Complete garbage support and crappy product.

Scammers and opportunists. We used them a few times with some success but once they sold they trippled their price and allowed all their products to fail. They do not respond to emails or chats. I have been trying to cancel my serive with them and they have us hijacked. How do we prosecute these jerks?

Great voices until you are in the middle of a project and they tell you they are 'sunsetting' end of year. Plus can't continue on a project because the voice I was using suddenly just disappeared. Hard to contact. Take money from your account without any reason. Dismissive when you complain. I would not advise using this company - I paid them for years for small jobs and then upgraded and that is when the problems started.

I paid for an annual enterprise plan and 6 month in it stopped working. I would get error messages everytime I tried to produce an audio file. I emailed Support and never heard from them. Instead my Studio, with all my files was deleted and my billing plan removed, I apparently have no paid service and no contact with them. They have also changed the name from Play.ht to Play.ai.-James

I was enjoying the service until on July 7th, our account was suddenly lost. In an effort to regain access because recovering my password wasn't working, I tried using my account to sign up again. To my disappointment it worked, but none of my account information or anything was there. I had no means of seeing what my invoices were, or stopping the account from charging me. I reached out to them via email, it seems our card has been charged, we still don't have access.

Do not deal with this company, they have no support at all and will steal from you.

Sometimes works, often doesn't.

They take money without authority and the customer service is non existant when reaching out x 3.

Magic Hour is miles better, and cheaper.

Since Meta took over this July, my PlayHT studio doesn't work and no one is replying to my support tickets. I paid $580 for a year's subscription in mid-March 2025, and it feels like my money has just been stolen and my entire livlihood taken away.

I am a broke indie author and was making my books into audiobooks. No one is replying to my emails, and I feel like Meta just doesn't give a damn and is basically stealing from the poor.

Other authors have told me that all the support staff at PLayHT have been laid off. In this modern world, I don't know how Meta can get away with doing this to its customers. $580 for a year is really expensive for me, and though they're supposed to be shutting PlayHT down at the end of December 2025 (2.5 months before my subscription is supposed to end,) my PlayHT studio is completely broken and won't generate anything!

Honestly, I am so upset about this. Also, I only had about half an audiobook to finish in my current sci-fi series. I'm so gutted. I feel completely robbed by a billionaire.

I paid and subscribed to Play.ht through a promotion which offered a lifetime subscription. Without any notification, they downgraded my lifetime subscription to a "Free Plan" and deprecated my files. They have ignored all email inquiries. They misled me and others. They don't value early supporters and are deceptive.

It's been a good part of two weeks and you can download anything you produce. Customer service tickets go unanswered... stay away from this rip-off!

Bloody scammers, they tried to make unauthorized transactions from my account, the removed the cloning feature without any prior notice and now it can't even generate a simple voice over. they say they will reply in 24 hours, but they never do. The day i bought it second time they removed the voice cloning, i ask for refund within first 24 hours but they replied after 2 day, telling me the time is up. Right now its been 4 days, whole platform is just went to hell and no reply from 2 days

Die Stimmen sind an sich ganz gut, aber bis man es einmal schafft eine Audio zu erstellen, bei der die Betonung auch nur ansatzweise normal klingt, braucht man mindestens 10 Versuche, dann mach das mal für mehrere texte und dein ganzer Tag besteht daraus, Lotto zu spielen, bis es nach teilweise Stunden endlich mal dazu kommt, dass man die Audiodatei für irgendwas verwenden kann. Der Supporthört einem ebenfalls nicht zu, beantwortet keine Fragen und kann bei wirklich keinem einzigen Problem weiterhelfen. Der Preis ist für diese Qualität und diesen Service den man bekommt eine absolute Frechheit und ich kann jedem nur empfehlen, alternativen wie elevenlabs zu benutzen.

I’ve used PlayHT for a while now, and while the platform has always had bugs, support used to respond within 24 hours—which made the experience tolerable.

Lately, though, things changed. The platform became nearly unusable: audio wouldn’t generate, timelines were full of errors, and suddenly, support stopped responding altogether. I’ve submitted multiple support requests and received no reply at all.

Then came the official announcement that PlayHT would be shutting down at the end of 2025. I only learnt about their acquisition by a major tech company through a news article, not from PlayHT themselves.

What’s truly unacceptable is that they’re still accepting upgrades and new sign-ups while knowing they’re on their way out. That feels deliberately misleading to long-time users who supported them early on.

It’s clear they’ve checked out. A global tech firm bought them; they announced a shutdown, and now they’re leaving loyal, paying users without the basic courtesy of support or updates.

I've been using this this app for such a long time, and now I unfortunately must admit, it is a total dumpster fire and u can't change my mind. it had so much potential, but it’s literally falling apart day by day. first, they cut the free trial from 12k words to 1k (???) lmfao what? now you can’t even properly test anything without paying. then they removed voice cloning, the one cool feature that made this app stand out. and now? you can’t even create new accounts. like... what the hell is going on?? everything’s locked behind a paywall, nothing works anymore, and support is just dead silent. people have been trying to reach out, but they don’t reply or even pretend to care. it feels like they’re just trying to milk as much money as they can before this thing crashes completely. sad to see it go down like this ngl. would NOT recommend unless they actually start listening to their users and fix their mess. I'm frustrated and mad af.

The platform has constant errors and bugs. Sometimes the end of the audio gets cut off, and worse, failed generations still deduct credits from your account. What’s even more frustrating is that they’ve removed the option to cancel your subscription directly from the dashboard. You now have to contact support to cancel, which can take several days. That feels misleading—especially when dealing with a time-sensitive subscription.

The product itself has great potential when it works, but the lack of reliable support and transparent cancellation options really undermines the overall experience.

Total scam, no support. My Appsumo lifetime account is now gone.

I subscribed to PlayHT for one month at $19 to test the platform. Before the renewal date, I attempted to cancel my subscription—but the option to unsubscribe simply did not exist. The site showed that I had no active subscription, so I assumed I wouldn’t be charged.

However, on the renewal date, my subscription suddenly reappeared and I was charged without my consent.

I immediately contacted customer support to ask for a refund and explain the situation. It’s been days, and I’ve received no reply whatsoever.

This kind of practice feels intentionally deceptive. If you don’t let users cancel and then charge them anyway, that’s not a legitimate business—it’s theft. I cannot recommend this service and strongly advise others to be cautious.

Play.ht stored my card details and made several unauthorized attempts to withdraw money from my account. Fortunately, my bank blocked each transaction. I contacted them multiple times via email, asking them to remove my card information and any other associated data, but received no response. Instead, they continued to send payment reminders for charges I never approved. Ultimately, I had to cancel my debit card and request a new one to prevent further issues. Stay away from this company.

love it and I'll love to get more of the service

Play.ht is the biggest scammer of all time! The most disappointing and dishonest companies I’ve dealt with. Yet another example of a business that lacks integrity and basic ethics. They used our money to grow their platform, only to abandon the very users who supported them early on. I purchased their 'lifetime deal' on AppSumo, which clearly included lifetime updates. And now, without any notice or explanation, they've removed my credits. No communication, no respect. Total scam behavior.
