I purchased a reclaimed wood table and bench set with high expectations, but unfortunately my experience has been disappointing across multiple issues.

On the first delivery, the bench arrived warped, making it uneven and wobbly. To their credit, this was eventually replaced—but it shouldn’t have passed quality checks in the first place.

More concerning is the issue with the steel legs. After installation, I noticed damage to the flooring in my rental property caused by the legs, which now puts our deposit at risk. I contacted the company multiple times via email to raise this, but the response has been underwhelming. They have only offered an apology and suggested a protective coating—at my own expense.

Their explanation was that some form of liquid must have come into contact with the steel, causing rust that then transferred onto the floor. But this is a dining table, spillages are entirely normal and should be expected. Furniture like this should be designed and finished to withstand everyday use, including minor spills, without causing damage to itself or surrounding surfaces.

Overall, while the aesthetic of the set is appealing, the quality, durability, and after-sales support fall short. I would not recommend unless improvements are made to both product finishing and customer service.

I have given them 3 as I love the table but the matching bench has warped resulting in a wobble which means it is not stable. Despite contacting them initially on 3rd December 25 and several times since they have done nothing to resolve the issue. So we are left using a bench which when you first sit down you think you are going backwards.

I really didn’t want to leave a bad review as I don’t personally find them that helpful but it is a big purchase and we need the confidence that online companies will follow through on their obligations.

I am really disappointed. 😢

We ordered a light driftwood table in November, for ‘in time’ Christmas delivery. The company fulfilled this but whilst we were given a 3-7pm delivery slot, there was zero way to contact the company about when they might arrive and the tracking app did not work at all. In the end two workers turned up at my house at 1015pm. This was completely unnacceptable, the delivery drivers told me that they weren’t delivery drivers but instead worked at the company and had been up since 4am, and still had another delivery to make that night back in London. I doubt this is legal.

The product is good but the table marks easily as I don’t think a strong varnish has been used. Further, the metal table legs are not black as advertised and ours are silver, which I don’t hate- but again shouldn’t be the case. I could not recommend this company to someone else paying a premium for another table.

I made a mistake with the delivery address. I called H&W and they corrected it straight away. The product arrived promptly, and the delivery driver and his mate were very helpful, and carried the 120 kg table up 33 steps carefully & cheerfully.

We ordered a custom, wider than standard table and a bench. Both were delivered satisfactorily. They are very heavy and strong pieces of furniture which have attracted many favourable comments and will no doubt last a very long time. Thanks.

Our whole interaction with this company from start to finish was absolutely outstanding! We chose the beauty and simplicity of the mango wood collection but also chose because of the company’s ethos. We ordered from Northern Ireland and had to change date a few times but nothing was any trouble for the customer service team. Their kindness and care is the best i’ve ever experienced. We love our furniture and has made our Apartment complete. 5/5

I ordered a £1500 made-to-order table and bench from Hemming and Wills in November. It was delivered in December, but the experience from start to finish was a nightmare. The table arrived with a terrible finish - rough and clearly not up to standard. The installer quickly assembled it and left without any checks or care. On top of that, the bench didn’t have the correct stain, so it didn’t even match.

I was told the finish was not correct and a replacement table top and bench would be sent, which took nearly 2 months. When the new table was installed, the fitter pointed out a crack on the table and said that’s normal because it’s reclaimed wood but said to report it if it got worse. Two months later, the crack ran the entire length of the table, and a separate section of the wood where it had been joined and glued had split apart and dropped.

When I emailed to resolve it, I was told that they believe the issue was caused by nearby radiator, despite the damage being furthest from it, and the bench (that was sat directly next to and closer to the radiator than the table) having no problems whatsoever. No ownership of their shoddy workmanship, just excuses.

I found out during the process that their made to order furniture is actually manufactured by an external carpentry company that also are the ones who deliver and install, with Hemming and wills basically being a broker. They pretty much have no control over this company and any time an issue is raised they have to go back and forth to discuss this externally. This external company also just book in delivery and collection slots without any notice, even after I repeatedly asked to be contacted to arrange a date to ensure someone was home.

Full refund finally given after collection was made but six months of hassle and £1500 out of pocket all for nothing. Avoid this company completely for any made to order items.

The customer service is amazing quick and efficient delivery and quality of the furniture was absolutely amazing. This is the first time we have brought furniture online as appose to visiting the conventional high street furniture stored and we were so impressed..the quality of the furniture is so good and the look is also unique and all our family friends have been very impressed. Furniture is beautiful and of very high quality. Great experience from start to finish - great communication, smooth delivery and packaging was super protective. Products perhaps at highest price point but, in our opinion, worth it.
