We're sorry to hear you had to wait to be connected to a volunteer and even after waiting you felt your conversation was closed abruptly.

Because Shout is so popular, at times it may take much longer than we would like to talk to a trained Shout Volunteer.

it sounds like you're a regular user of our service but we're sorry to hear your recent experience of our service has not met your needs.

The FAQ on our website details limits placed frequent users - we hope that people who use our service more often than is expected will reflect on their recent conversations and use that to empower them to to take their next steps - this may include using previously agreed coping skills or perhaps other services.

It sounds like you were connected to our systems but it may have taken longer than we would like to pair you with next available volunteer.

We aim to reach people within 30 minutes but at times it may take much longer. Once you receive our automated messages and respond to the prompt asking what's on your mind, then you will be in line to be answered.

We know how difficult it can be to wait when you need support and we hope you'll give us another chance.

We're sorry to hear you waited so long to be connected to a Shout Volunteer - we aim to reach people within 30 minutes but at times of high demand such as overnight it can take longer. Waiting for help when you need is can be incredibly tough but we do reach everyone eventually.

If you feel unsafe we would always recommend calling 111/999 for immediate help.

We truly hope you'll try us again should you need to talk in the hope you can experience a conversation with a volunteer and be able to express your feelings and feel understood and not alone in your pain.

We're sorry to hear your experience of texting in was a negative one - seeking help during a panic attack takes immense fortitude and we wanted to assure you our service is free and staffed by trained volunteers and backed up by clinical supervisors.

It's hard to be sure what site you were diverted and exactly what happened - While you wait to be connected we may share links to other support or our terms and conditions and once connected to a volunteer you have a back and forth text chat lasting around 45-60 minutes, at the end of which if they feel it may be helpful, they may share links to other forms of support which should be free and accessible to all.

We hope you'll try us again when you need to talk.

We connect people with real volunteers and our hope is for over the course of a 45-60m conversation you'll have the experience of feeling understood while sharing your thoughts and emotions. As you say, sometimes we just want someone to talk to.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

We're sorry to hear you had to wait longer for a conversation than we would have liked. We aim to reach everyone within 30 minutes but this is not always possible, however we do get to everyone eventually.

We understand that not every crisis can wait and if people feel unable to keep safe we would always recommend calling 111/999.

We inform people how to stop the conversation and this can be helpful if someone feels they are able to wait for another time - though this is not applicable to all. In some cases by the time we reach them, the moment may have passed or they will have found or sought support elsewhere or from those around them and so texting stop allows them to opt out before being connected.

We hope you'll try our service again when you need to - we are here for you.

We're sorry that it took so long for our service to connect you with a volunteer at a time of extreme distress. We do aim to reach people within 30 minutes but at times this may take longer than we would wish, especially at periods of high demand when all our volunteers are already engaged.

If someone is struggling to keep safe and requires immediate attention we would always recommend calling 999 or 111. We're pleased to hear that despite not being able to talk to one of our volunteers you found yourself in a place of safety in October and we hope you got the care you truly deserved.

We hope this won't deter you from trying our service again when you need to talk.

You should receive automated system messages when you text in - this shows you are in the queue to be answered by the next available volunteer.

It must be disappointing to use our service twice and not be connected with a volunteer - we do reach everyone but at present not always within our aim of thirty minutes.

You should receive regular messages as your wait continues and some of these may direct you to other means of support while you are in the queue to be answered.

We are presently training more volunteers with the aim of bringing this wait time down.

We know waiting to receive help can be immensely hard and we hope you'll try us again when you need to talk - we are here for you.

Near the end the volunteer may offer to share some appropriate links to give the person using our service further specialist information or connections to other support.
