Scam- sign you up and continue taking payment without clear consent

Like everyone else on here I've had the same problem. A complete scam of a company and so illegal! I've deleted the direct debit from my bank account and they're not getting a penny from me. It was clear on webuyanyphone that it was a free 30 day trial and I could cancel anytime. I cancelled within 2 days and they're claiming I owe £9.95. Like others as well I've emailed and been ghosted. Then you get a sarcastic response outlining T&Cs that I never agreed to. Companies like this should be shut down and I don't know how people have the nerve to work for them. Anyway, I'm sure they're desperate and will likely be bankrupt soon anyway. Enjoy unemployment team Evolve!!

This is likely a scam. They offer a one month free trial but when you cancel they try to take a month's payment after the free trial. Also, their customer support email address mentioned on their website blocks all messages, so there is no customer support.

SCAM- didn’t even sign up for a free trial when selling my old mobile but noticed a new standing order had been set up in my bank which I blocked and deleted before any money was taken!

I wish I could give less than one star to these scammers.

I signed up for Evolve Club's membership through their partner WE BUY ANY PHONE during a phone trade-in, and within the first five days, before ever using a single one of their services (no McAfee, no VPN, nothing activated), I decided to cancel. That's when the real picture came out.

I was told at sign-up that this was a free trial I could cancel anytime. The moment I actually tried to cancel, I was suddenly told I had to serve a one-month notice period, which conveniently guarantees they collect at least one payment from you regardless. In my experience, this is a textbook bait-and-switch: advertise "cancel anytime" to get you to sign up, then quietly enforce a notice period the second you try to leave, just to squeeze a payment out before you can escape.

I never used any of the included services, cancelled almost immediately, and was still told my membership wouldn't end for weeks and that a payment would still be taken regardless. To me, that's not how a genuine free trial should work, and it feels deliberately designed to catch people out. I've had to escalate this formally, citing consumer protection regulations, just to get them to acknowledge my statutory right to cancel.

Avoid this membership entirely ;if it looks like a free trial, check very carefully what "cancel anytime" actually means before you agree to anything.

I had a great experience. I contacted them by email, and they handled my request quickly and without any issues.

Did a 30 day "Free Trial" when selling my phone to webuyanyphone. I cancelled within 6 days, they still intend to charge me because of the 30 day notice period.

Obviously against, The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Emails are not answered well and keep telling me to manage me account online with no mention of my actual issue.

Scam did a quote with we buy any phone never sold my phone to them but these cowboys set up a dd and and account for £9.95 per month . Luckily I noticed and I closed the account but it said I had to pay £9.95 after the free trial for notice period 😂co side ring you have a 14 day cooling off period in the uk this is illegal and fraudulent stay well clear and I’ll be making sure I check my bank account every day for that direct debit. Luckily it’s not my mail bank account so I may even close the account in opposed to giving these cowboys £9.95 stay very clear of them and we buy any phone never.

I sold a phone with We Buy Any Phone and was offered an additional £10 with a free trial of Evolve Club and it said i can “cancel at anytime.”

Nowhere in We Buy Any Phone’s Ts&Cs does it mention a 30-day notice period on Evolve Club AND Evolve Club’s website literally says “cancel anytime, no penalties.”

Section 10.4 in We Buy Any Phone’s Ts&Cs is where they talk about the free trial of Evolve Club and it states:

“Please note that if you do not cancel the software before the end of the free trial period, you will be liable to pay Evolve Club Limited.”

They fail to mention that even if you try to cancel before the end of the free trial period, you will STILL have to pay them. They fail to mention this anywhere — I tried to cancel less than 1 hour after accepting the trial.

Additionally, you can’t block payments from your bank because We Buy Any Phone have passed your bank details to them to set up the Direct Debit so your bank can’t do anything until the first payment is made.

All i can do now is wait for a response on my email I have sent to We Buy Any Phone and Evolve Club.

**UPDATE:**
They got back to my email initially denying it was mis-sold and made up more lies saying in a confirmation email the 30-day notice period was mentioned. Though, after checking i showed evidence that it was not mentioned anywhere yet again.

After this, they began ignoring me for days. Follow-up emails were ignored too. I emailed them one final time yesterday (September 9th 2026) and they FINALLY got back to me confirming they had cancelled my free trial.

They confirmed they have waived the 30-day notice period and, as requested, no further charges will be made from my account.

Due to this, I’ll give them a +star for compliance although the ghosting for days wasn’t appreciated nor professional.

Definitely DO NOT use this company, but thank you Evolve for cancelling my trial.

Predetory scam. I got it added along with my wifi booking, never asked for this. And to cancel at the moment I have to email them (which will hopefully help) or if not then it will charge me and then give me my account details after charging me so that I can't cancel it until I've paid.

Absolutely Fraud and Scam.
Webuyanyphone you are scam as well because owner of webuyanyphone and This are same.
Earning money from both side i cancel my direcr debit and already file fraud case against them.
Everyone please do file a fraud complain against this shit people. They just deduct my money today and i cancel straight away contact bank and everything sort out but they told me we need 30 day notice for cancellation so F*** u

Never contacted this company. They setup a direct debit from their sister company webuyanyphone.com… absolute crooks. Don’t use either company.

Absolute scam. They set up a direct debit when you give your details to webuyanyphone and then try and charge a 30 day notice period to get out of it. Make sure you know your rights under the Consumer Credit Act, they CANNOT make you pay a notice period, you have the right to cancel anything in 14 days!!

This is a scam. You’ll be offered £10 off buying something unrelated if you join evolve club but claim “you can cancel at any time”. But you wont get your account details until after the first payment, then even if you cancel immediately the 30 days notice means you’ll have to pay the 2nd payment. So although they will offer £10 off and option to cancel any time, the minimum you’ll have to pay is £20.

Evolve Club UK is the sister company to We Buy Any Phone - both are awful. You have to give bank details to We Buy Any Phone to sell your phone they then share this with Evolve Club UK who (illegally) will set up a direct debit for £10.00 a month. I cancelled it as soon as a I noticed but am still being charged - I never even activated my account!

I have never even heard of this company yet so how they had hacked into my bank account and set up a monthly direct debit.
Thankfully I spotted it straight away and cancelled.
I am currently working on how they managed to do this

Evolve Club UK is the sister company to We Buy Any Phone (owned by the same people), so when you sell your phone to We Buy Any Phone, you have to give them your bank details so they can transfer the money to you once they have them. Evolve Club UK will set up a direct debit (illegally) for £10.00 a month for a load of free apps . Since you set up this Direct Debit without my permission, I have reported you to Action Fraud and the Avon and Somerset fraud team. The best advice to anyone would be to avoid Webuyanyphone

Can't cancel without making the first payment, it's a pure SCAM, called my bank to reverse the payment. Do not sign up to these fraudsters. They don't reply to any emails.
