Big Bear Cabin
House was great. Perfect for me and my wife and our dog. Great view. Amenities were fantastic. Location was nice. Had difficulty looking for the key box. Heaters appear to be not working or lack of instructions on how to operate them. Tall people may have issues with the kitchen and bathroom. We almost didn’t make driving up the driveway. We had an SUV and our tires were slipping. After that, we had to park at the top just before the driveway because we were afraid we might not make it the next time. If not for the driveway, it would have been 5 stars.

House is average
House is average. Could be dusted and cleaned a little better. Back sliding glass door needs to be fixed. Very hard to slide, wheels fell off. Otherwise I give this house 3 stars.

Mountain Cottage review
Everything was clean and well set up. Location was exactly what we were hoping for, and everything was so pretty! Both checking in and checking out went super smoothly. Only thing was one of the rooms was unaccessible, but it wasn’t much of a inconvenience.

Everything was clean and necessities provided if we forgot to bring. I will always rent directly through Big Bear Cool Cabins on every trip to Big Bear Lake.

Beautiful, but a quick Warning
The cabin and the area were beautiful. Very good customer service. Warning: When you get the key, don't leave it on the flimsy key ring they give you, it falls off very easily. If you lose it, they charge $150 to replace it.

Hi,
Thank you for your kind review! We’re glad you enjoyed the beautiful cabin, the area, and our customer service. We also appreciate the feedback regarding the key ring and will review this with our team.
For lost keys, we unfortunately need to have the entire home rekeyed for security purposes, which is why a replacement fee applies. We hope to host you again soon!

Our stay
Hello, unfortunately we would have to rate it a 2.5. The first thing was the sliding glass door handle fell off right as we were opening the door so I had to keep putting it back on our whole stay! Then my son and I went in to the downstairs bedroom and I see my son reaching for something and luckily I was able to stop him because it was a live mouse trap above the bed on right hand side next to a picture! Then when the heater would go on and off it sounded like someone was trying to break in, which was not pleasant at 2/3 o'clock in the morning while sleeping! The last main issue is the hot water! The hot water maybe lasted 10 minutes and that's being generous! With six people needing to take a shower after a long day at the lake, that's like just over a minute per person to take a shower and did not work out too well for us! There was a few other things but the above is the main reason for my score. Overall these issues unfortunately took away a lot from our vacation time and is not what we expected especially because we plan a trip once a year and this is the first time we felt this way but we usually rent from Airbnb. Not trying to be difficult just stating my experience(s). But if those issues were fixed we would have definitely rated it closer or a 5 for sure!

Hello,
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay. The sliding door handle, heater noise, and hot water concerns are not the experience we aim to provide, and we will be addressing these items with our maintenance team.
We also sincerely apologize regarding the mouse trap placement—this is certainly not appropriate, and we will be reviewing this with our team to ensure it is handled properly moving forward.
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience, as it helps us improve. We’re sorry these issues impacted your annual trip and hope we’ll have the opportunity to provide a much better stay in the future.
Big Bear Cool Cabins for the win!
Big Bear Cool Cabins is definitely a great company to use for your stay at Big Bear. I loved that I was able to save their number and text them with any questions I had. Their response time was great and the experience was better than having to email or call an automated number. I had rented a tobaggan for the snow, but unfortunately, there was no more snow. I was able to text them about it and they refunded me the price. The check-in link was great at providing anything you might need with check-out instructions, reataurant recommendations, as well as things to do that don't involve snow, which is great if you end up going on one of the hottest years and miss the snow! The cabin we chose was great, too. They have various cabins to chose from to meet your needs and are pet friendly. We will definitely be using Big Bear Cool Cabins for our future visits!
