I was basically forced to insure my new vehicle through carvanna with root, I figured what the hell. I then tried to cancel after I took delivery, and I was on the phone for twenty minutes, on hold with a rep in India, and still couldn't cancel, he said that I would have to be on hold for another ten minutes minimum. I said no, and he told mr to download the app. I did so, canceled my policy with eleven days left, and still got charged another eight dollars, instead of a refund , like any other trustworthy insurance company. I will never recommend this company to a friend, nor use it again. I'm saving sixty dollars per month by breakdown with progressive. I hope that the one third month, plus extra eight dollars is worth it, because I will always down this company. Thank you for being another opportunistic, and under performing company.

I was on the phone for 35 minutes and couldn't get an answer to a simple question. All their agents are from some foreign country and have problems with English. The agent kept saying the same thing that was not part of my question. (Does a vehicle for sale need to continue having liability insurance if no one is driving it? Any potential buyer that would wreck the car on a test drive would need to file a claim under his or her insurance, correct?)Good Luck if you want to try getting any straight answer. God help someone that would need to file a claim, it will take days, I'm sure.

Warning they track through the root app. My insurance when up $30 in 3 months. No pass tickets or accident.Coverage is little to none yet so expensive.They track on your phone through GPS. Kinda creepy. They have a reputation for rise rate.

Easy. Fast. Fair price. All good but insurance is expensive everywhere. I don't know the quality of care until I get thru my first experience with Root. If my price lowers in 6 months, I'll probably stay, raise any more and I'll shop around. Time will tell.

They make you think your saving money and that with the test drive your payment may go down um no my driving score was 9-10 and they still couldn’t give me a legit reason why I’m being canceled had the wrong credit score for me and everything !! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME !!!

Root made it easy for me to get insurance.

I needed insurance for both vehicles, one owned, the other financed and Root Insurance made the entire process extremely easy and expeditious!

I've used root for over a year. Husband had 2 accidents last year no problem with claim. In April my son had an accident its been almost 2 months with no communication on paying out my claim.

The test drive is simple and easy to use. The app is also easy to use. Root holds true to their promise to give breaks to safe drivers. This is important to me, being I am not paying for other drivers who are not so safe. I believe this value they have promotes safe driving habits. The insurance is high standard and to add more coverage to your policy is very reasonable. Highly recommend Root. I am more than satisfied with my experience and the insurance I have with Root.

I got a car 6 months ago through carvana and they had a partnership with root. So I selected it with the 'hassle free' car purchase. Root is a terrible insurance company that requires you to have an application on your phone for ANYTHING, to pay your bill, to cancel it, to do anything! You have to have this application on your phone that will override all of your permissions, including battery optimization, because all of the things it's going to be snooping on will drain your battery quicker than you could ever catch up with. You would think calling the 1-800 number holding your debit card in your hand could get your bill paid but no, they refuse to take it over the phone. It must be done through the app because they want you backed into a corner with no choice but to put that terrible privacy eroding application on your device. Don't do it. Don't give up your battery and don't give up all of your privacy. And it's not even worth it because they're not that cheap. Not at all.

I enjoy the cheaper saving on insurance but.. I pay $16 on fees alone for installment fees and renewal policy fee. They seem to want you to want you not to pay monthly.

Worst insurance I have ever had. I lost my job because they wouldn't send coc documents in time. I waited 5 days and they refused to send them. They won't send documents to the bmv on time and your license will get suspended and they just keep saying 5 to 10 business and still don't send it. Get progressive they send all documents needed asap

I’ve had Root Ins approx 1 1/2 years. Recently, we had a hail storm and I contacted Root Thru their claims app on my account. I immediately received a response requesting pics of the damage - submitted my pics (white vehicle) which was hard to see the damage. They issued a check within 1 day byof their estimated costs and told me they know the damage was probably more and I could take to any local repair shop in my area. I got in two weeks later with the dent repair shop and they submitted more photos and damage costs - Root didn’t hesitate to pay. They authorized the repairs (over $8000) the same day and also contacted car rental for me to drive vehicle while mine was being repaired.
I had nothing but excellent customer service when I received emails and actually phone calls from my adjuster. I give them 5+ stars if I could. Anytime I’ve had any claims in the past with local popular insurance companies I was told I had to go to certain shops and the insurance adjusters made the decision as to what was needed.

Bought insurance for a car that I purchased through Carvana - returned the car to Carvana the next day because of mechanical issues. Had to send them a letter that the car was returned, but THEN in order to get a new quote, they charged me even MORE money telling me that I had to REINSTATE the policy I had in order to get a new quote. Ultimately, I did not choose to go with Root for my insrance and they refused to refund that extra money until I got YET ANOTHER LETTER from Carvana with a new current date on it....WTF???? RUN...RUN FAR, RUN FAST - RIP OFF! Ran me all over hell and back to get my refund for a policy that I never actually used!

My experience may be totally different from others, but these guys are rude, miss leading and above all discriminatory. I pay 250 for liability.. yeah.. I know..
