Scam business with no customer service.
This is pitched to tenants as a good alternative to paying a traditional security deposit. However, if your apartment decides to submit a claim against this faux-insurance policy then Rhino will come back at you and expect you to pay the full amount of the claim. Not even a difference between what your deposit would have been and the claim amount. THE FULL AMOUNT. Not minus whatever you have paid in to Rhino. THE FULL AMOUNT. When you try and contest it they will not reply to your emails and have no phone number to reach them. STAY AWAY! Read their Better Business Bureau complaints - I wish that I had.
Reply: Except I try to dispute and no one responds to me by email. There is no working chat on your website. There is no phone number to reach out. How am I to accept a settlement? Dispute the claim? Anything? Your business only protects crooked landlords and should have a class action lawsuit.

Jacked up price
Site wouldn't let me change payment information, so my payment didn't go through because card on file didn't have enough to cover bill.
When I went in to try to pay it again, it'd been jacked up from around $200 to $750.
After checking with my bank, I found out they'd tried to charge the original amount a day early (when I tried changing payment info) and the new amount a few days later.

This is a scam you pay yearly for nothing because at the end of your lease they don't pay for anything they let the management company charge you for things that should have been covered. Stay away it's better to pay the security deposit than sign with these people there just stealing your money.

I was told to down load the app to get approved to rent a apartment in ghetto Gary I gave 1200 deposit but the apartment was run down with roach's and the property managers neglected the building I stayed in for year lucky I stayed that long now after contacting the company regarding the return of my deposit they tell me this is insurance you don't get your deposit back all these bad reviews and comments so you stole my deposit single parent w children whom lived in apartment building full of roaches bug infested units and had to throw away brand new furniture I no you don't steal people security deposits we are in titled to get back regardless I paid my rent on time I did not bring no roach's they were crawling up to the 3 Rd floor through the sinks and tub I had nothing to move there until months later with brand new furniture receipts they complex managers have failed all court inspections and also sec 8 inspection but sec 8 of Gary don't care who they put were any way but I want my deposit back of 1200 thank you i also took pictures after i left while I was cleaning the unit full of roaches terrible u steal people deposit

This company will steal your money after you cancel.
I had used rhino for my apartment that I was living in from August 2022 until August 2023. They continued charging me for a couple months before I noticed and canceled, to which they refunded me. I thought that was the end of it until I noticed they started charging me again and all throughout this year of 2024. I tried contacting them that I had already canceled and that I wanted my money back. They refunded me one month, but kept the other 5 or 6 months they charged me, and now claim that everything is settled and refuse to get back to me. It doesn’t help that the only communication with them is email, and I’ve sent countless emails just for them to say they have already resolved the issue and canceled my policy last month, although I had canceled it last year. This company will steal your money. Stay away.

Wish I could give zero stars to dispute these guys. I had a landlord send me a bill for nearly $1100 after moving out for prorated rent and excessive wear and tear. I disputed that. Then I get a claim from rhino for the same place for $400 which I figured was at least reasonable but no sooner did I set up a payment plan then rhino sends me another claim from the landlord for $1280. And get this. I got all of these bills months after having already moved out. Rhino asked me for documentation to dispute the claim, but what kind of documentation could I send when the landlord claims “excessive wear and tear” months after another tenant had already moved in? I wish I would never have agreed to the first claim and just let them send me to collections. Rhino is a scam that pays out on whatever a shady landlord decides to claim under the guise of a legitimate insurance agency and then collects the stolen money from previous tenants by threatening collections on their credit reports.

Using this company has been one of the worst experiences of renting. I was charged 152.00$ by Rhino for "lost rent". A claim which my landlord did not file. Additionally, they have no customer service! It's all AI and does not run efficiently.
Edit: I have emailed you 25+ times over the course if a week and recieved no replys.

Misleading emails
Misleading emails. This company is trying to trick you to paying for their service even though the only people who benefit is the leasing office and themselves. Any money you pay to them instead of the security deposit, you never get back. Moreover, if there are damages by the leasing office, they will still come after you for repairs.
Edit (in response to rhino representative): Yes, I agree that your offering is optional. And if your emails were honest and said that /instead/ of trying to mislead clients, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. But you do, you try to mislead clients with your email to say 1) it is necessary and 2) your cost is lower than a deposit (which is also false considering a deposit is refundable).

