an easy platform to use, and I absolutely love it! I have only needed Customer Support two times in the past 7 months. When I did, the Support was excellent. I hear back from real human beings who are knowledgeable. And the solutions they provide are specific, clear and comprehensive. Unlike many companies that just want to clear the queue, Atticus Support makes you feel like they truly want to help you solve your problem. They are awesome!

I had never written a book before. What began as a simple idea, a book for my granddaughter, who is now nine years old, about our family history and my memoirs, turned into a far larger journey than I ever expected.
Nine months ago, I assumed this would be a straightforward project. I honestly thought I could finish it in a couple of months. I quickly learned how wrong that assumption was.
At the beginning, I struggled with the basic tools I thought I knew. Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Acrobat Reader simply were not designed to handle a long-form book project. Once the manuscript grew past twenty or thirty pages, things became clumsy, frustrating, and inefficient. Formatting issues multiplied, files became unwieldy, and the joy of writing started to slip away.
Frustrated, I began searching for dedicated writing software. I tried several of the most popular tools available, but each one came with a steep learning curve or an interface that felt overly complex and unintuitive. Over and over again, Atticus appeared in my searches. Eventually, I decided to give it a try.
To my surprise, it met everything I was looking for.
Atticus was easy to use from the very beginning. Writing, editing, and formatting felt natural instead of technical. The tutorials were excellent, both on YouTube and built directly into the software. Moving chapters, creating Parts, changing themes, and organizing book sets were all simple and intuitive. Instead of fighting the software, I found myself writing every day and genuinely pleased with what I accomplished.
The software itself is excellent, but what truly sets Atticus apart is their support team.
Whenever I ran into a problem, usually one I had created myself, help was easy to get. The support request form is embedded right in the software. I would submit a request and almost always receive a response within a day, often sooner, with a clear solution. On one occasion, I accidentally deleted a chapter. Because I had been backing up properly, I sent them the JSON file and within a day the chapter was fully restored. That level of support is rare.
Before retiring, I worked as a Software Sales Engineer and dealt with major corporate systems and clients, including PeopleSoft, Honda, and Hilton. Based on that experience, I can honestly say Atticus is better designed, more intuitive, and better supported than many enterprise-level software platforms I worked with during my career.
Thank you for making my journey into the writing world such a positive and rewarding experience. This book means more to me than I can easily express, and I know it will leave a lasting impression on my granddaughter.

Fantastic Atticus software and the support is phenomenal! Highly recommend!

I'm blown away by the fast and efficient customer service provided with this product. My problem arose on a Sunday morning and, although I fully expected a response, I totally did not expect the fast response I got within 15 minutes. And, the C/S person stayed with me through various trial and error attempts to solve it that we engaged in for at least an hour. Of course, my issue was eventually sorted out and I was able to accomplish my work goal for the day. I appreciate the Sunday morning service at my desk!

I love Atticus. I just started using it to format my books a year ago. The first book had a learning curve and support was there to help me. They are crazy quick at responding and getting me on track. Now my second book is so easy. I would and have recommended Atticus to other writers. It’s a great tool.

Atticus has completely transformed my writing and book-preparation process. What was once a stressful, time-consuming nightmare is now one of the most enjoyable parts of the journey. Preparing and formatting books for both print and digital formats (including KDP) is not only easy with Atticus but it’s genuinely fun to use!

The variety of layouts and formatting styles is fantastic, the platform is intuitive and user-friendly, and the learning curve is refreshingly quick and painless. Everything simply works the way you want it to, and it’s worth every penny.

Equally impressive is the Atticus support team. Every time I’ve reached out for help, I’ve received fast, friendly, and knowledgeable responses, even on a Sunday! Most recently, Kat from the help team was amazing, and I’ve also had excellent experiences working with Lizzie in the past. Each interaction left me feeling supported and confident moving forward.

I am currently using Atticus for writing my second book - my experience with the first one was effortless and smooth. As a complete novice, I did not know what to expect, but using the software came intuitively and I was able to format my book beautifully for print and epub and self-publish it. I had two minor issues which support resolved in no time - simply learning the little things that make a big difference. I enjoy a lot of creative freedom when it comes to formatting, and with Atticus I am able to fully unfold my creative expression. Totally worth the money for me - I cannot wait to write/design a bunch more books!

I am a new writer, and totally panicked trying to weave through. I got stuck, and stucker. Then I reached out to support, and did not expect an answer immediately, but got one shortly after I wrote, same day. Kat was awesome, talked me off the ledge, got me going, and the pages and uploaded cover look great. I write both Novellas and a "Daily" which comes out monthly, and both were so much easier in Atticus. The Daily is going to be particularly easy as it is the same monthly template, I just run with it. What is particularly helpful and comforting when you are trying to work, is that when I get stuck, I can write to the person who responded to me. Some program require you go back on line and respond again there, getting someone else whom you have to bring up to speed. This is huge for me, so much easier to get the work done, going and satisfying. Kat in particular is very supportive, knowledgeable and helpful. She tells me all the time she is "available" if I need. Again, that is key, and so helpful. Great product. Excellent product support.

Excellent staff and platform

There’s many things that has made my experience with Atticus and their support team phenomenal!

From the prompt, detailed and personalized responses (whether it’s the same person who you initially received an email correspondence from or the next representative, they will help one another get your answer to you as effectively and efficiently as possible.

The platform in itself is self explanatory and truly useful for all levels of authors ( from beginners like myself to those more seasoned authors I’ve come across reviewing Atticus on YouTube).

I have minor things I’d like them to adjust like individualizing settings for each chapter or title as necessary and line spacing and specific font sizes.

All in all truly a great way to create your interior design layout for your book!

While it took a little while for me to figure out the software, when I sent a question to their support, they got back to me within a few hours. It all made self-publishing so much easier!

Atticus is well worth the money. I have been able to format properly three books. Their help desk is outstanding with extremely rapid turnaround for responses. The help folks are always patient, courteous and full of encouraging ideas.

Atticus is a solid tool for basic formatting and straightforward layouts. It’s easy to use and gets the job done for standard manuscripts or simple self-publishing needs. However, if you’re looking to produce a creative, premium-quality book—with custom title pages, nuanced control of headings, illustrations, or advanced print layout—Atticus is limited. It’s a great place to start, but not the final stop for authors aiming for truly professional or artistic results.
