How to tell if you are being scammed 101. Selfpublishers.inc scammed me for $32,000.00. I did not see it at the time. I wanted so much for my book to be published. Here are the clues. There was no written agreement at the beginning. There was no written contracts for publisher reviews. They would not promise a publisher review. I needed to do it. They promised a Wallmart contract for 2000 books at a profit of $20000.00 dollars. It wasn't until after I paid another #20,000.,, did I realize I was being scammed. Then, they had the ordacity to call, 10x for another $10,000.00. Thank G-d I had my dad's trust to rely on! I am a retired firefighter and federal police officer and they pissed off the wrong woman on this one. I filled FBI reports and Attorney general report. Their cite was suspended and the FBI is still looking for them. They think they know where they are. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. DO AN Ai search on publishers. Good news. I have a new publisher and they are the greatest. Wow. What a relief on Gateway publishing. Highly recommended. My book, Life is what you make it. This company does not honor their contract. I paid $16,000 to them to send 2000 copies of my book to airport book stores across the US. They guaranteed at least $24,000 in royalties. I hounded them for over a year to be paid. Recently, they said I have $29,000 in royalties due, but I needed to pay $5,400 for an Author’s License. Lie. This does not exist. Then they took my website down, claiming it had been hacked. They wanted $4750 to fix it and haunted me for days. My Aplus list on Amazon no longer brings up my book. I paid them to build a website.
I know where they are and it isn’t Battery Street in San Francisco. That is a rent-an-office building. Sent FedEx package from my lawyer to that address, receipt signature required. No one there heard of them.
I have filed reports with the FTC, the FBI and the BBB. Scammers at Digital Services and Self Publisers, Inc I am making it my life’s mission to expose you.
If you have been scammed by this group of bad people, file reports with the authorities. Keep prodding. Do not let them crush your creative spirit.

The written contract satisfaction guarantee is a lie. I spent 9 months waiting for a website to be delivered, and it never was. When I asked for a refund because I was not happy, they told me that the labor cost was not refundable, even though they recommended the site development and could not deliver it, regardless of how much time it took them. The social media campaign I paid for upfront was never launched. Which was promised to be launched right after the website they sold me on was complete. They robbed me of $9,000. I want to file a lawsuit, but Judge Judy has retired, and I cannot determine which state they are operating in. Please, I do not recommend these people.

I found this company to print my book "The Adventures of Harleiboo" in February of 2025. It was a new release for me, and in the search for a printer, they had a good deal for Valentine's Day. They wanted the funds up front, and I paid for 200 paperbacks and 200 hardcovers. They said they had their printing there, but it took me forever to get just a few copies of paper and hardcover (over 3 or 4 months) and they would arrive from LuLu; not their printing (if they even have one). Then they finally sent me the 200 total of paperbacks last month, after bugging them each week. I have yet to receive the remaining (over 150) of the hardcovers. They have ghosted me now since I confronted and put in a dispute on the whole B&N and Walmart books going to their bookshelves deal. 30 days now and no word from them. Luckily I put a dispute into cc company, and it will be honored if they can't prove it is legit. I told them I would sit down with him, his manager and their legal team to straighten it all out; but they ghosted me. I did get a few copies of poorly printed paperbacks from LuLu, so not out the total of 3500 plus for printing. Oh, and now LuLu tells me that I can't print with them because someone else has an account under my book name. I will now have to contact LuLu's higher managmenet to get them off account for my book (cause I really think I will never see the over 150 plus hardcovers now) A nightmare to say the least; so if you are with the company and look at this; please honor what you said you would do as far as printing and stop ghosting people. Who I worked with said his name was David (if that was truly his name now) and he was hurt and adamant they were not scamming me. But when I confronted them with a cut-and-paste picture they said was from someone actually going to a Walmart to take a photo of the book on the shelf, I found that same pic on Google pic search (just cut and pasted my book over another one). My profession is paralegal, so why they thought I wouldn't research the pic is beyond me. Beware, as there are so many publishing companies competing for business, and they will do anything to get that business, even if it means lying to do it.

Complete SCAM! If I could rate Self Publishers Inc. less than 1 star, I would. This company defrauded me out of over $1800.00. I have requested a refund twice to no avail. They promised proofreading, editing, typesetting, and e-publishing, but do not provide any of that. I have wasted 9 months with this company, sending them my manuscript, waiting for refinement and proper editing. The only thing I received was an AI-created book cover. They also promise a team to assist you with the experience. Every Project Manager assigned to me ghosted me. (I went through 3). Do not waste your time or money. Unfortunately, I will have to take legal action to recover my money. Someone needs to expose this company for what it truly is: a SCAM. I called the number on their website and was told I would be sent to the compliance department. Then, they hung up. How they continue to get away with this is beyond me. As a new author the experience is crippling and has taken the steam right out of my creativity.

This company is a BIG SCAM. They will fraud you out of a lot of money!! They also sent me a fraudulent letter from Barnes & Noble to place my book on their shelves, at a cost of $22,000!!! I took the letter to Barnes & Noble because it just didn't feel right and they informed me that there is NO COST to place my book on their shelves. You only need to list your book on the Barnes & Noble website and it can automatically be put on the shelves (for FREE), with a simple phone call to the bookstore!!! These people are frauds and they had AI do my artwork. The editing was horrible!!! They are not the professionals they claim to be. I paid them $2,500.00 to REPUBLISH my book and the only thing I loved was the artwork for the book cover that was done with an AI program. Everything else was a nightmare!! I could not find any license for this company in the state of California, where they claim to be based. The address on the website is a fraud. I confronted them with all of this and had to threaten them with a lawsuit to get my FULL REFUND!!! DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!! It's really sad how they will lie repeatedly, even after being found out!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!
Go to IngramSpark.com and publish your own book. It's the exact company they are using to do the publishing and it's FREE to open an account!!!!
All you need is an ISBN number to publish your book!!! Get it from the Federal site 10 ISBNs for $299.00. This company was trying to sell me 3 ISBNs for $1,200.00!!!!!!! Just do it yourself!!!!!!!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!!!

Today is the final day of my one year contract to market Grandpa Gary's Teen Playbook. Self Publishers Inc cleverly induced me to pay them $55,000. They said and provided me false letterhead documents from Barnes & Noble and Walmart with solid commitments from both firms to sell my books. They also induced me to pay them for a website and portal. After paying them over a six digit number prior to November of last year, I have received a grand total of $500. Now, they will not even communicate with me and have done nothing since last November. I have reported this as criminal fraud to various agencies. If you are working with them, stop. If you are thinking of working with them, do not.
