Atticus is a terrific easy-to-use platform for formatting one's book. I signed up two years ago before I self published my environmental fantasy because it does all the "heavy lifting" for you. In the last two weeks I've been recording the audiobook and made a few minor changes to the manuscript and had to update Atticus. Since it had been two years since I used the platform, I'd forgotten how to download a PDF and an epub file. When I sent an email to their customer service, I received an answer in less than two hours!

The formatting crosses to Amazon seamlessly. When I asked a question, on Sunday , no less, the helpful answer was back in a couple of hours.

This is great software for writing, and especially if you are planning on uploading and formatting a book on your own, which can be confusing if you don't have the right software. I've had to deal with customer service a few times and they have always come through and it's a human answering your questions, which I appreciate. I would highly recommend this software. Thank you for a good experience.

I am 82 years old and have been I the Tech field for over 50 years, I am writing a book about my life and tried Atticus.io. My original writings are in Word, I had a difficult time getting the hang of Atticus.io. There was nothing wrong with the program just my ability to conform to the rules of the program. Old dog's new tricks.

Atticus is awesome. As with any software there's a bit of a learning curve but between the online tutorials and faqs and the rapid response support team it's a quick and relatively painless process.

What it does is convert your properly formatted docx file into a slickly formatted ready-to-publish book file. The most important formanting issue is to make sure you have a page break at the end of each chapter and your chapter headings are "Heading 1" in Word. With that simple prep your file will be good to go in Atticus.

Import your file and choose from several existing style templates or, with a little extra effort, create your own custom style template. Once you learn all the little adjustments you can make, you'll be able to format your books quickly and easily and whip out custom templates if you want.

Once formattted, you can export the file in several specific formats to submit to every major online publisher.

It took me exactly two weeks to master the program, taking my Word file to Amazon as a paperback, hardcover and kindle. All three passed Amazon's muster the first time without requiring changes - a first for me.

I also figured out how easy it is to create my own custom templates, which I'll utilize when I publish my next book.

If you're having the kind of nightmare problems I had with my earlier books, having to deal with constant hiccups in the transition from Word files to online publishing, give Atticus a try.

Be a little patient as you learn the app. If you can't figure something out via the tutorials just contact support. I did so maybe half-a-dozen times and they were quick to reply, getting me on track with little delay.

The price of the program is well worth the time you'll save and the hassles you'll avoid as you make books that look like they were published by a legit publisher.

Every book is different and every page of every book is different.

If you can't do something that you want to do, just ask and they will gladly help you out.

I have been with Atticus for a while now and have published three books using their software. I have found the platform to be really user-friendly and flexible. It took a short time to get used to it, but my hand was held all the way with such great customer service. Any issues I had were dealt with quickly and efficiently, in a helpful way. I never had to wait more than six to eight hours for a response, and I am in the United Kingdom time zone! Atticus is my new writing buddy, and it turns my work into sensational-looking books!

The people here are awesome. Totally responsive, totally friendly and totally helpful for any of the help questions I've had. Excellent software that functions as advertised and absolutely AMAZING customer service. I've had questions twice, and I've gotten answers that addressed my issues in minutes after submitting a customer service request.

No new-to-me system is without bumps and restarts. I wrote my book on Google Drive and transferred it to Attticus for the final editing, formatting, and rewrites. This took much longer than I expected, and that's all on me. I made one major formatting error and when I finally decided to get help, Atticus responded quickly. How bad was it? My first contact had to escalate me up the chain. Still, I had the right answer in under three days and it's full steam ahead. Do go through all the tutorials. It will save you time. Do keep one copy of your book in addition to the saved copy. My compounded errors meant I had to retype the rather lengthy Appendix. Having said all of that, I love the typestyle and formatting options. I have found working on Atticus to be relatively easy. The directions for photo uploads were excellent. All in all, I will continue to use Atticus for my next books. Thank you to Bre and Riley at Atticus.

I've transitioned from using a publishing company to using a writing coach, and I've replaced both with Atticus. I have control over formatting through the publishing process. The system isn't perfect, but their customer service is responsive and helps to resolve any issues.

These wonderful folks are always quick to respond and work hard to solve problems. Every problem I bring to them gets resolved quickly and efficiently. Kat has been especially attentive. I can't praise them enough!

I’ve never experienced customer service like I’ve received from Atticus. Even though I had a complex issue that went on for quite a while, their support team never gave up. They stayed in daily contact, gave clear directions about what information they needed from me, and always followed through on every promise — whether it was fixes, workarounds, or back-end adjustments I could barely explain.

Jaelynn was absolutely incredible. Unlike many tech companies I’ve dealt with while learning different writing tools, Atticus support never fobbed me off or sent me to dense, unhelpful guides. They genuinely worked with me until the problem was solved.

As for the product itself — Atticus gives a truly professional result. Formatting in Kindle Create feels clunky and looks amateurish by comparison. Atticus is flexible, easy to use, and has features that make your book look like it’s been professionally typeset. I especially love the Master Pages and the live preview options (once I realised the print preview was there — that one was my mistake!).

There’s room for improvement in the help system — searching for a specific issue like “where is the call-out box button?” can be tricky, and you often have to watch several videos to find what you need. That said, their tutorial videos are excellent: clear, practical, and easy to follow step-by-step.

Atticus is excellent value for money and continues to improve all the time. My second (prose-only) book formatted and exported flawlessly. The team even made it possible for me to send feedback directly to Dave Chesson, who personally replied — which says everything about how this company values its users.

I need book formatting software which can split footnotes between pages, so I got into contact with Atticus' customer service to find out whether Atticus could do this. Within an hour I received a reply, that they were passing my question to another person (Ruth), who very shortly afterward got in touch with me and answered my question. No wasted time waiting for an answer.

So far, I have not seen any other software that rivals Atticus regarding its various functions, template capabilities, pricing, and prompt, friendly support.
In addition, all the training videos for Atticus are practical and explain what the publisher/writer needs to get the job done.

I bought it and never got the installation link. Now im trying to get a refund.

I've used Atticus for several years now. Whenever I get stuck or simply can't remember something, I send a note to support and receive excellent, informative answers ASAP.