I wish I could give 0 stars, this company is the ABSOLUTE WORSE DO NOT EVER USE THEM.
They approve false claims from a pervious landlord of mine after we went to court and the judge dismissed the landlords case with prejudice resulting in the landlord having to pay.
If that wasn’t bad enough, they have done this WITHOUT A LEASE, which is against their own terms and conditions. Imagine a company that believes they’re above a court order and their own terms and conditions unless you’re willing to hire an attorney just avoid say think at all cost. They are not worth it. RUN!!!!!!

Rhino is useless. This is one of those scammers who only know how to collect money.... Nobody reads e-mails or takes customers' calls - I doubt this is a company at all - after your deposit, forget about reaching them.
My account is clean, and yet I keep getting e-mails that I have some outstanding claims! Guys, just send me a collector - okay! I have no time to deal with your broken system.
On the contrary, I owe you my security deposit - please, e-mail me my check for God's sake!
Follow-up! Rhino when can you send me my check? and can you stop sending me your BS e-mails please?

Rhino is a bigger problem than it is a solution
Rhino is incredibly hard to get a hold of and is only available via email and they take forever to respond. The bigger problem is Rhino paid a $5,100 claim that my property management submitted without Rhino notifying me in anyway. The claim was false. The property management claimed I hadn't paid my rent for months. I was able to get legal help and dispute ALL claims. If it wasn't for Rhino paying a false debt especially without further investigation none of this would have happened. All they needed to do was notify me or ask for further proof and I could have submitted my proof. Even after I disputed the claim through Rhino WITH documents and exchanges from my attorney Rhino only offered a settlement of $2100. This was after I provided every single shred of proof that I never owed a penny. I further explained that Rhino should be upset that they are now out the $5100 they paid to my property management company. It was a false claim to begin with and only myself and Rhino were out the money. After further back and forth ONLY via email (which made the whole situation that much more frustrating) Rhino closed the claim and my balance owed was $0.
Rhino is a bigger problem than it is a solution to the already simple concept of a moving deposit.

I have no clue what is going on around the world but here in Cincinnati Ohio we have been scammed a whole neighborhood of selected people have been scammed. Rhino has no way to contact them and the rental agency (City West Properties) is informing us whom paid Rhino insurance policies that they didn't receive a dime. Now we are required to pay a full deposit of 1225.00 as soon as possible. Now matter how big or small your policies were with Rhino, By the way this place goes by your income so some people have income of zero dollars. It sounds like they were hired to push us out.

It’s a scam insurance company that works with slumlords to break federal, state, and local laws to force you to pay because you refused to stay in an apartment complex that was infested with bedbugs and cockroaches; yet, they lied and attempted to cover up the infestation.

Really going down hill and fast.
This company used to be great and protected the landlords. This is no longer the case. They make up their own rules that vary from person to person. There is no consistency.
The company no longer has a phone number you can call and the chat feature is largely useless. It is a bot with prefilled questions you can click on with prefilled answers so you can't actually get any answers right away. Everything must be emailed and the response is received within 3-5 days.

They are robbing me of my security deposit of $2,695 and saying I owe them $3,400 for move out charges, this is absurd, I paid to have the house professionally cleaned and provided a receipt to Home River Group and they sent me a list of charges that said they paid $150 for cleaning, this is a scam if I have ever seen one and I demand my refund! And I will not stop here!

Not Happy with Rhino
There are times that I need to speak with someone for an immediate answer and cant. The chat bot never had anyone active to chat with so you were sent in a never ending circle and now that the chat bot is gone and the support ticket tab is there, I have submitted a number of issues that I need help with and none have been addressed. One of the last ones I put in, I requested a call for this morning at 9:30 (scheduled in on their link) and guess what? No call! I put in another ticket today because a new applicant is not able to set up her deposit and I get an email stating it has been cancelled and merged with the phone call ticket. This is how communication constantly goes with this company. It does have its benefits with being able to collect $ but the communication and customer service of this company is a 0 to me.
