meg dean and hugh are the best for the cruise and our bear trip with discovery voyages. amazing days on the boat, the bear lodge and the b&B in anchorage. We saw a lot of wildlife, amazing glaciers and had awesome food on board from our queen of the kitchen meg.

Absolutely wonderful

Everyone, including the guests, contributed to our exquisitely unique and wonderful trip, but Captain Dean and Chef Megan were the most important part of our enjoyment for many reasons. We particularly enjoyed the educational information (including Alaskan history events, glaciers, birds, etc.), the fresh food (5 stars!), attention to guests needs and general friendliness and ease of conversations about any topic that came up. The cabins were small but efficient and the beds were very comfortable. We loved waking up next to a waterfall! And the scenery is something you never get tired of appreciating. It was such a relaxing time, but it was never boring. We hope to do it again!

Extremely organized. Prepared to meets guests needs and desire. An amazing experience. This was my second time. Can’t recommend enough. Get it on your bucket list.

As always, Dean Meg and crew were awesome. Food was great, hikes and kayaking perfect and Prince William sound never fails to deliver. We have made 3 trips on the Discovery and Dean’s knowledge is astounding.

The slow pace and quiet. I loved the speed of the ship that gave me a sense of being part of what my eyes were seeing. And the calm demeanor of the crew and unhurried agenda. I only wish I had had the energy to go visit the stranded ice zodiac trip.

Amazing adventures, great food and wonderful people

Amazingly personal and professional! Captain Dean and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable! The food and adventure excursions of kayaking, hiking, and swimming were beyond our expectations! What joy for our family ages 12 to 81 to experience PrinceWilliam sound to the fullest.

Highly recommend going on an expedition with Dean and Meg!!! You will experience Prince William sound in a way that no other excursion will offer!! They know this place and all beauty it has to offer and will make the trip one you won’t forget!! We were given an up close view of this untouched beautiful area!! And Meg’s cooking is as good as the sights!!! We can’t wait to go on another trip with Discovery Voyages!!!

Integrity, knowledge, connection and flexibility. Impeccible experience-focused adventure with excellent crew, delectable meals and incredible sights. An invaluable nature journey through the world's largest waterpark, I went to worship the ice but found so much more. Thank you to Dean, Meg, and crew of the Discovery for an adventure of a lifetime!

Our family of seven wanted an adventure where we could get as close as possible to Alaskan flora and fauna while still enjoying the delights of a hot shower, a warm bed and gourmet food and wine. Meg and Dean of Discovery Voyages deliver this and so much more. Days were spent kayaking up to the face of a calving glacier, hiking along bear trails picking blueberries and salmonberries - sometimes on a whim to find a lake that Dean may have hiked to 10 or more years ago - and traversing extraordinary terrain in search of the picture perfect views. Meg produced the most beautiful meals out of her tiny galley - so much fresh food complimented by a wonderful array of wines (and beers). Highly recommended for those who want experience nature first hand without the crowds with a touch of luxury.

Our trip was outstanding. Dean, Megan, and the rest of the crew are very knowledgeable about the region and constantly monitor conditions to provide the best possible experience at any given time. We saw an array of wildlife and awe inspiring scenery.

Being aboard the Discovery, a small vessel with a storied past, one feels immersed in, rather than removed from, the immediate environment. The crew is very attentive, and the food was fresh, creative, and delicious; beautifully presented and accompanied by a very nice selection of wine.

If you're interested in an immersive experience with knowledgeable guides in an intimate setting I don't believe you can do better than a trip with Discovery Voyages.

This was truly an adventure of a lifetime! Being on a six cabin boat allowed views and experiences that you could never get from a cruise liner. Dean, Megan & crew were amazing. We saw up close so much wildlife & learned so much about Prince William Sound. Megan provided unbelievable gourmet meals & were beautifully presented. The scenery, kayaking, and hiking was outstanding. Memories for a lifetime! Thank you Discovery!

We absolutely loved our time aboard the Discovery with the amazing and oh-so-knowledgeable crew. Dean and Megan make it special every waking moment. Megan is a fabulous chef and every meal was a treat! The cabins are cozy and perfectly adequate for the duration of the trip (not that we spent much time in them, other than to sleep!). We loved the activities every day, and we loved the beautiful spots they chose to moor each night.

We went hiking to see bears fishing for salmon, and we went hiking to explore glaciers and take in gorgeous views; we kayaked among the ice bergs, sea otters and jellyfish; Dean took us to an island where we got to watch the puffins do their adorable and awkward dances; at another island we stopped to watch and listen to several hundred sea lions. We had fun losing count of how many eagles we saw each day. We loved spending time in front of one glacier after another, watching them calve, and learning about the history, geology and geography all the while. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime vacation for us (although we may very well be repeat customers)! Highly recommended, especially if you are fortunate enough to get on a voyage with Hugh, an outstanding and incredibly knowledgeable guide, not to mention a phenomenal photographer.

Our Discovery voyage was wonderful beyond my high expectations. Dean, Megan, Hugh, and Matt are knowledgeable, friendly, and totally dedicated to helping their guests have fun and learn a lot. I had worried that having 12 passengers on a small boat with 2 bathrooms would be stressful, but nope: The boat and the activities are so well organized that it was relaxing, even peaceful sometimes. The Sound is an awe-inspiring place, and this voyage is a fantastic introduction. We kayaked and hiked, we saw glaciers and wildlife, and some of the best time was just hanging out on the boat.

And of course the food is totally spectacular. At every single meal, three times a day.

We had a great time! The staff was helpful, informative, kind and fun to spend time with.
The places we went were all beautiful and we could spend as much time as we wanted at each location.
The food was all yummy and plentiful. Megan was also working hard to make special meals for food allergy guests.
I was apprehensive of a shared bathroom but it was not an issue at all.
We met some really great people and made some great memories
