This platform is designed to steal your money and keep you in with hardly any way out. If you love yourself and your bank card, DO NOT add it on this platform. It's on some dystopian level episode out of black mirror.

I only have good things to say about IxDF. I took excellent courses with Ivy League content, learned a lot, and met great people in my city along the way. The community is real; there are meet-ups every now and then. It's not just a platform with online courses. I strongly recommend the IxDF community.

I was charged for an annual membership I never authorized even though I cancelled my free trial.

They are using dark patterns within the platform and in their billing options. I have completely lost my trust in the platform.

Not recommend it to anyone!

IDxF is an amazing platform, an integral digital product design institution and structure, always updated with professional labor market trends and industry needs. With Faculties, infrastructure, and instruction at the first level in experience and knowledge, with webinars and workshop updates for the fast-paced industry, and always taking care of members and students, we are receiving all the information, knowledge, and tools needed to keep growing professionally and in our community.

I’ve been using Interaction Design Foundation since 2017, and it has been a valuable platform throughout my career as a UX designer.

One of the biggest strengths is that the courses are self-paced, which makes it easy to combine learning with full-time work and everyday life. As someone who has at times worked as a sole designer, it also felt genuinely nice to be part of a larger design community.

The course structure is well thought out, combining video lectures, reading material, and practical design tasks in a way that keeps the learning engaging and applicable. I also appreciate the large variety of courses and the amount of additional guides and topic-specific reading material available on the platform.

Another thing worth mentioning is the support. Whenever I’ve reached out with questions over the years, I’ve always received quick, kind, and genuinely helpful responses.

To make this a full 5-star experience for me personally, I would love to see the option to pause a subscription. A pause feature would feel more user-friendly and flexible for real-life situations, rather than feeling forced to renew in order to keep access to completed courses and progress.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend Interaction Design Foundation to both designers and people curious about interaction design who want to grow professionally and build their knowledge in UX and design.

I had a wonderful experience with the Interaction Design Foundation over the past year. The courses were well-structured, insightful, and easy to follow, especially for someone growing in UI/UX and user research. I appreciated the flexibility of self-paced learning and the supportive learning environment they create.
IxDF helped me deepen my understanding of design thinking, user experience, and human-centered design principles while allowing me to balance learning with other responsibilities. I also found the content practical and inspiring for both beginners and professionals.

The topics are great and interesting but for a UX platform they don't practice what they preach. It doesn't cost much to modernise the content make it more appealing, the amount of reading and repetition is exhausting, i love the knowledge testing and the information it's the layout of the courses what I dislike, jumping from text to video to quotes back to endless repetitive text makes it so hard to finish a course

A Game-Changer for Experienced Professionals

I've been in web development for over 20 years, so when I started taking courses through the Interaction Design Foundation, I wasn't sure how much new ground they'd cover. I was wrong to doubt it.

I've now completed 6 courses and earned certifications in all of them, and the impact has been real. IxDF didn't just fill in gaps — it sharpened my thinking, deepened my understanding of UI/UX principles, and gave me the confidence to step into bigger roles. Since I started, I've been promoted twice and now serve as UI/UX Manager at my company.

The courses are well-structured, practical, and genuinely applicable to the work I do every day. Whether you're newer to the field or a seasoned developer looking to formalize your expertise, IxDF meets you where you are. For me, it was the validation and vocabulary to back up what I'd been doing instinctively for years — and that's been invaluable.

If you're on the fence, just start. It's one of the best professional investments I've made in my career.

I was charged $264 for an annual membership I never authorized. When my company's IxDF account was canceled, I received a notice that my company profile had been converted to my personal account with 16 days to cancel or else be charged with my personal card on file for an annual membership.

When I contacted support for a refund, a refund was denied and I was offered extra months and free classes instead, which doesn't address the core issue. I did not consent to charge my card for a membership I did not sign up for.

This is a dark pattern in their billing system and they have lost my trust in their platform.

I was automatically charged for a renewal I had not intentionally authorized. I cancelled immediately and never used the service after the renewal date. My refund request went completely unanswered.

To make things worse, the cancellation flow is a textbook dark pattern — as already noted in several previous negative reviews — multiple confirmation checkboxes and immediate access cut-off upon cancellation, clearly designed to discourage users from leaving.

The irony of a platform dedicated to UX education deploying these tactics is hard to overlook. I would not recommend.

If you wish to unsubscribe, they will cancel your account immediately, including any future membership you have already prepaid.

They will then delete access to every material you have permanently bought and remove all your certificates.

In order to be allowed to cancel the subscription, you have to click 7 or so checkboxes and warnings that you understand they will delete everything you have bought from them.

These are UX experts. They know every dark pattern they are applying, and are using them in the most toxic ways by deliberate choice.

This helped me a lot in creating Landing Pages for our clients. We as a team of creative spearhead the designs in LAZADA and SHOPEE. Using all the theories that i have learned.

The method of teaching is really boring and they use a lot of dark patterns to steal money from you.

