Please please please do not use this company they put your payment's on hold for no reason and it can take up to a month to get your money so if you sell on ebay you have to use money out your own pocket to pay postage.you would think they would at least release your postage funds but no and there call center is the biggest wast of time they can speak English very well and have no idea what you are taking about. I am so sick of them holding every payment that once I have finally received my money I will cancel the account and never use them again a don't care if this meens I can't use ebay I just can't deal with this joke of a company any more it really is not worth the hassle

I used Paypal for there so called protection for purchasers. But the first time I received an item and tried to uses there purchase protection they didn't care and refused my claim. They didn't even read my complaint

I would give -5 stars if I could. The worst company that I have ever dealt with. They have the behaviour of a loan shark, customer service sucks and is useless. They have blocked my funds in the Paypal account without any legal or valid reason and without any explanation. This caused a great deal of damage to my business, leading to losing a great opportunity because I couldn't pay the upfront. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Went with the PayPal Here Reader because I foolishly thought they would be the easiest to use - How wrong I was.

Every transaction on the PayPal Here Reader is a problem.

The reader takes ages to link to iPhone (often almost 2 minutes) which can seem like a lifetime whilst customer is waiting and then often shuts down within 5 seconds of connection before customer can enact the payment, so have to start all over again.
This has lead to many lost sales as customers give up in frustration.

IMO this thing is not fit for purpose, so I am going to switch to one of the cheaper alternatives.

Been waiting weeks for account verification to be carried out (apparently a 48 hour job).
Call after call to a largely useless customer service department.
Finally told today that the verification hadn’t been completed yet because the person who had been assigned my account had been off sick for a long time and no one had picked up their work in their absence.
Utterly rubbish.
How can a global business like PayPal not have a mechanism to cover for staff absence?

Ive been Paypal on my mobile to accept card payments from customers for years. Its been fine until today when it wouldn't work! after 15 mins waiting on the phone (on a Saturday at 6pm, so that is forgivable!!!), I was told that because Id updated my second paypal account with the same mobile number the system was having a meltdown.

The solution. I deleted my mobile number from the second paypal account and re installed the app. All working now.

Its very convenient to take card payments with just my mobile. (I don't even need the card reader!

I am a sole trader take the payment on the card sometime bought a PayPal card reader after few months doing some transaction and the PayPal card reader showing it's a damage same happened with my other two friend is well contact PayPal one of the rubbish card reader in the market bought a sum up card reader much better than paypal card reader

Rubbish. I don't use very often but one person I buy from occasional only uses PayPal so no choice.
I also use to pay my computer security.
I logged in first time in months, no problem but notice a query transaction.
I query. As I log out my access is suddenly restricting and I can't get back Followed the resolution instructions to provide proof of who I am several times. I am still restricted. Absolutely disgusting. Don't use, ever.

Absolutely rubbish! Closed my account! 3 items ordered only 1 received. I proved seller had lied about 1) me not being in - I was in that day waiting for a plumber to arrive 2) that I gave wrong address single item left in my post box how possible if address wrong? 3) didn’t need to be ‘at home’ item was left in my postbox! PayPal totally disregarded the fact I paid for goods I didn’t receive, that the seller lied and PayPal were so slow to respond at every interaction. Disgusting!

I had €86.09 for renewal of antivirus taken from my account through PayPal. I complained to the antivirus company and PayPal and received no satisfaction from either. PayPal said in an email today that my claim was denied as I did not respond to additional query and I did TWICE. I discovered later that the antivirus company had sent renewal notice to my old email address even though company sent other information to my new one. I was particularly disappointed with PayPal paying it out without any consent from a loyal customer. So much for security, passwords & buyer protection.

Paypal were excellent in dealing with my complaint. Paypal upheld my complaint against Glencara Irish Jewellery, Galway, who are out and out scammers. Paypal were professional and very quick refunding my money back in just a few days the refund was in my account. Thank you so very much Paypal. I cannot praise Paypal enough.

Sold a low value item on eBay and despatched with proof of posting. After TWO MONTHS buyer claimed not to have received it. They complained to Paypal not eBay. I sent copy of proof of posting and comment that buyer had waited TWO MONTHS to complain, not to me, not to eBay just to Paypal. Guess what Paypal found in buyers favour. Are they crooks, you decide

I sold an item on eBay to what I thought was an legit buyer. The buyer then messages me on eBay 2minutes after they paid for the item (Via PayPal) to say do not send it’s fraud. So I do not send the item, I contact eBay and then PayPal. PayPal immediately refunds the money to the buyers account. I then resell the mobile phone to a legit buyer, eBay now decides to put a hold on the funds in my account until tracking has confirmed delivery. The phone was delivered tracking confirmed customer happy. Funds are released to PayPal. I try to withdraw my funds to find out PayPal now have a block on my account until I provide the following, 1. Photo ID 2. Proof of purchase, 3. Tracking information for the handset that was not sold which they already refunded to the fraudulent transaction. Not the second sale which was sold tracked and delivered. I was told if I supplied information 1 and 2 above my block would be removed after 24 hours and I can release funds. 4 days later my account is still on hold leaving me feeling like the criminal after I correctly informed all parties, item was sold as funds were needed quickly and the knock on effect is huge. I will never be eBay or there partner PayPal again

DO NOT USE PAYPAL I CANNOT WARN YOU ENOUGH!!!!!!! The worst decision I have ever made in my whole life was choosing The PayPal card machine. Please save yourselves days of stress by choosing iZettle instead. PayPal nearly lost me thousands of pounds if it wasn’t for iZettle who saved me. Your account might never get accepted so you can’t ever use the machine and then I spent 3 hours of my life trying to get someone to tell me how to return the card machine. They make it as difficult as possible so you can’t return it!!! They’re customer service is awful and the phone lines keep you waiting for HOURS!!!!

