Insurance and deposit scam !!!!!!

Rip off merchants - made me sign an ambiguous contract that meant I wound up paying a huge sum for insurance I did not need or want.

INSURANCE SCAMMERS

On informing the local company and the wider hertz group neither have answered the key questions.

Be careful when signing as I believed I was just giving them my card details for the standard deposit when in actual fact they were charging me for extra things I did not want or need.

Firefly rental cars are total SCAM. We rented a car for 5 days with full cover from. Economy Bookings. When we arrived they said we have to pay extra insurance plus a deposit. They gave us 4 options. After all the stress we paid an extra $300 dollars more insurance plus $2500 deposit. They said if there is any damage in the car we have to cover. Everything sounded so fishy. I was supposed to have full cover from booking. Also they did not have the car we supposedly rented.
When they brought the car we saw several marks and damages. They sent me an email with "their far away pics" stating no damage. We decided to cancel everything and run far away to this awful place that took me 3 hours to rent a car!! When I came back to the US I called AMEX and dispute the charge from Booking.

I am grateful I followed my instinct, canceled it and ran faster than Forrest Gump from this place and definitely I love Amex who always take care of clients.
These people know we, as a client, are tired of the flight, don't know what to do and want to get done fast so we are easy to scam.
My advice DON'T USE this company and if you already gave your card card # change it as soon as you arrive in the US.

Wie auch viele andere zurzeit wurde ich von firefly in Málaga betrogen. Mir wurde 176€ für den Verzicht der Selbstbeteiligung berechnet. Ich hatte vor Ort extra nochmal nachgefragt und mir wurde gesagt, das sei für die Tankkaution. Ich muss jetzt auch den Weg über die Bank gehen.

Firefly charged us 16% airport surcharge but the booking voucher said it would only be 8%. It is impossible to get a response from them since all contact is ignored. They also strongly advised to take out extra insurance directly with them since it would be a lot cheaper. However on checking afterwards it was a third more expensive than with the comparison website option.

Just wow… we actually booked with Thrifty, however due to their office renovations Firefly was the managing agent at time of pickup. When we got to the desk at 9pm the agent told us we had an additional €341 to pay for excess insurance, despite already having paid for this online with the booking agent (the actual car rental was only €180). She continued to insist for about 10 minutes that she could not give us the car keys until we had paid this, even after we showed her the confirmation confirming no extra costs and her going as far to blame the booking agent for not putting the cost up front to us. After walking away and seeking advice from the booking agent that this is not the case and that we should dig our heels in - we went back and challenged this with a different Firefly agent, who did try and peddle the excess insurance but eventually admitted it was an OPTIONAL charge to cover the excess in the event of damage/loss/theft etc and we were able to take the keys with any additional charges after about 30 minutes of backwards and forwards. Utterly dishonest behaviour by Firefly agents attempting to masquerade extortionate optional charges as mandatory - presumably as they are on commission for it!

Ik huurde een auto via een booker in Alicante met verzekering.
Firefly haalde toch € 250 van mijn visa voor de verzekering ( die ik reeds had betaald via de booker)

Terrible experience with Firefly at Zihuatanejo Mexico. We booked a rental car for $10 per day via Economy Bookings and upon collection at the airport, Firefly insisted we could only get insurance coverage through them, despite having rental car insurance through our credit card in Canada. After 2 hours back and forth, they finally told us that we COULD use our own insurance, but in the event of any claim, they would refuse to supply ANY documents or damage receipts to our insurer, unless we paid an additional $1000 CAD for their 'Claims Pack'. It's an absolute scam and they were not open or honest, until pushed on it. Having phoned our credit card insurance at the airport, we were told that they would definitely need damage receipts etc to pay out any claim so we were forced into buying Firefly's insurance for an additional $1400 CAD if we wanted any sort of coverage, which made our rental cost 4 x the price of what we had already paid online. Never again.

Also you must make sure to always decline 'Full Coverage' insurance offered when reserving a car online, as Mexican car rental companies will not accept this as insurance either, so it's a complete waste of money. Another scam from these intermediary companies. It's unbelievable that these companies can get away with this type of service.

I rented a car from Firefly in Malaga. I declined all insurance, as my credit card covers it. At the counter, I confirmed twice that nothing extra would be charged. The representative assured me everything was paid.

Two days after returning the car, €322.22 was charged to my account. I later realized they tricked me into signing for extra insurance, despite my clear refusal.

This was dishonest and misleading. Firefly has not responded to my complaint.

Avoid this company – I will never use them again.

double facturation pour une location à Séville sans explication. Malgré plusieurs relances, ils refusent de rembourser. Choisissez une autre agence.

there should be a Zero Star option because thas what this company (owned by Hertz) should be getting.

