Today I spoke to a member of HalifaxâŠ
Today I spoke to a member of Halifax Claim team,
June Brown.
I am in my late 70âs and registered disabled after several mini strokes.
I was nervous and âŠ.as it was over 15 years since we last had a claim on our house insurance. I hadn't a clue how to put a claim in for damage caused by a severe storm.
Ms Brown was incredibly helpful and kind and I highly recommend anyone seeking assistance to speak to her!
She explained everything connected with the claim patiently and in great detail âŠtaking time for it all to
register with me!
I cant tell you how much I appreciate her compassion and understandingâŠ.qualities that made a tremendous difference to me.
I wouldnât hesitate to recommend the Halifax home insurance to everyone.
Excellent claims experience!
The best measure of the insurance company is when you make a claim. I was burgled whilst on holiday in Barbados.
Firstly, I was able to easily log my claim whilst on holiday via the online chat. This enabled me to understand what evidence I need to bring back.
Secondly, Halifax called me on my return (it was a busy time due to the recent storm claims) and quickly processed/validated my claim. They even text me in advance of the call so I know it wasnât a junk call.
Thirdly, they paid my claim within 2 weeks of the incident.
The initial cost of the policy was also very competitive .
Overall I couldnât have wanted a better experience, excellent!
Personally, I think this is the advantage of dealing with a big established and reputable company like Lloyds Banking Group (Halifax are part of LBG).
Four floods in three years - excellent servic
Four floods in three years.
Without the help and support of our Assessor, Andy Burrows, our home would not be the warm, dry and comfortable as it is. Andy took great care to support us from a mental health welfare point of view along with listening to our concerns and acting on surveyor recommendations. This over the full four years it took to strip out the damage, dry the house and reinstate through the âBuild back betterâ scheme which we were lucky enough to be on the pilot programme. We cannot thank, enough, Andy and the team at Halifax Insurance for his help and understanding, especially regarding the specific needs of an older property.
If i could i would leave 0 stars
If i could i would leave 0 stars. Bully tactics, took months to give me a decision.
I had a pipe leaking before going Halifax, was planning to make a claim, cancelled and had the leak fixed myself.
Joined Halifax, Found a new leak and we had flooding in 2021 due to heavy rain.
The jobs were quoted by 2 different contracts who sent me a word document and i put it into PDF. So my name shows that i created it. Hold no merit.
Lost adjuster said they will only pay less that £2k.
Was not happy put in a complaint. They sent, what it seemed like a private investigator. Asked me question that had no relevance to the claim i.e. my kids name and DOB.
Fought back and forth, he kept trying to make excuses, avoiding to paying. Finally they sent there own contractor. Who came out and said it is really bad and i was right and it will cost allot of money to fix. ( More than 2K).
They still delayed, at the end i gave up 7 months later issues got worse. I told them to forget the claim, i will be doing the works myself and that they are a complete waste of time.
The investigator decided to find something he could use to say it was a bogus claim even though he had been to my house and can see the damages. Said the quotes i send has my name, and the damp is caused by the previous leak and that i am lying and this is fraud. I replied to his bogus claim with 19 page letter and thought that was the end of that in 2021.
Found out now after searching everywhere he put a fraud marker on my name without informing me and replying to my email.
AVOID HALIFAX AT ALL COST.
I am now on having to spend more time and more money to remove this bogus Fraud claim which could take weeks or months. And there is no real help anywhere. I cant open up a basic account.
They will bully you out of paying, they will mistreat you and make you feel belittled. I have never done any fraud in my life and to be honest i never been so worried.
Disgraceful con merchants
Like all others on here would give none if it were possible. Storm Darragh lifted some slates and ridge tiles from my roof, claim rejected as caused by 'wear and tear' and lack of maintenance, despite loft being bone dry apart from where tiles lifted off. Why insure Victorian houses if they regard them as worn out even though they are better built than modern homes?
Con merchants, they have collected buildings premiums for years and won't acknowledge storm damage, shame on them.
0/10
Would give 0. Any excuse not to pay out. Storm damages and they say it was wear and tear. All from a picture of the damage. Never sent anyone out. No issues before the storm and have a home report confirming no absolutely no issues. To get told that âthings can go on behind the scenes and need to maintain the homeâ! Changing insurers will never use again!
Terrible Halifax home insurance service + An Incompetent investigation, totally ignored two independant damp expert builders assessments.
I raised a claim and the Halifax investigation team didnât do their job properly. Iâve had Two independant builders who specialise in damp, and who both confirmed the cause and effect of my damp to my conservatory wall. It was from my next door neighbours leaking overflow (evidence of this provided) into my home. The Halifax investigation team didnât call on that independant expertise evidence and thought they knew better. That evidence they provided proved to me with no doubt the root cause. Both builders had seen this before and confirmed the cause and diagnosed the effect. They hadnât spoken or knew each other.
The reason the Halifax investigator has given me for the damp was incorrect.
Ignorance, apathy, and incompetence from the investigation team. Or, maybe too much work to do their job effectively, who knows, but itâs a terrible mistake and service.
You have got this case wrong.
24 + years of loyalty with this insurance company and the first time I needed help they let me down. Iâve obviously now changed my insurance company.
What an absolute shower of a company
What an absolute shower of a company. Rubbish. Never again. Gutted I had to give one star.
