I have used Sheffords Charterd Surveyors for a Level 2 home survey and Ms Louisa was my Surveyor. Their service was highly professional and exceptional from the initial communication through the post-report assistance. The report meticulously covered each and every element I must know in detail prior to make a serious decision such as buying a home.

We have used Sheffords for two house surveys recently. On both occasions we have received excellent service. The surveys have been carried out promptly and the very detailed reports delivered within the quoted timescales. Having not moved for nearly thirty years and being new to the area, so having no knowledge of which Surveyors to use, we are very pleased to have selected Sheffords. When we had follow up queries as a result of one of the surveys, Sheffords were efficient, exceedingly helpful and gave very valued support and advice.

Ed and his team provided invaluable advice during our home purchase process. He helped us avoid falling foul of buying a property which would have required very extensive remediation work but that on the surface looked fine. We then went on to purchase a much, much better property - again with his support. We couldn’t recommend him more highly- it was the best money we spent throughout the home buying process.

I was extremely happy with my experience of Sheffords. Louisa was excellent; very friendly and approachable yet professional and her report was extremely thorough and clear. She was very happy to take the time to explain aspects in more detail and look into specific things I asked about. I will definitely use them again and would highly recommend them.

We were very happy with the service provided by Sheffords. They undertook a detailed inspection of the house we are purchasing and their report was very thorough, balanced and insightful. They took the time to understand our future plans for the house and built in recommendations relating to this, making the report very tailored and insightful. They were not the cheapest quote but certainly not the most expensive and the quality of work and local knowledge was definitely value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Ed has been an absolute pleasure to work with- we were concerned about some structural issues that arose during the sale of our home and Ed came to us quickly, carried out a detailed survey on areas effected and talked us through what the problems were in a way we could understand, set out potential remedial measures and indicative costs and was charming throughout. Ed left us feeling really reassured that all would be OK and helped us find a strategy to get things on track. A great firm and great people.

I recently had a level 2 home survey carried about by Ed. The whole process was made very easy from the efficiency, professionalism and friendliness of Ed and the Sheffords team. I managed to re-negotiate the original price to include urgent repair works that were highlighted in the report that I hadn’t noticed on original inspection. The survey has more than paid for itself in this respect.
Ed was also very good at providing options for the correct survey to select.

Myself & partner had a RICS Level 2 Survey completed by Sheffords. We found them highly professional with exceptional attention to detail. We would highly recommend them to anyone who requires a survey and other services. The comprehensive survey has contributed to us re negotiating the house we are purchasing. The experience was made stress-free with Sheffords arranging all times, dates and keys with the estate agents we are purchasing through. When hearing that our purchaser had instructed Sheffords we were concerned we would be unable to appoint them for our purchase. We were wrong with Ed able to survey our purchase and Jeremy undertaking the survey for our buyer. Both surveys were undertaken in a timely manner, very thorough and our survey report was well written with clear guidance on identified issues. A very professional firm that we would not hesitate in recommending.

What an unfortunate experience being involved with Sheffords. I was surprised to find they have good reviews. As a property management service they made my time living in the property hell. They left me in a property with no working hot water and heating over the winter months and kept sending a gas and heating engineer who couldn't find or fix the problem, after 4 visits my partner had to have a look himself and tell them what the issue was. Ed had actually accused me of not knowing how to work the system and also have a personal issue with his engineer. The same engineer who said Ed was difficult to work for and was extremely rude to him. I wouldn't receive a reply for 10 days and when coming of the phone with Ed I would be in tears. Thankfully I got out of my contract early (with £1000 Fees) this is how desperate I was. The gas metre in the house was completely broken and whenever I mentioned this Sheffords ignored me. The house was not up to a liveable standard and the broken heating system makes it dangerous. Lastly they stole my entire deposit, making up faults with the property and accusing me of even stealing the grill pan and accusing my cleaner of not cleaning the carpets. I wouldn't recommend Sheffords and I would advise anyone to stay away from Ed.

Ed performed a survey as part of the property acquisition process for a house in Tunbridge Wells. The survey was highly detailed yet clearly laid out and demonstrated extensive expertise and a specific understanding of local properties.
Ahead of and following the survey Ed was very responsive to calls and took time to explain specific details when required.

We instructed Sheffords to survey our prospective new house and would thoroughly recommend them - and have done so to our friends! They clearly expended a great deal of effort inspecting the whole property in great detail and produced a comprehensive but understandable report, including many high definition photos, giving us the confidence we needed to proceed with our purchase.
