Dublin airport and terminal 1âŠAwful
Dublin airport and terminal 1âŠAwful, long queues, long waits, over powering and arrogant security staff, no doubt they are under pressure with the queues and delays, but they donât have to be so rude, just an awful expirrisnce, I thought I would enjoy Dublin but it stumbled ate the first hurdle , I wouldnât go back because of that and couldnât recommend it to anyone
An unforgivable dump
An unforgivable dump - I write this as an Irish person - Ireland is doing well as a country and I cannot understand the lack of investment in infrastructure to include airports. I couldnât even use the bathroom this morning in Dublin airport because they are utterly filthy. The whole place is dingy, run down, rough and depressing. The only benefit is pre-clearance if youâre flying to the US. Iâve started flying through London to avoid this place. Rude staff too. Drunk people in the bars. Horrible and rough - an embarrassment to the Irish nation - Iâm mortified to what visitors must think.
To improve they need:
- major investment to renovate the place
- proper cleaning staff for toilets
- plugs for people to charge
- air conditioning
- stricter rules on alcohol intake
- staff training
- basically tear the place down and start again
Ireland is spoiled with American tourists and they get away with charging a lot for VERY low standards. They need to get their act together.
Dublin airport no better cattle mart
Dublin airport is a disgrace running to get on a international flight to china i had to run across airfield then step over a rope then climb a aluminum stairs in the cold and wet . FING NORTH KOREA HAS BETTER. IM ASHAMED TO BE AN IRISH CITIZEN watching tourists and children be
being treated like cattle .
Dublin security don't know how to useâŠ
Dublin security don't know how to use the new equipment and could recognize a laptop in my bag which they told me to leave in and then spoke loudly do I have a bomb in my bag this should never be said by anyone in an airport it was totally unprofessional
Disgraceful
Disgraceful. Not all lanes in use, hence waiting a while and the rudest most arrogant guy insisted I removed my headphones and concentrate on my queue position. Fact is, if all lanes were on I wouldn't need to listen to headphones in the first place!
The worst airport in the absolute partâŠ
The worst airport in the absolute worst part of Ireland. Not even remotely fit for purpose.
Its a twisted joke that this national embarrassment that is in the worst possible location for anyone outside of Dublin swallows up so much funding and development while regional airports in better located and more beautiful parts of the island are allowed to rot.
Avoid if you can
One of the worst airports I've forced to visit time after time. Too small for a number of flights/people it contains; no air conditioning in some areas at all (gate area 101-199); too few toilets (and they are very far from each other) - there are queues almost always; only ONE restaurant that serves hot food (besides snacks such as burgers, sandwiches, salads, cakes); most of the restaurants are almost always full, almost all the waiting places at the gates are full almost always too. And it is ridicularly loud and expensive. If you can - avoid.
Punctillious Baggage Check Personnel
Some how you'd expect the Irish to be considerate.. I've met among the rudest people. In particular, though, a peculiar agent at the baggage check. He insisted, first of all, to stop baggages that had toothpaste and little bottles of liquid.. he'd extract them and hand the bag back to you saying something that was not accompanied by a nice look. Thank God I had enough time.. I went through the same bags in the USA, Germany,Italy and the UK with no problems at all...
How funny... I had a small bottle of isoprople alcohol and two mini bottles of shampoo in another bag... I've never been stopped before... and didn't got so this time either...
Just chaos! Few employees and all self-service.
I just went through Dublin Airport today and it was the WORST airport experience I have had in many years of traveling. I'm not sure if the review should be of the airport or of Aer Lingus but everything was self-serve that used to be done by airline personnel. There were few people to help and the whole area was chaos at about 11:30 a.m. on a Monday. There were long lines everywhere and no one knew which lines led where. You had to weigh your own bag and print out your own baggage tag. The machine I was trying to use didn't work. But since I never had to do this before I thought it was me. In order to do this you had to scan your boarding pass. Then you had to load your own bags onto the conveyor belt by getting in another long line. In that line, you had to scan your baggage tag. The reader said "Invalid Tag." Fortunately, at that point an employee of Aer Lingus sorted it out. She was the only helpful person and it was obvious that she could not manage the chaos around her.
Security Screening
I donât usually leave reviews, but I felt this was worth mentioning. Going through security at Dublin Airport recently.. especially with kids.. was incredibly slow and uncomfortable. The queue moved at a snailâs pace, and on a warm day, the lack of ventilation made it feel even worse. It was hot, stuffy, and there was barely any space between people. Not ideal when youâve got little ones in tow.
It would make a huge difference if there were dedicated fast lanes for families, elderly passengers, or anyone who might need a bit more time. Even just expanding the queueing area would help right now, it feels like everyoneâs packed in shoulder to shoulder.
