Outlet chairs with significant defects and poor return policy

We ordered four outlet chairs from this webshop, described as possibly having “minor marks or imperfections.” However, no specific information or images were available at the time of purchase. Upon delivery, all four chairs showed visible damage of scratches up to 20 cm and staining errors on all panels, which in our view exceeds what most customers would reasonably consider “minor.”

When we requested a return under the 14-day right of withdrawal (EU Directive 2011/83/EU), we were informed that returns are not accepted under their outlet policy, and that shipping costs would be fully at our expense. We believe this interpretation does not align with EU legislation, as the right of withdrawal generally applies to discounted or outlet items as well, unless specifically exempted — which was not the case here.

We also believe that the chairs do not meet the expected conformity with the contract as defined in EU Directive 2019/771, since the condition was not clearly disclosed. The seller has offered to send one replacement chair, but we feel this does not fully address the situation.

We have communicated our concerns and proposed reasonable solutions. If no agreement is reached, we intend to submit the case to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) for further assistance.

We are sharing our experience to inform other customers, especially those considering outlet purchases without clear product visuals or details.

We’re sorry to hear you're disappointed. The chairs you purchased were clearly listed as outlet items, described as having “minor marks or imperfections,” and priced accordingly. While outlet items may not include detailed photos of each imperfection, the listing made the condition and pricing rationale transparent.

You were offered a replacement seat and the option to return the chairs at your own cost, but chose not to pursue either. While we always aim for customer satisfaction, we do not believe a 50% refund is reasonable in this case, especially given the condition was clearly disclosed and the chairs were already heavily discounted.

We appreciate your feedback and our team remains happy to assist with fair and practical resolutions in line with EU regulations.

Beste Marcel Olsen,
Bestelling was ruim op tijd.
Echter de bezorgdienst GLS daar ben ik niet over te spreken.
Op 8 mei 2025 is het pakket met nr 00366607854188 geleverd op ons adres

Maar het volgende is gebeurd.
Pakje is voor de deur gezet. Wij waren niet thuis (met korte vakantie)en ook hebben wij hier geen toestemming voor gegeven.
Het is een pakket van bijna €100,00 en dit vindt ik niet kloppen.
Graag jullie reactie in deze.

De reactie van GLS was dat ze dit met de betrokken persoon zullen bespreken.

Ik blijf erbij dat ik dit geen goede gang van zaken is en voor ons zou dit een reden kunnen zijn om geen bestellingen meer bij jullie te doen.

Maar de stoel ( voor mijn schoonmoeder van bijna 100 jaar) bevalt haar zeer goed.

Tolle Erfahrung, sehr gerne wieder! Ich habe ein Stuhl bestellt und der ist gut und qualitativ verarbeitet, leicht aufzubauen und wÃŒrde schnell geliefert. Der Preis -Leistung ist optimal!

Wéér een kapotte stoel – teleurstellend traject

Ik heb drie stoelen besteld bij Marcel Olsen. Eén stoel werd beschadigd geleverd: markeringen met stift, verkeerd gemonteerd en niet netjes afgewerkt. Na het sturen van foto’s en veel overleg werd deze uiteindelijk omgeruild.

Helaas bleek de vervangende stoel na montage óók niet in orde. Opnieuw teleurstellend, zeker na een levertijd van maanden. De communicatie met de klantenservice was beleefd, maar het oplossen van het probleem duurde lang en voelde stroef.

Het product is prachtig in ontwerp, maar de afwerking en kwaliteit zijn wisselvallig. Dit hele traject heeft me veel tijd, energie en frustratie gekost. Voor mij geen herhaalaankoop.

Bedankt voor uw feedback. Het spijt ons oprecht te horen dat het proces frustrerend was.

We hebben de eerste stoel snel vervangen en hebben regelmatig contact gehouden om ervoor te zorgen dat het probleem zo snel mogelijk werd opgelost. Wat betreft de tweede stoel hebben we geen defecten gevonden - deze modellen zijn ontworpen met nauwsluitende schroeven om stabiliteit op lange termijn te garanderen, waarvoor stevige, gelijkmatige druk nodig kan zijn tijdens de montage.

We waarderen uw opmerkingen en zullen blijven werken aan het verbeteren van zowel onze producten als onze service.

We did arrange a prompt replacement for the initial chair and remained in regular contact to ensure the issue was resolved as quickly as possible. As for the second chair, we’ve found no defects—these models are designed with snug-fitting screws to ensure long-term stability, which may require firm, even pressure during assembly.

We appreciate your comments and will continue working to improve both our products and service.

Heerlijk zachte comfortabele bureaustoel

Bureaustoel besteld voor onze dochter
 een zachte en ecru stof! Werd netjes verpakt geleverd en was makkelijk te monteren. Onze dochter is er grote fan van. Zit heerlijk en past ondanks de armleuningen toch makkelijk onder haar bureau in. Een grote aanrader!!!

Mooie vormgeving, maar geen aanrader

Stoel gekocht. Mooi ontwerp, maar door productiefout niet in elkaar te zetten. Klantenservice is vriendelijk, maar nu 2 weken bezig om de stoel terug te sturen en andere opgestuurd te krijgen. Kost veel tijd, heen en weer gemail, wachten op koerier die niet komt, weer mailen, wachten
kleine maand na besteldatum nog geen concreet zicht op de stoel die ik besteld heb. Kortom ik zal het niet aanraden bij vrienden.

chair looked nice

chair looked nice, but the assembly was a pain in the a**. whoever engineered the screwholes, was (let me put it nicely) someone who hates customers. would i buy again, nope. BUT the customer service did their best to help. and the chair was quite cheap.
