Not recommended as very much overpriced compared to other OFTEC professionals.

The reason for this review it is simply that I booked a service £65 + VAT on a fully working boiler. I asked them to fit a expansion which I already had and was told that would have costed me a few extra quid to fit it.

The guy came and wanted to replace the oil line which has a cost of around £10 and also wanted to replace the hose for the condensing chamber, which has also a cost of around £10 and then do the service.
Nevermind they wanted to replace the filling loop hose which has also a cost of around £10.

We were talking to replace 3 hoses prior to carrying out the service.

I would have never expected that changing 3 hoses and fit the vessel(which I already had) would have made the price jump from £65 to almost £500 as it was around 400 for the three hoses to change + 65 and vat extra to do the service again and also had to pay £50 (and I paid it) just for getting the quote.

They put 4 hours of labour at £50 per hour and the parts were overpriced.

This is the reason for this review.

I would have been happy to pay some money, but something reasonable. I had work done previously and this quote was far too much overcharged.

I believe that a quote around £200 including the service could have been reasonable and I would have accepted it, this quote was unreasonably overpriced.

There a couple of issues that we would like to address:
The main reason that you have chosen to leave this review, is because our engineer refused to carry out a service on your boiler, because your boiler is in poor condition. You correctly mentioned that our engineers are OFTEC Professionals, therefore are bound by certain standards. Our engineer was not prepared to service, and therefore certify, the safety of a boiler which was leaking acidic condensate.
Since our engineers are signing a legal document to confirm your boiler was in safe working order, to certify it without making it safe, would be a criminal act. Your argument to this was that the boiler was firing correctly, and while this is true, there are many variables which can make a boiler unsafe.

The secondary issue you have is that the quote to rectify the issues was "overpriced", we provided a quote which we believed was fair, this is a no obligation quote, therefore you are welcome to decline the quote. All this means for you is that we would not be prepared to certify your boiler.

Therefore, we do not believe this review to be fair, we understand you are upset because you didn't get the outcome you wanted, however we stand by our decisions, there is no situation where we would be prepared to certify an unsafe system. We also believe our pricing to be extremely competitive, relative to other similar businesses.

As always, the engineer arrived on time and conducted the gas boiler service with both friendliness and efficiency. Having relied on Boiler Rapid Repair for several years now, I confidently recommend their services and have frequently done so.

Excellent service received over many years

I have used Boiler Rapid Repair for well over 10 years, to undertake Gas Boiler servicing at both my main residence and a rental property I own. Their service has been excellent throughout this period in terms of helpfulness, reliability, ability to diagnose and repair fault/replace any part as necessary promptly thus keeping expense to a minimum and quite likely extending the lifespan of the boilers.
I have no hesitation in fully recommending them.

Empty promises and boiler left in worse state

I chose this company based on their 5-star reviews, but my experience was far from that.

I initially reported an issue with intermittent hot water, while the central heating was working fine. On Friday, an engineer attended and identified a faulty water sensor, advising that they would return the following week once the part arrived. That same evening, when I tried to turn on the heating, I noticed a constant fault code flashing and that the control panel had not been sealed correctly into the unit.

I contacted the office on Monday to report this. An engineer was sent out to address the heating issue but was unable to resolve it and decided to wait until the new part was fitted. The engineer returned on Thursday, fixed the hot water, but again failed to restore the central heating.

At this point, the engineer began asking questions about who last serviced the boiler, when it was serviced, whether I owned or rented the house, and why there was an additional pump in the cupboard (which had been there since before I moved in four years ago). He also mentioned that a component was not connected correctly. None of these issues had been raised during the previous two visits, and it felt as though blame was being shifted rather than the problem being fixed.

I was advised to contact the owner of the business. He was pleasant and explained why the heating had stopped working, though I lack the technical knowledge to verify his explanation. He said he would send me a quote for a new boiler as soon as possible and mentioned there was a chance it could be installed before Christmas if I accepted before 4PM the next day. He also assured me that portable heaters would be provided in the meantime.

The following morning, I had received no quote. I emailed to request it, assuming my email address may have been recorded incorrectly. Instead, I received an invoice for the work already carried out. The promised heaters also never arrived. I replied to the invoice email explaining that I was awaiting a quote, not an invoice, but received no response.

A few days later, the boiler began tripping the house electrics, forcing me to leave it switched off entirely. At that point, out of frustration, I contacted another local company to fix the problem.

Ultimately, I was left with unfulfilled promises and a boiler in worse condition than before I contacted this company. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them.

We're very sorry you've had such a poor experience, almost every element of your interaction with us is the opposite of what we try to achieve.
We have a lot to dissect here about what went wrong; we have been trying to do this since you left your review.

We've implemented new workflows to reduce the time it takes to order parts and reschedule visits once they arrive. We've implemented new training for our engineers, covering a number of things, including providing accurate timescales and following up with the office when visits haven't been completed successfully.

All members of our team are under a great deal of pressure during the last remaining days before Christmas, but this doesn't excuse the issues you have highlighted, we'll continue to do what we can to learn from this - but we completely regret that this learning opportunity came about from our failure to deliver on our promises to you.

Excellent service all round. Highly recommended!

This company has a very slick interface and booking was quick and easy online, by just clicking on the day and time that suited me. No calls required and no long waits for an appointment!
If you require a service, you just click on the boiler type and that's it. If you require a repair, then you write a brief description of the problem in a box and your appointment is confirmed. I needed both, so left a message with my booking.
Appointment reminders are sent out regularly, which is very useful too.
The engineer, Geoff, arrived exactly on time and was very friendly and polite. He diagnosed the problem immediately and ordered the part required, before giving the heating system its full annual service.
I received a full explanation of the work he had carried out and he left the system working in an alternative way for us, even though it needed a new part.
I couldn't have asked for better efficiency and service, which is why I have been using this company since they were highly recommended to me by a family member a few years ago.
The quote for my spare part and the labour has just been sent to me to approve by email, so I know exactly what to expect when the engineer returns. Their prices are refreshingly reasonable.
I couldn't recommend this company more highly for friendliness, efficiency and all round, state-of-the-art, service.

If it was at all possible I would give Geoff the engineer 10 stars.

Gas boiler service.

The engineer was prompt as usual and carried out the gas boiler service in a friendly efficient manner. I have been using the services of Boiler Rapid Repair for some years and would not hesitate to recommend them and have done so on numerous occasions.