I know airports are busy places, but a few thoughtful changes could really improve the experience for everyone.
The worst experience I've ever had atâŠ
The worst experience I've ever had at an airport. They are running a scam to force people to spend more money by repeatedly messing with there flights. Security has the worst people I've ever dealt with on a huge abusive power trip.

EAT YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU GO TO THE GATE
EAT YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU GO TO THE GATE!!!
You hit PASSPORT/IMMIGRATION/CUSTOMS before the gate and that's a BAD THING!!!
For our last meal in Dublin, I bought two types of beautiful ham and cheese croissant baked goods from the nice folks at our corner Centra market. They looked so delicious and ... I will never know. I had GOES (Global Entry). There was absolutely NO LINE. I had the food and was going to get us all set up for a last picnic at the gate and SHE MADE ME THROW IT AWAY. I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO TASTE IT!!!
May I at least eat some of it?
I'm hungry and that's my family's last lunch.
My husband and mom were so hungry they had started on some on our walk, but I was carrying it and didn't have the hands to eat any of it, yet ... the gate is right over there ... I just want to eat something ...
NO! THROW IT AWAY NOW!
There's not even a line ... there's no one else here except me!
NO!
She even had me open up a sealed and labeled "buttered roll" so that she could look very closesly in all the corners and check that it was really just bread and butter.
I was painstakingly carrying all the other food we had bought on our trip, had laid it out and taken a picture of it the night before, and she didn't even look at my picture and waved me through. The other food had seeds and dried fruit ... nope ... no fox given.
I was almost in tears ... AND HANGRY!!!
YOU MADE ME THROW AWAY OUR LUNCH!!!
NOT COOL!!! I DIDN'T GET TO EAT!!!
Dublin is no longer my favorite city ... I thought the idea of going through customs and immigration before boarding the plane was a good idea ... FECK THAT!!! What a crappy end to my vacation.
NOTE: The Aer Lingus crew came through, got me some chocolate and crisps, and said that the signage should be better that says EAT YOUR FOOD BEFORE ENTERING!!!
Avoid Dublin Airport like the plague
We flew home to Manchester from Vancouver via Dublin, at Vancouver we couldn't get our boarding passes for the Dublin flight. So we arrive at Dublin at 07.55 to find our flight is cancelled hence the reason why we couldn't get our boarding passes. The signage at the airport is atrocious we walked around the airport so many times trying to get to terminal 2 asking staff which way to go, clueless, not one person knew. Eventually decided to go outside and low and behold there was the walkway to terminal 2.
Found out we were booked on a flight to Manchester at 12.45 so we had a few hours to wait got a coffee at Starbucks because the service everywhere else was diabolical.
We arrived in Manchester half an hour late with no cases, turned out hey were still in Dublin. They had 4 hours to get the cases on the other plane a case of right hand not knowing what the right hands doing, next time I will refuse to travel via Dublin.
The security team at the securityâŠ
The security team at the security scanning for departures are absolutely amazing, shoutout to Angela who made my day so much brighter!
Awful security
Awful airport. Such rude staff on security section when loading your luggage. Absolutely disgusting. would give 0 stars if I could.
Would have given zero stars
Would have given zero stars! Such an unfriendly airport with everything closing about 9pm even though flights go much later than that and Ryanair late flights are always delayed, but just not enough to have to pay compensation! Staff rudely telling us we had to move on to the gate and when we get there all that's open is the vending machine!
Searchers are complete amateurs badlyâŠ
Searchers are complete amateurs badly trained and incredibly rude. One of them basically tried to steal my zippo which is a present bought for me by my daughter 20 years ago. I am an engineer and have worked overseas for decades and always carry the zippo and have NEVER been challenged for carrying it. Searcher who was on his first day told me they have always been illegal and said donât worry Iâll get rid of it for you. Then got cheeky and played the âyou need to calm downâ card, I missed my flight to Germany and had to stay the night and book another flight. Are Lingus were great, the girl I dealt with agreed that the searchers are the worst thing about the airport and they didnât charge me to change flights due to the embarrassingly bad behaviour by the searchers.
I usually avoid flying out of Dublin but from now on I will avoid it like the plague.
Shambles at Dublin Airport
I arrived by air at Dublin Airport with an hour to spare for a connecting flight. Asked if I could transfer to my gate airside. "No" was reply. Had to walk 10 mins to get out of Arrivals. then enter Departures. Security queue was quite long. With 20 mins to go managed to request way to front via understanding travellers. 10 mins walk to gate as final call being made. Departing plane a couple of gates from one I arrived on. No time for refreshments or facilities. What a waste of time, stress and unnecessary security check. Won't be back.