I outlined the treatment of myself and two other family members that used this company on a joint holiday in August 24. After Firefly tried to charge me for an additional 1200km (I think it amounted to about an extra 596 euros). Which I contested and Firefly then confirmed was not true. But that didnt stop them. So they then simply removed that charge from the total invoice, added in three new charges and created a completely new invoice and then sent that to my credit card company instead. Which I again contested and my credit card company again agreed with me and didnt allow them to charge me. So then Herts start to email me direct to pay up. I tell them no. This stops and then this month (7 months after this all started) I receive a letter from their lapdog debt collector called EOS Solutions who buy up Hertz creditor lists and then chase them with those 'pay up or we send debt collectors or get our solicitors on you'. And thats where I now am...all because we used Firefly....this company needs to referred to an ombudsman.

Watch out for Firefly. They are selling you insurances that you told them you don´t want. They hide it in the papers, and charge you after return of car. We sent many complaints, nothing is happening. Totally screws their costumers. Will never use them again.

Mske sure you always go through EACH line in the rental papers. Trust noone!

And do not use Firefly, there are so many other companies that are more honest.

Da ich den Wagen nicht vollgetankt zurückgegeben habe wurde die gesamte tankkaution und zusätzlich auch die für das e-tollgerät einbehalten oder auf Deutsch gesagt mir gestohlen. Die scheint sich für ihre eigenen mietbedingungen nicht zu interessieren.
Der Versuch über billiger mietwagen.de den Vorgang aufzuklären hätte ich mir sparen können; die haben null Interesse daran und schreiben nur irgendwelche Müll zurück.
Der eigentlich schöne Portugal Aufenthalt wurde durch diesen Betrug etwas vermiest.... Aber man sieht sich ja immer zweimal im Leben 🥷

Malheureusement on ne peux pas mettre 0 étoile. J'ai réservé un véhicule à l'aéroport de Nador, une fois sur place l'agent essaye de me faire souscrire à des options que je refuse. Suite à mon refus il refuse de me donner le véhicule sous prétexte que ma carte bancaire n'est pas conforme ( bien que j'ai déjà loué dans d'autres agences).
Quant au service client c'est encore pire une vraie bande de voleurs et de menteurs il me dise que c'est moi qui ai refusé la location. Si vous voulez vous retrouver en pleine nature avec votre argent qui disparaît alors réservez chez eux.

Tak jak inni, nie przeczytałem opinii w internecie, a gdyby nawet to firma Hertz od której pożyczyłem auto, przeszła do Firefly.
Na lotnisku miły pan poinformował mnie o jak się okazało nowych wydatkach, a płacąc podczas rezerwacji biletów zapłaciłem za wynajem 371zł wraz z pełnym ubezpieczeniem. Nawet na stronie było napisane żeby nie wykupywać już innego ubezpieczenia, które będą proponowali w wypożyczalni.
Chyba dobrze, że nie posiadam karty kredytowej, bo jak czytam zabezpieczenia są do 1000euro. Ja płaciłem kartą debetową i kazano mi dopłacić za 5dni 410euro!
Koleś mówił, że oddadzą mi 150 (jakieś zabezpieczenie) +107euro (paliwo). Oddali mi 149euro i nie wiem za co zostały mi potrącone pieniądze bowiem samochód był niedrasniety i zatankowany do pełna. I to, że już nikt od nich nie odpowiada na maile to samo świadczy o ich uczciwosci.
Także wynajem samochodu na 5 dni wyniósł mnie 1613zł + 200zł paliwo!!!
UWAGA NA OSZUSTÓWI!!!

Mexico city airport. The car was good, they charged me 3% more because I used a credit card. Expedia said all fees and charges included...oh and they don't accept cash

Al llegar al aeropuerto, no encontré la oficina en la ubicación indicada. Posteriormente, descubrí que habían cambiado su nombre comercial y que su oficina se encontraba en una pequeña caseta en un aparcamiento fuera de la terminal.

El vehículo entregado presentaba múltiples rayones y, para agravar la situación, sufrió un fallo electrónico que me dejó tirado el tercer día. Finalmente, me cobraron la asistencia de la grúa y una penalización por no devolver el depósito lleno (¿cómo iba a devolver el coche si me dejó tirado?). Todo esto sin haberme comunicado previamente estos cargos, de los cuales me enteré al revisar el extracto bancario.
Tardé dos semanas en contactar con ellos vía email para resolver este asunto. Finalmente, me dicen que la culpa es mía por no haber contratado un seguro a todo riesgo. El coste de la grúa lo pago yo y la penalización por no haber devuelto el coche en tiempo y forma también la pago yo.

Liever geen ster maar die optie is er niet. precies hetzelfde. Geld van rekening na afloop zonder communicatie, en je krijgt ze nooit meer te pakken. Lukt al weken niet om contact te krijgen. Is gekoppeld aan Hertz. Geboekt via booking.com

Le pongo una estrella por qué no se puede escribir…. Mala atención ,mala información y un robo a la hora de hacerte la devolución y ya ni que decir si quieres ponerte en contacto con ellos … llevo más 16 años alquilando coches en Sevilla y lo de esta vez es de tracas, a la hora de la entrega no revisan ni entregan ninguna documentación donde diga que está correcta la entrega aún así pidiendo dicho papel en 3 ocasiones, no volveré alquilar con ellos. Muy mala la compañía.
