I encountered Evolve Club while selling my phone through WeBuyAnyPhone. I was offered an additional £5 for my trade-in if I signed up for a supposedly FREE 30-day trial of Evolve Club.

The offer was advertised as being cancellable at any time.

I signed up, then cancelled WITHIN ONE HOUR. I never activated or used a single service.

Despite this, Evolve insists I owe them £9.95 because of a 30-day cancellation notice period buried in the small print.

Think about that. They offer you an extra £5 to sign up for a “free trial”, but even if you cancel immediately, they still want £9.95.

Your £5 bonus effectively becomes a £4.95 loss.

I’ve repeatedly challenged this, including raising my statutory cancellation rights under UK consumer law. Rather than properly addressing my complaint, they’ve stopped responding and have now attempted to establish a Direct Debit against my bank account, which I’ve had to cancel.

I’ve reported the promotion to the Advertising Standards Authority and will also be reporting their practices to Trading Standards.

In my opinion, this is an incredibly predatory way to operate a subscription business.

Avoid the offer, and be extremely wary of any “free trial” associated with this company.

Be careful because these are sly and sneaky they are getting your details somehow from third parties so just be careful even when you're doing nothing wrong and you're just innocently using a site for example we buy any phone which is what I used and I have now got a direct debit attached to my account which is taking £10 per month for a subscription that I've never even set up they are scamming horrible people

I signed up to their free trial via Webuyanyphone for an extra £10. It states that it can be cancelled anytime. However when you try and cancel, they say you have to give 30 days notice and pay for the first month. I have emailed and requested cancellation as this is illegal. Total Spam, avoid at all costs.

Signed up for a free trial which I never used. Never subscribed to any of the software they claimed to have. They then changed me (activated my direct debit) within my free trial. This whole system is a con and tries to lock you into their terms and conditions, which they can't as illegal! On further review their Trustpilot profile showed 1.7 out of 5 from 59 reviews. Searches covering Google reviews, Feefo, Reviews.io and Review Centre did not identify a matching source supporting their advertised figures of 4.9/5 stars. Basicallly they cant substantiate.

I have no idea how I was scammed by this company but I've noticed they deducted £29.95 from my account. This is surely illegal. I think this is an abuse of the direct debit scheme and I'd be interested to know how my bank authorised this transaction. I will be investigating with them. Judging by the comments here, this is nothing other than our right fraud and theft.

I somehow managed to login to the dashboard and tried to cancel they conveniently say 30 days notice needed which means they guaranteed a months payment scammed from customers.

I have cancelled my direct debit via my bank so hoping no more money comes out of my account nor they contact me again.

From reading reviews it is multiple companies where 'Evolve club' is piggybacking onto sign ups and setting up direct debits and taking money from innocent people.

I think we buy any phone and Evolve both are scammers and avoid both. 'We buy any phone' offered me a good price for my phone over the internet but when they got my phone they offered me a quarter of the price, a silly amount of money for the phone being presented.

Avoid at any cost

The company is an unapologetic scam. I recently purchased a subscription with OneStream and was forced to subscribe to the Evolve Club free trial. There was no option to have a package that did not include this free trial. I know this because I called in and attempted to purchase one without it.

Ultimately, I let them strongarm me into it after verifying that I could cancel the subscription and that there would not be additional charges. Now, two weeks before my subscription expires I logged on to cancel it and found that you CANNOT without agreeing to paying for a full month in addition to the free trial. You have to give a full 30days notice if you don’t want to be forced into paying a full month.

Given that the free trial itself is a full month you would have to cancel your subscription before it even started. It’s absolutely disgusting and reflects terribly on both OneStream and on Evolve Club.

To add insult to injury I was informed during the attempted cancellation process of all the benefits Evolved Club might provide. Including the fun fact that the two benefits of the subscription (If purchased separately) cost £21 total. The website, in the same pop-up, proudly explaining it ONLY costs £30 for Evolved Club. This has to be some sort of joke if even their own promotional material betrays the fact they’re actively scamming clientele.

They are asking for repeated payments, there is a notice period before cancellation, random direct debits and no response on email. Absolutely pathetic hidden charges which are big amounts for any household. Should never sign up to it even if it's a complementary service.

Absolute scam, was forced to sign up to evolve club when setting up my broadband through onestream. I explicitly asked not to have this included but was told I had to, but that it had a one month trial period that I could cancel.

