Best value storage

I've been with Grace Removals for over 10 years and have very rarely been disappointed. Their prices are the best you can get for storage and they have tried to be as accommodating as possible throughout the years. The warehouse manager Reymond is an absolute pleasure to deal with and really made my move to Brisbane and the relocation my items stress and hassle free. The removalists were also extremely friendly and efficient. Almost sad to say goodbye...

Worse than I ever imagined

It has been weeks since my move and I’m still stressed out and traumatised. I can’t believe the items Grace managed to damage in transit. We paid for a full service pack and move interstate (nearly $13K) and it was stressful from start to finish. And after.

On packing day, the packing was outsourced despite repeated verbal assurances on more than one occasion from the Grace salesman that the “Grace difference” was that it would only be their employees doing the move.

On packing day not enough people were sent (due to COVID - which had been going on for ages when we booked so no surprise there) and I was out in the middle of complaints from the outsourced packing company about insufficient packers and materials sent by Grace. It was hard to get anyone on the phone from Grace to sort it out. I felt like everyone wanted to make it my problem to solve.

I was repeatedly assured that the movers would pack the rest as we were only 2/3 packed after that first day. And I was told that the movers would come between 11am-1pm the next day. So it was a surprise when our neighbour called to let us know that the movers turned up early and of course we were nowhere near, planning on getting there at 11. And no one told the movers they had to pack but had promised extra packers would turn up, so they went off to get pies instead of moving the furniture and the 2/3 of the house that was packed. Movers maintained they wouldn’t pack during the day, waiting for the promised extra packers to arrive but it became clear over the day that no one was turning up so they started packing.

They broke our bed dropping it down the stairs and gouged the skirting board through the wood and plaster with such a deep ding I couldn’t believe it in prior attempts to move a simple Ikea bed. We’ve moved in and out of that house three times before and never had anything like that damage, with other instances going through layers of paint. I was shocked. No other movers had these problems with our house.

Once we got to Canberra we discovered that the “packing” on the moving day actually meant throwing things in boxes. They didn’t even bother to place the clothes on hangers in the special boxes with the hanging rails but shoved the clothes in plain boxes still on hangers, suits, evening gowns, the lot. Hats were shoved in boxes with no packing and squashed beyond being wearable. I can’t believe it even though I unpacked with my own hands but porcelain was thrown into boxes loose with metal and plastics and plaster with no packing material on anything. Unsurprisingly, valuable and/or sentimental items broke. That’s not packing, certainly not what I paid extra for.

They somehow managed to break off both sides of a solid wood handle on dresser, broke a solid wood bookcase. I’m still not sure how they got one of our pillows so filthy - I can’t even think that if they used it to wipe out the container it would have got so filthy. They had no idea how to move my washing machine and dryer bolted together with a stacking kit and lost the bolts. Boxes were put willy nilly all over the house - only half the boxes labelled kitchen actually ended up in the kitchen for example.

Grace has been a real pain to deal with throughout requiring many phone calls and emails. The same information has to be sent more than once and colleagues won’t share information when you ask but will send three emails asking you to send the information to Grace again. I don’t know if that’s just to slow you down making an insurance claim or what. There are no contact details for their insurance company anywhere online. Wish me luck. I’ll need it.

Tl;dr they don’t deliver on what they promise and what you pay for

We moved a five bedroom house with a single broken drinking glass. Outstanding.

We moved a five bedroom house, and stored our goods for a year while renovated. During the packing process, move and re delivery we had a single drinking glass that broke. The care taken by the packing and delivery team was excellent.
We experienced one issue which is to be expected, but Grace reacted and solved it immediately.
There may be cheaper alternatives, but I doubt you'll find a match for the quality.

I highly recommend them

An allround great experience

Although priced a little higher than some of the other quotes, Grace were professional, helpful and went above and beyond in many small ways. Not only did I move with them personally, but we often use them for work related moves. I want to thank them for an easy and pleasant experience that made moving as painless as possible!

Grace's top 10 service

I work for a NSW governmental body. During the Pandemic we required urgent need of a courier system for the duration of several months. Grace met the challenge, and provided the highest level service, during what must have been a very difficult time for Grace, too. I honestly can't recommend Grace highly enough, their staff provide excellent customer service, and their couriers are the best in the business, and go above and beyond.

Do NOT use Grace - not what they used to be!!

After reading other recent reviews from 2021, I completely agree that this company is not what it used to be - terrible customer service, money grabbing at every opportunity with a complete lack of responsibility for their work. I used Grace in May to move contents out of a flat in Australia - ship some items from Sydney to the UK, and store the majority of items in their Sydney warehouse - which is now a major concern. The international shipment is due to arrive in the UK in 3 weeks, and 2 weeks ago their subcontractor/UK agent emailed saying due to port delays in the UK "possible additional charges" are likely at £50-160 per day for 3-5 weeks. Grace, nor their UK agent will provide any transparency about the costs or how they are calculated and also state they won't know the total cost until after the goods have been processed - when full payment will be required to release my goods. Grace customer service/export coordinator in Australia repeatedly stating that the UK agent needs to handle it - taking no responsibility whatsoever for the confusion, or attempting to provide some clarity about these costs, only stating Grace is not liable. The total cost to ship the goods to the UK was AUD$1,500 and these proposed costs might total £5,500! Money I simply do not have. This is causing huge anxiety as they are basically holding my goods to ransom. Fair enough if additional charges were expected to be £50-150, but their statements thus far indicate thousands of pounds. I have family friends that have used Grace for years and have multiple storage units across Australia - they are appalled at what is going on and cannot believe the complete lack of customer service by the export coordinator and are going to pull their goods and use another storage company as a result - Allied Pickfords. They are no longer what could be called a leading removals company, Grace is trading on the success of years gone by and are now nothing but a money grabbing organisation with a complete lack of customer service and attention to detail - avoid!

Very happy with our experience

I had to arrange a removalist at short notice to move from NSW to NT and the grace team were so helpful and did the quote very quickly and organised it all efficiently. The removalists were friendly and on time at both ends, and all our furniture arrived safely. Would definitely use Grace again and recommend!

I was very happy with Grace Removalist. The whole experience was less stressful because of the professional and friendly staff. Because of Covid I could not personally go to Sydney to personally pack belongings and Grace did it for me. The goods came to the Gold Coast within a week and all the goods were in excellent condition. The removalists themselves were very helpful and polite

Grace removals was extremely helpful

Great service from beginning to end!

Great service from beginning to end! We moved interstate and had Grace pack for our move and the team was brilliant and they were so efficient. The team that loaded were great and the same when they unloaded at the other end. I was recommended Grace by multiple people that have done big moves and I’m so glad after numerous quotes we went with Grace. You won’t be disappointed!

Excellent service from the beginning to…

Excellent service from the beginning to the end! Richard & Lejla were always available to answer any queries. The crew from Sydney & Newcastle were the best guys nothing was a problem! The 2 valet ladies were gems, my kitchen was organised to perfection! Thank you all for your efforts we really appreciated everything you provided, the move was so easy with your professional team.
