Little support for a complex case.
I have a very complex case.
With adopted children. ex wife with not diagnosed mental health issues rising serious allegations - systematically dismissed by the Social Workers, Court and Police. The stressful situation affected negatively the children, missing school, going under therapy and going under "child protection".
SM did not provide timely support to various breaches of court order, custody, travel and more.
My case was systematically handed over between multiple solicitors within the firm - breaking continuity, impossible to put a strategy together, gaps in the understanding of the case, missed action because of slow response, including the selection of the barrister for the final hearing whereby I ended up contacting the chamber directly to learn we didn't book them and we lost their availability.
The only call back I received from SM aimed to ensuring enough funding in the account. I never received a call advising on next action.
Their letter of advise are paid extra and did not contain any new information or in depth than what I suggested in the call I prompted.
The support I received is far off the fees I paid.
I thought I could give the case in their hand, and let them lead the process and advice on next action. This was not the case.
I had to keep things in my hand and rely on other consultants to understand the situation and devise own opinion on what to do next.
We are close to the final hearing. I hope they prove me wrong in this final step.

I cannot recommend Kylie and everyone at Simpson Millar highly enough. I went through one of the darkest and most difficult times of my life while trying to fight for my son and his education, and I reached a point where I felt I had no option but to take legal action.

Serious Concerns Over Delays and Potential Prejudice to Judicial Review Case
I first contacted Simpson Millar in February 2026 in relation to a judicial review. After a significant delay, I was eventually contacted in May 2026 and, as requested, I provided all of the relevant paperwork, evidence and reports required in order for my case to be assessed and progressed. Since providing those documents, however, there appears to have been no meaningful progress whatsoever. I have also followed your complaints procedure in an attempt to obtain an explanation and have still received no substantive response. This is particularly concerning because Judicial Review proceedings are subject to strict and potentially very short time limits. I am now seriously concerned that the delay in dealing with my case may have resulted in a relevant deadline being missed, or may otherwise have prejudiced my ability to pursue the proposed Judicial Review.