Onestream told me I had to cancel over email, and wrote an email for me to use and send to evolve club, evolve club refused and told me I had to set up my online account with them to be able to then close the account, which I did. I then asked for confirmation via email and they mentioned the 30 day notice period.

Onestream charged me for a month of evolve club up front, but despite that and my account closure, evolve club se tuo a direct debit without my consent and are trying to take money from my account. It's absolutely wild to be forced to join a service, and be told it had a one month trial with a 30 day notice period, and being charged twice for it in a month despite having it enabled for less than a day.

Like other reviews of WeBuyAnyPhone, my experience was ruined by the Evolve Club “free” trial. I clicked this in error and immediately stated this. I did not activate or use, Evolve then state you need to cancel and accept you will pay £9.95 to do so, for a free trial I did not activate or use. I wrote several times to Evolve setting out my legal rights - they ignored the points I raised completely. I wrote to WeBuyAnyPhone, who would not assist so i decided not to go ahead with the trade-in.
FYI Evolve Club Limited has direct links to WeBuyAnyPhone.com: the same two directors, the same controlling company, a shared registered-office address and an express commercial arrangement.
I have reported Evolve to my Bank.
My advice is avoid, what was a dreadful experience

DO NOT AGREE or use this company, they are cowboys and thieves and they just ignore any communicetion.

Basically there is nothing good about this company. In my case they 'piggy-backed' a so-called free trial when I started a Onestream broadband contract. On day one it was obvious to me that I didn't need it and Evolve was cancelled straight away. A month later they charge £29.95. Not acceptable in any way. Onestream must disassociate from them ASAP, however that might be interesting to see since both Onestream and Evolve have several directors in common.
Further to this I emailed them for answers as why they had taken the payment. They didn't even bother to read it. I got this facile copy/pasted reply which didn't include any kind of answer to my query:
"Thank you for contacting us. Your Evolve Club membership brings together digital security, online privacy and entertainment in one convenient subscription.
Evolve Club was offered to you through Onestream, one of our trusted broadband partners, and you opted in to the offer during your interaction with them.
Your membership includes:
Blah, blah, blah."
The whole experience was a gigantic con.

Literally going through the pain others have reported with Evolve Club right now.

Last month I signed up to Onestream broadband and was asked by the advisor whether I would be interested to try a 30-day trial of Evolve Club free of charge. I may have casually said ok over the phone and then when the contract email came through I found an additional £29.95 / month charge added to the contract for Evolve Club.

Was told by the Onestream advisor that they now couldn't take it off and I had to contact Evolve Club directly. Tried emailing their support email several times 2 weeks before the Onestream broadband contract started but they were ignored until I received confirmation an account has now been set up. Conveniently it arrived 2 days into the 30-day trial and I'm being told I need to pay the following month and charged £29.95 to cancel the 30 day trial to cover the following live month.

Both Onestream and Evolve are refusing to close the account and cancel the the £29.95 charge so I have contacted my bank and they are aware and have told me to cancel and Direct Debit mandates and they'll look into it for me.

Scams and fraudulent practices like this really shouldn't be around in 2026.

This company scams people and tricks them into subscribing and paying. Do not trust this company, stay away! The moment you see this Companys name stay away.!!

I have no idea how they managed to take money from my account without giving them my bank details I've just registered for my sister to sell her phone I put her details not even bank details for her how on earth they took money from my account it even says first payment,I've tried to log in in their account it says I do not have an account with them.Scammers !

We buy any phone ‘free trial’ scam. Didnt take (also scam) we buy any phone’s majorly reduced offer on an excellent condition iPhone which included this ‘free trial’ for some virus protection I had no need for. Tried to cancel within an hour of rectangle email but said I have to pay 1st payment a month later. Luckily saw payment on my bank account and they refunded it the same day as I had been on holiday and hadn’t tracked a direct debit being set up without my permission.

SCAM! AVOID! SCAM! DISGUSTING SCAMMERS. STOLE HUNDREDS OF POUNDS AND RUFUSE TO GIVE IT BACK! I AM WRITING TO BBC AND MARTIN LEWIS!

Absolutely shocking, extortion in my opinion and the evidence they sent to justify their unacceptable behaviour was to screenshot someone else’s account, not only fraudulent but a breach of data protection, avoid this “company” at all costs, it’s basically a scam.
