I have used play.ai for over 18 months now. I teach languages and thanks to their service I was able to create my own listening activities and share them with my students in my widgets (from Bookwidgets). I was able to differentiate listening tasks. Unfortunately, Meta bought plai.ai and they are terminating their service. I did not even get an email from play.ai about their "retirement". Yesterday, I saw a red notice on their website saying that their service would end in 28 days. I am not impressed with the lack of courtesy. They could have emailed us 6 months ago.

Non existent technical and licence support, wordpress plugin stopped working, no response for over a month.

I am extremely disappointed with PlayHT’s affiliate program. They have effectively stolen my affiliate commissions. I reached out to them many times by email, but they never responded—not even once.

This month, they suddenly removed their entire affiliate program without any notice, and they did so without paying the commissions I had already earned. No explanation, no communication, nothing.

This is completely unprofessional and unethical. I trusted their platform, promoted their product, brought them real customers, and in return I was ignored and denied the commissions that rightfully belong to me.

If you are considering joining their affiliate program or doing business with them, be careful. My experience has been terrible, and I hope others don’t go through the same situation.

Working as a teacher

Play.ht sold lifetime deals to AppSumo Customers and, after starting at a handsome price, sold them to Meta without compensating lifetime users. Now no one is able to use it.

This app is very great and perfect but I don't know why it's blocked in my phone

This company is a total cash grab and scamming long time users and paying customers out of their money. Stay away of companies like this one, who don't honor agreements of services you paid for. Stay far away...

Scammers. They ripped me off my money

Renewed subscription and, almost immediately, the service stopped working. Attempted contacting play.ht, but no response. Filed credit card dispute, which h they fought, and won. Do not give these people a dime.

There was a time when I would have rated Play.ht relatively high. It was always a little inconsisted (having to re-generate multiple times to get a great outcome) but it wasn't so bad I would have given a negative review. Not any longer. Like some other reviewers, feel cheated as a left-behind early adopter who actually upgraded my iniital subscription and spent a lot of money with them...only to be left with no usuable product. Their support is now non-existent. Requests for support are NEVER answered. The Wordpress plug-in is defunct, and my account is stuck on the "free" version, even though I'm a paid user (and again, support is completely unresponsive).

10 days ago, I sent a message to play.ht support, and they have not responded. Basically, I have not received any email about a service evolution or a change. It's dishonest to act like this; it affects the accessibility of my content for people with disabilities and those who are digitally illiterate who visit my site. Their new services are just an evolution of the original service. And I can't switch to the new services, even by paying. It's honestly a disaster to act this way. Like many, I supported the company's beginnings in 2020. Unfortunately, they are not reliable.

AVOID! Absolute SCAM!
Took customers money, and relaunch the platform/services, rendering all previous licences and accounts useless.. over 1000$ LOST to this scam

They are scammers! BEWARE And do not give them your payment information! They took our payment and then canceled the account and support is not even responding!

I purchased lifetime access to play.ht in 2020 and helped this company get off the ground with many others by providing them with a massive influx of money.

Today I log in, my account is still active, but it is now labeled a basic free account with 6000 characters to use instead of 20,000 words.

Major rugpull, and it sucks. You should be ashamed.

No respect for customers. I purchased a Lifetime deal on appsumo that promised:
Lifetime access to Play.ht
All future Growth Plan updates
The company has now stopped honoring this deal and downgraded all early supporters to a free plan.

Avoid this site and find a TTS service that respects its customers.

Scam Warning !!!!!!!!!
I purchased a lifetime deal for this app, but it stopped renewing my credits without warning and the support team hasn’t responded to any of my messages.

Despite multiple attempts via different channels, I haven’t been able to connect with them to get an update.

They scammed founding members who bought a lifetime deal, including myself. Do not support this company!

Purchased a lifetime deal. They all of a sudden stopped renewing my credits and haven't responded to my support requests.

I followed up with AppSumo and got this response:
"We’ve reached out to the play.ht team after seeing their notice that the current version of the tool can’t be used to generate audio anymore, and that customers were asked to upgrade.

Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts through different channels, we haven’t been able to connect with them to get an update. At this time, we can’t confirm if or when access to the tool will be restored."

Stay away from these guys.

Bought and supported them via Appsumo in 2021. They sold us a lifetime deal for $299. Worked fine until recently when they have changed our paid plan to a free one with limited credits which ran out after 1 generation. No email to let us know, nothing on social media, just deleted our account and put us on free membership. Support is non existent and no replies to any emails. I would avoid this outfit based on my experience.
