Every new build has snags. Most are minor, but some are not, and we tell you which are which. Knott Brothers Limited is a specialist new build surveying practice. Our surveyors are individually accredited by RICS and/or RPSA. We inspect your home, report exactly what we find, and put it in proportion. If your home is in good order, your report will say so. If it isn't, it will say that instead. You get a photographic, room by room, plain-English report within 24 hours, with a clear list of what to raise with the developer. We support the New Homes Quality Code and recommend having your survey before you complete wherever possible. Our support doesn't end with the report: clients often come back weeks, months or even years later, and we're glad to help. We were founded in 2023 by two directors who first spent five years building small housing developments of their own, so we know how new homes are built and which snags matter.

Absolutely amazing service from start


Absolutely amazing service from start to finish. Initial communication with Hollie was amazing and they were on it, contacting my developer and getting booked in. The surveyor was amazing and produced the most amazing report that we have been able to put to the developer highlighting all the issues with the property. The report was completed and sent to me on the same day.
Fully recommended if you are buying a new property.

Great experience from start to finish. Hollie was excellent as the main point of contact—organised, responsive, and kept everything running smoothly.
The two surveyors were punctual, professional, and very thorough, taking the time to check everything carefully and explain their findings.
The report was clear, detailed, and delivered quickly. Highly recommend.

Knott Bros exceeded our expectations. Hollie was amazing and responded to our emails immediately. The report, with supporting photos, was received on the day of the survey. It was easy to understand and very detailed. We would highly recommend their services.

From booking the survey in to receiving the report, the service has been great. The report is detailed and clear and Hollie sent it to the developer on my behalf the day after the survey took place. I highly recommend this company

Confused professional shoddy job

Our 3 BHK property was snagged by an expert as per Knott Brothers. He talked and talked but was confused with basic tap functioning on hot and cold water. He did not even check for hot water running on top floors and we paid around 500 quid for this. When contacted about issues we faced due to poor snagging, they mentioned about pictures for investigation which is more effort and time waste. I should have saved this amount and better to start livikg there to figure issues by yourself with common sense and tools from amazon.

Based on your reply today, there was no monetary refund that we requested and I mentioned that I was not keen on your investigation procedures and neither I wanted to waste anymore time or effort sending pics and evidences you requested over mail. Also all keys were available and we spoke on length with no clear acceptance. I have written the review so that others should understand the value of services!!

Dear Avinash,

I am sorry to hear that you were extremely disappointed with our service. As you say, we began a formal complaint process when you contacted us, but you advised that you did not wish to proceed with that. I would be happy to continue this process if you would like to at any point.

We are always keen to ensure that complaints are handled in a professional manner, aiming to reach an outcome that is satisfactory to the customer. A critical part of this process is ensuring that we gather the complete list of issues a customer has upon first complaint. I am sorry that you felt this was not worth your time and effort, but given that your initial email only stated that you had “discovered several basic issues that we believe should have been easily identified by an expert. Plumbing with no hot water, door lock issues, etc”, I hope you can see why it is important for me to ask for more information.

Additionally, I could see from your report that our surveyor had identified an issue with the hot and cold water to the WC basin, and had not been able to test the patio doors operation because the keys had not been provided by the site team (despite request). Naturally, I’m therefore keen to understand if there’s any overlap between these issues and the comments in your email. As I am not present on site myself during the survey, my investigation always intends to clarify what happened – using information from the client, the report, the surveyor, and other parties if necessary.

I provided you with my direct contact details and invited you to provide a summary of your issues by phone or by email; namely a brief description of the issue, the location/room, and photo(s) only where relevant or necessary.

You called me after receiving my request, however you did not want to provide a list of issues via this call, instead you wanted me to proceed straight to a monetary refund of some kind. I advised that, while this may be part of an outcome to a complaint where relevant, I was unable to know if this was appropriate without investigation first. You were dissatisfied with this, and heavily implied that your review would likely be conditional on a refund value that I should decide upon without any further information. I declined, and explained that we send the review link to all customers without fear or favour, which is important because it is the reason Trustpilot state on our public company profile that we “ask our customers for reviews — whether positive or negative” and that this means we “tend to have a more representative star rating”.

Great service from start to finish

Hollie was great from start to finish. She provided a competitive quote and then managed the whole process to get my new home surveyed quickly. The report itself was excellent. It was delivered by email the day of the survey. I am so impressed with the whole thing. The snagger found a bunch of stuff I would never have noticed. Thank you Knott Brothers.

Snagging Survey, First class service

It was easy to set up our Snagging survey with Knott Brothers. Wonderful customer services with getting it all arranged. They did the survey on the day agreed. I received the comprehensive report from them on the same day. They were also able to share the results with the builder. First class service all around. I would highly recommend their service. Not cheap but did seem value for money.

Fantastic service from start to finish

Fantastic service from start to finish. I cannot recommend highly enough, especially if buying a new home, you ask the Knott Brothers Limited to come in and complete a snagging survey for you. They pick up problems you would have never have seen, that potentially would have given us a much bigger issue at a later date. Sorin was very thorough and very personable, and the report was back with us that night, which enabled me to send it back to the builder, who then sent someone in the very next day to begin fixing the issue. Best money I’ve ever spent. Highly recommend the Knott Brothers Limited

At short notice Hollie organised our appointment with the builder for a snagging inspection on our new house.
Craig carried out the inspection and emailed the report to me the same day and forwarded onto the builder, found 4red reportable defects which we won't have known about, all rectified by the time we moved into the property

Could be better

The surveyour did a great job at looking at lots of minor snags and significant major ones. However, a lot of issues with kitchen cupboards, door stoppers and flooring that were prominent were missed. It was much easier to capture these issues while the house was empty.

We are always happy to amend and update the report with any items a client may have noticed that were not included. Whether these are items that would usually be included, or items may be outside the scope of what a professional surveyor would include, we are happy to incorporate them into the report in a suitable way before the final version is submitted to the builder.
