Great, loved the experience

Doesn't even allow you to make or download audios on a free account.

I find Play.ht exceeds my expectations in a big way. The software is excellent, the interface is solid but super easy, and the support is certainly there. To be honest: the fact that I am dealing with Germany gives me peace of mind, they are trustworthy and keep their promises. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you.

I wasted numerous DAYS trying to get the high fidelity voice cloning to work. I provided it 4 different files all of which were over 45 minutes, the longest being 2 hours, and yet it failed every single time. These were professional recordings I provided that were recorded in a sound proof booth with high quality microphones.

I reached out to customer service and they said they would do it for me, however, 48 hours later and they have yet to tell me it is complete and now are completely ghosting me. They haven't replied to 3 emails and their chat service now gives me this as a response:

"Hey! We are offline at the moment, please leave a message along with your email and we'll get back to you once we are online "

This company is a rip off. If your voice doesn't pick up proper, they will try everything they can to keep you as a customer, but then ghost you when you actually start complaining and asking for your money back.

The key issues I have encountered include:

- Unintended breathing and laughing sounds are being added to my recordings.
- A completely different voice is being mixed into my recordings at random.
- Unrelated words and sentences appear that have no connection to the original content.
regenerating the same audio file multiple times due to errors in the output. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the unnecessary consumption of my remaining character balance.
I contacted customer service, and this was the response I received 3 days ago "Hey! We are offline at the moment, please leave a message along with your email and we'll get back to you once we are online"

It has been 17days and they have not responded to my query.

Terrible customer service. I purchased a subscription and canceled it after a couple of hours. I hadn’t used too many characters and was well within the terms of a 100% refund. The only good thing about my interaction with customer service was that the customer service rep (Natasha) had acknowledged/responded to my refund request promptly via email. At this point, I’d thought my refund had already been initiated, so when the rep started asking questions such as ‘What didn’t you like about our product? How can we improve it?’, I didn’t mind answering since the customer service experience had been pleasant so far. After I answered her first round of follow-up questions, she’d asked me more, and at this point, I was no longer interested in contributing to Play.HT’s research and development, so I didn’t respond. Fast forward three weeks, and I noticed that I still hadn’t received my refund, plus my account still said it had an active subscription. So I email the CS rep back to find out the ETA. This lady had the nerve to say (and this is verbatim) “I was waiting for your response to my previous email, which caused the delay.” …Excuse me? You were going to withhold my refund until I answered all your follow-up questions? Which I’d only done as a courtesy. So unprofessional, and I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy.

My experience with Play.ht has been very bad. First off, their "Unlimited" plan is not actually unlimited, you have to contact support just to find out what the real limit is. That feels incredibly misleading.

Beyond that, there are numerous technical issues. I reported several bugs to support over a month ago, and they still haven't been fixed. Most of the time, support couldn't even confirm whether the issues had been resolved and simply told me to regenerate the audio myself. This ended up wasting a significant number of characters, especially frustrating since the plan isn’t actually unlimited (which I didn't know before I hit the limit), and the bugs remained unfixed.

The audio generation process has major flaws, including random words and sentences being added that have nothing to do with the original content.

Additionally, generation times can sometimes take up to 30 minutes or more, making the service incredibly slow.

If you're using a custom cloned voice, there's also a chance that a completely different voice will be mixed into your audio.

I expected way better from a (expensive) paid service. Especially after seeing how much funding you guys received on X. Feels like the company is more focused on profits than delivering a good product and actually listening to the consumer.

I've been using this website for years. It's been great.

The AI is pretty mid, it stumbles as it talks, it adds its own words that you didn't even type, barely respects punctuation and it's not even that realistic. You could have at least downloaded your free voice overs until today, when they came with the brilliant idea of asking to upgrade your account in order to download them. Greedy, greedy

I contacted customer support 40 minutes after they charged me, and their refund policy states that if you contact within 24 hours you're eligible. I didn't get a response after two days via email. So I contacted them via chat bot. And once i threatened them to dispute it or contact my bank I got my refund within 30 minutes.
Based on the experience of others as well, they will completely ignore you and never give you your money back unless you threaten them.

If you're considering purchasing their services, be aware that "Unlimited*" is anything but unlimited. Transparency matters, and sadly, this experience has left me feeling cheated."

I’ve been unable to terminate my AI voice subscription with them despite multiple attempts to prevent it from auto-renewing. Every time I click “Cancel” I’m directed to contact support for cancellation. Unfortunately, my messages to support go unanswered. This left me no choice but to cancel my credit card to stop further charges.

The service is really good. I got human like voiceovers. Also the support is too great.

One of the standout features of Play.ht is their customer support. They are highly organized and responsive, often replying within minutes. I had a situation where I was automatically billed monthly before I could cancel. After noticing the charge, I reached out to their support team within 12 hours, and they processed my refund within a minute! Their policy is clear: refunds can be requested within 24 hours as long as your usage is under 5000 characters. They genuinely keep their word.

I’m so satisfied with my experience that I’m planning to upgrade to a yearly subscription in a couple of months, Lord willing. I highly recommend Play.ht based on my positive experience!

Play.ht has by far the best voices. I did a big project with this service where I replaced a teacher with play.ht narration and it sounded amazing. The instructor wasn't available to come into the studio to record, so they wrote scripts for us to have play.ht read. The videos turned out amazingly! I will definitely use play.ht for any voiceover needs I have in the future.

Die Stimmen sind ganz gut, aber die software funktioniert überhaupt nicht. Bis man was eintippen kann und die Stimme erstellt wird vergehen ewigkeiten, genauso wenn man etwas exportieren will oder wenn man eine speech recreaten will. Das programm löscht auch manchmal einfach files und hat extreme probleme eine internetverbindung aufzubauen. Der Support existiert entweder nicht oder er antwortet nicht. Um graue Haare und Stress zu vermeiden, rate ich dringed von einem Kauf ab.

if you decide to not continue because their so called instructors don't show up to any sessions. Give lame excuses to not show up multiple times. Supervisors cover up for them.
waste your time week after week.
Their policy states that you get 100% refund if your not satisfied.
Good luck in that. They never answer you back, and they only reach out to you once you dispute the amount , stating they will refund if you drop your dispute.

Play.ht has abandoned WordPress users completely. I've recently been in contact with them because the player shows an error on some posts. Support said they have discontinued the WordPress plugin and will redirect resources to enhancing other areas of the platform. Exactly one year ago, I upgraded and paid $348 for voice credits and still have a large number of credits to use. I'm very disappointed in Play.ht. I started with them from the beginning and supported them all the way. I recommend that you not purchase any services. They are likely to leave you hanging.

Play.ht used to be more reliable. Now the platform is unstable and 7 out of 10 times when generating a sample, I get the standard play.ht error message pop up.

The choice of voices are good, but the unpredictable play.ht platform is making me look at alternative choices.

Overall product is excellent. Customer support is quick and responsive (even on the weekend).