The Telephone service is shocking!!! and getting worse over the years.
It's Very sad when you see these Big companies with huge profits employ unsuitable candidates and not ensure Training/procedures followed properly for the safety and benefits of their Clients!

Paypal is the most useless company l dealt with so far. Not enough they take your money from your acoount when they should not, they deny it plus you cannot understand what they say as their agents cannot speak clear English. Get up to date PayPal or get
lost as you are causing a lot of problems for people and agro as you are totally incompetent!!! Taking money from customers account when order has been cancelled is not the right thing to do. You deny it but bank accounts and banks confirm it! Get your act right or get lost your are a most annoying problem for all of us useless you are!!

Excellent!! Reader turned up quickly. Very simple to use and started taking payments. Was let down with you izettle but glad I did this is perfect. Thank you

i never thought i would see the day i spoke out against paypal as i have always been happy with them , up until now that is , im shocked at the way i was treated, last week i noticed a transaction on my paypal account for over £400 which i did not recognise and sure enough , it was bogus ,so i immediately got in touch with paypal to alert them of this and they took my claim and said they would investigate , i got word back to say that the transaction was not unauthorised and would go ahead ??? but i didnt do this , so i waited
the next thing i know the cash is deducted from my bank account
so i go on the phone to paypal to protest , i told them i never made this transaction and that the delivery of the said item was made
to a bradford address whilst i live in glasgow , the parcel delivered by "ups" say it went to a domestic address, and was received by
a named person? NOT ME .. so then i asked the paypal op ,
where i stood and she says , theres not a lot we can do as the transaction was made? YES BUT NOT BY ME , then i asked
why they came to this decision and her answer was less than satisfactory , she said they looked at my buying history to help them decide ? which basically means "i wonder if this guy is at it?"
so then i said " are you saying that because i may have fallen victim in the past to fraudsters ( which i have several times) that i could be seen as a suspicious person? the answer shocked me when she said , well sometimes it works that way?? so i get diddled out of
£400 odd pounds , im the victim and somehow they switch it on me and i become the dodgy guy? its not my fault this happened and i resent their attitude in inferring that im somehow involved , meanwhile somewhere in bradford theres a person rubbing his or her hands revelling in their good fortune at having ripped me off ,
and no repercussions , im taking the hit for then and i got no support from paypal other than to infer "you could be dodgy mate"
bloody ridiculous , i actually had no protection and im deeply disappointed in paypal for acting and treating me in this way.
i appealed their decision so they are looking at it again but that wont really help will it cause whatever the outcome it will be held against me next time im unlucky enough to be scammed , so where are we now? well everyone should seriously take note that paypal only works when all is ok and if you become a victim of fraud more than once then in the eyes of paypal eyes you will be seen as the possible fraudster yourself , thats the price of becoming a victim , BEWARE , for the moment i have removed my bank account and debit card details until such times as my account and any oustanding payment or transactions are complete , then im off ,
the accusation that i may be dodgy really angered me , i didnt do anything wrong and yet im judged as guilty and the evidence used was "it happened to me before in the past" great eh?
i used to swear by papal and encouraged folk to use it as it felt protective and i was happy with that , no longer it seems im a bit dodgy now , for no protection paypal , thanks for accusing me paypal, thanks for insulting me paypal , your methods are wrong and you were wrong i did nothing wrong, but hey , what do you care ? after i made an appeal paypal decided the transaction was unauthorised after all??? so im not a crook after all then?

Shocking service, as a new business we put our faith in Paypal to provide card services. After applying and ordering the reader on 6th January and making over 10 calls in the last 5 weeks the service is still not working. Apparently this is as the verification team have still not verified our account. With our opening only days away I decided to use a different provider who in a little over 48 hours have me up and running with their card reader.

I've been using Paypal Here for a few years now after being let down badly by iZettle.

The system works almost flawlessly. I have taken in the region of £50,000 across almost 1,000 transactions and the only problems have been when I can't get a signal on my phone (which affects any system).

When I have contacted support over any issue, it has been dealt with quickly and effectively.

Unlike other systems, payment is virtually immediate. When you transfer your balance to your account it is in within minutes. Payments under £30 are by touch (if the card has that feature). Payment by PIN is trouble-free. Even payment by signature on the smartphone is easy (only done it twice).

You may not like Paypal because it is "a big American corporation" and it may seem cool (if you're a young hip dude who specialises in such attitudes) to jump on the bandwagon and say bad things about it (which makes me wonder why you bought it in the first place). But if you are interested in your business and know what you are talking about (and it is often clear you don't when you jump on bandwagons) Paypal Here for taking card payments as a small business is an ideal solution.

If you're going to buy a card reader, the sensible thing is to get it working and then comment on the company after you have some experience. Not being able to use it properly 10 seconds after opening the box isn't Paypal's fault.

Paypal Here works. Period.

Edit 2023: Paypal stopped the Paypal here service without warning in March this year. Well, with only about a month's warning. They bought out iZettle and that is now their provider. If you look at my review for iZettle, Hell would have to freeze over - twice - before I used them again. It means I have 3 or 4 PayPal Here readers which I have had to bin. I now use SumUp.