If you try to cancel your subscription, they remove your access completely even if you’ve paid for a year’s access, so it forces you to stay subscribed hoping you’ll forget to cancel at the end so they can charge you for another year and then they absolutely refuse to give you a refund. I managed to get a refund in the end but only after going back and forth with Rikke, the co-founder, for a whole week and repeatedly stressing that I wasn’t in a financial position to pay for another year’s subscription which honestly felt humiliating.

Interaction design foundation has caused me significant stress because of this and I would avoid them at all costs. It’s atrocious and I can’t believe they choose to make a living doing this to people.

I’ve since just bought UX books and they’ve been a significantly better way of learning, so much cheaper, and they allow me to actually keep what I’ve paid for!

IxDF.org is a solid, professional platform that covers pretty much everything in modern UX and product design. Courses, masterclasses, community, a knowledge library, and career paths. It’s all there. What stands out is the quality. The content is not fluff, it’s structured, practical, and actually useful in real work. Whether you’re just getting into UX or already in the field, it helps you think better, work smarter, and get your solid knowledge structure. It’s also not just about learning, there’s a real ecosystem: community, job direction, and a sense of progression. IxDF feels like a serious tool for modern designers, developers, and product specialists. Focused, exclusive, and genuinely helpful.

IxDF stands out for how intentional and well-crafted the learning experience is. The courses aren’t just theoretical—they’re structured in a way that actually sharpens how you think and approach design in real-world scenarios.

The platform strikes a strong balance between depth and clarity. Concepts are broken down in a way that feels accessible without losing substance, which is rare. It’s clear a lot of thought has gone into both the curriculum and how it’s delivered.

Overall, a genuinely valuable resource for anyone serious about growing as a designer. I’m looking forward to coming back and continuing where I left off. The courses were really a lot of fun. 😃

The subscription model and pricing on this site has dark UI employed to hustle you.

Some of the courses are great and some of them are simplistic, there is a tedious section at the start of every course that teaches you how to get the most out of the course. To be able to get the certificate you have to go through it each time which is an example of some suprisingly unintuitive UX for an interaction design platform.

Subscription is a yearly payment, not monthly. And you only have access to your account for the duration of that subscription. Once that subscription ends you no longer have access to the courses, classes, community or profile.

If you forget to cancel your subscription, you will not be given a refund.

UPDATE (March 2026): I am updating this review while clarifying the resolution mentioned by the business.

While I did receive a refund, it was issued without addressing my last email. I had proposed a 60-day grace period so I could finish the courses I had already started. Instead of replying to my proposal, the business processed the refund unilaterally, which immediately revoked my access to all my course progress and my account entirely.

Although I am glad the money was returned, the claim that "the door is always open" is misleading. The communication I received felt cold and dismissive, and closing my account without any final discussion was a disappointing end to the conversation. This experience confirms my original point: for a design platform, the policies are rigid and do not prioritize the student’s learning. If you cancel, be aware that you lose all access to your work and certificates immediately.

IxDF has become a meaningful part of how I continue to grow as a senior product designer.

For me, the biggest value has been in the masterclasses. The format fits well into a busy schedule. They move beyond foundational UX theory and focus on how to think and make decisions in complex, real-world situations.

I’ve used IxDF both as a structured learning tool and as a reference when I’m in the middle of solving specific challenges. The content is clear and grounded in practical frameworks that translate directly into my day-to-day work – whether that’s shaping research, aligning stakeholders, evolving design work, or operating in the fast-moving world of AI.

One thing that has genuinely stood out to me is the support. Every time I’ve reached out, the IxDF team has responded quickly and been helpful in a very real, human way. That level of responsiveness adds a lot to the overall experience.

Overall, IxDF has been less about “taking courses” and more about continuously sharpening how I work. Especially valuable if you’re already experienced and want to operate with more clarity and precision in your practice.

Unwanted renewal, poor communication, no refund policy

Interaction Design Foundation renewed my membership and charged my card for another year without my explicit consent. I didn’t want to continue and only noticed the charge on my statement a few hours later.

When I asked for a refund and cancellation, they refused, citing a “no refunds on renewals” policy and only offering extra months, transfer, or donation of my membership instead of giving my money back.

They will send marketing emails WITH the renew information. Their renew email is called "Get ready for another great year with IxDF", with a lot of courses links, and THEN the renew information, so it is easy to skip.

As an EU consumer, I expect clear consent for renewals and fair treatment when I promptly say I don’t want the service.

Same as a lot of people here, and based on my experience, I can't recommend Interaction Design Foundation and strongly advise others to be very careful with their auto‑renewal.

I joined the IxDF because I was curious about UX. How did it make a difference in the way I experienced products I loved and others that I didn't? I learned that it starts and ends with people. From the tools, methods and processes through the approach and the attitude of empathy the UX design method is human centred. An intuitive no-brainer, eh? But, in every situation in all my various career paths, I would be called on to advocate for the human centred perspective because, in the sturm & drang of product development, the critical human centred focus can be drowned out by the urgency of conflicting agendas. The call of ROI is very compelling but the faith in the UX process comes from the experience of its efficacy. It works. Time after time and the IxDF people helped me every step of the way by being very human themselves. Behind the programming are problem solvers, educators, mentors and friends. I endorse them without reservation.