Rubbish company
Rubbish company. Would not go with them again. Had roof tiles blown off and surveyor came around and said no they won't cover it as it was classed as lack of maintenance with the tile mortar!!!! Apparently in the small print it states this. Couldn't see it.
Halifax Insurance Avoid
Halifax Insurance - AVOID
They will do anything to not pay out and the customer service must get a bonus for saying no as she was so happy giving me the bad news!! I stupidly didnt realise my Hob came under buildings insurance and not contents so my fault but she was pleased to say it wouldnât have mattered they still wouldnât have paid out because I broke it by cleaning it!!! Apparently cleaning makes insurance nul and void.
I will not recommend them and will not be renewing with them. I wonder whether there is any point to insurance at all. The terms and conditions are book size.
DO NOT USE FOR HOME INSURANCE
DO NOT USE FOR HOME INSURANCE. I WOULD GIVE MINUS 100 IF I COULD . THEY WILL FIND ANYWAY TO GET OUT OF A CLAIM . I HAD Q LEAKING ROOF AND HAVE BEEN INTO THE POLICY FOR YEARS AND WAS DECLINED BECAUSE IT HADN'T RAINED 25MM IN 24 HOUR PERIOD ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SCAMMERS

I accidentally broke my TV. The claims person was completely amazing and dealt with my claim straightaway and the whole online process was also very easy. Thank you so much Rebekah, for making a very stressful time less stressful
First time have made a claim off myâŠ
First time have made a claim off my insurance. Reading all of the negative reviews I was very sceptical about the whole process. MBNA made the process really easy and straightforward and I just want to say thank you and to Owen Pugslay who helped me load documents for my claim. Thanks Mbna a fantastic service
Unacceptable level of service
I have been with Halifax Buildings and Contents insurance for several years but not had to make a claim until a water leak which damaged a wooden floor in October 2024. Despite a prompt claim and providing information multiple times, I still do not have a date when the remedial work will start, what work will be done and how long it will take. The personal claims handler assigned to the claim seems to take no responsibility for resolving the issues. Halifax say they have only one contractor in my region for managing out the work, so one wonders how many other claimants are in the same boat. A formal complaint about poor service has been upheld by Halifax but that has made no difference to actually getting the work done.
Brilliant!
Made a small claim due to dropping a tin of paint covering our new carpet, walls, shoes, coats ect. Paid out within 2 weeks. Excellent customer service, and quick settlement.
Check your renewal premium
I am satisfied with the service Halifax offer but not the renewal process. Our renewal quote came last week and was £433, up from £366 last year. I went to their "myrenewal" website and with 1 click it went down to £377. This is a warning, particularly to people with relatives who might not be computer literate, to go though this process as they say "As discount is not always available we are unable to automatically apply it to your policy but your intial price is always in line with what we would charge to a new customer so you are not being charged more or treated unfairly." As an ex computer programmer I treat this statement with the amount of salt it deserves.
Terrible.
Terrible.
Had a water leak and was told someone was coming for 12 hours.
"On their way just 2 more hours"
Never came.
Avoid.
Useless waste of money. Borderline fraudulent selling of "emergency cover"
Do not use Halifax for home emergencyâŠ
Do not use Halifax for home emergency insurance. I experienced a Water leak at home so called for assistance to be told that they canât help me unless I can stop the leak. Really defeats the purpose of paying for the service in the first place. Avoid at all costs. Will not be using again in the future.
Terrible - Halifax Home Policy with bolt-on AZP 'emergency cover' policy but they each point to each other and both have refused TWO standard claims that the policy documents say are covered!
Earlier this year, 2 squirrels dug into my guttering causing water ingress from the gutter to my bedroom wall. I contacted Halifax and I got a response that vermin damage isn't covered. However, the AZP Home Emergency cover DOES cover water ingress caused by pestilence but Halifax said they'd looked across both polices and, because Halifax had taken so long to answer my claim, AZP could no longer cover it as a Home Emergency!
Then, last month, I was feeling very ill due to my disabilities but had to attend an early medical appointment - I opened my front door to let my assistance dog go for a wee in front of my house but, partly due to my being half-asleep and partly because my dog dragged a squeaky toy out with him, I heard the front door Click-&-Lock behind me with keys on the INSIDE of door lock... I was locked out! My neighbour was up and he let me and my dog sit in their house to call AZP Home Emergency line and, when the call eventually got out through to a human, they asked a few questions before telling me that, because my house was effectively secure I'd have to pay £200 on-the-spot - my wallet was inside the house - plus, after paying, it was "up to a 24-hour wait after payment before they could send a locksmith out.
These 2 Halifax Home Insurance plus AZP Home Emergency policies are absolutely useless as both will reject any claim on the basis that the other policy is liable - Halifax says AZP covers it and AZP says Halifax covers it - I was sold this policy as a single cover policy for Building & Contents Cover with Home Emergency.
I've held buildings & contents insurance on my property for the past 30 years but the last 2-3 years with Halifax Home Insurance has shown their policies to be AWFUL!
Phoned up to make a claim rain comingâŠ
Phoned up to make a claim rain coming through flashing on into bedroom cannot accept my claim because the wind was registered at 48mph not 55mph been with Halifax insurance 27 years absolutely a joke
