My experience with Sixt Dublin was extremely disappointing and stressful. I strongly advise against renting from them.

1) Driving licence requirement not clearly stated
At the counter, I was told that a minimum of 4 years of driving licence was required. This was not clearly visible during the booking process. The employee said it was “written in small print”, which is unacceptable.
This caused a serious risk of not being able to pick up the car at all, and we were forced to make a new reservation under another person’s name at the counter.

2) Undisclosed €40 In-Terminal Drop Off fee
We originally planned to return the car early in the morning, but due to a change of plans we decided to return it the evening before.
We went to the desk to ask how to return the car earlier and were told we could leave it in the garage near the terminal instead of the more distant one where we picked it up.
At no point were we informed that this would result in an extra €40 charge. This fee only appeared later, which I consider misleading.

3) €100 deposit never refunded
At pickup, €100 were taken from my account as a deposit, with the clear statement that they would be refunded at the end of the rental (minus tolls for the M50 motorway).
However:

The M50 tolls were charged separately

The €100 were never refunded

Customer service told me:

“You will not see a refund of 100 EUR because it was never debited.”

This is false, as my bank has confirmed that no refund was ever processed.
To this day, I am still missing my money.

Overall, this rental involved hidden conditions, poor transparency, unexpected charges and unresolved billing issues.
The risk of not getting the car and the inability to recover the deposit make this experience completely unacceptable.

I will never rent from Sixt Dublin again.

Booked a car rental with Sixt through Booking.com and given a total price, when i arrived in Dublin to collect the car the insurance was insufficient and I had to pay a further £70 for two days insurance rip off will never use Sixt again.

Staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The van we rented was in very good condition and served our purpose perfectly. Exceptional service all around.

Outstanding service! After my 9.5 hour flight I was delighted to find no wait at the SIXT counter at Dublin airport, and friendly and helpful staff who were genuinely concerned that my car would be suitable for me, my passengers and luggage. I really appreciated the prompt service and a great car too! Thank you SIXT Dublin Airport.

While online booking they accepted my credit card and already charged it, and on the day of taking the car they told me my credit card is not accepted. So I didn't get the car, but the money is gone. This is a scam!!!

I have been using Sixt for over 10 years now. I have never been disappointed by their services. My recent experience was simply amazing. The customer service lady was so knowledgable and friendly. She processed my rentals so quickly and gave me a free upgrade car. The can was perfect. On return, the gentleman was very kind and friendly. Checked me out with a smile and hope to see me again. All together, this company is doing really great. Well done all.

I was very pleased with my car rental experience at DUB airport recently. I booked a cheap runaround for a week long family visit and was assigned a new Polo - very clean and in excellent condition. The staff at the counter advised (but do not pressure) on increasing my insurance coverage and were courteous and professional. The return was simple, efficient and hassle-free. Highly recommend!

On my arrival into Cork airport I went straight to the Sixt Car Hire desk.
I was greeted with a lovely welcome, went through my booking in detail and nothing was left to chance.
Before I left the desk I got the impression my booking was very much appreciated.
My car was excellent and new (2025)
My total experience was excellent and the next time I'm in Ireland I shall without doubt be using Sixt Car Hire & I can strongly recommend this company for trouble free car hire.

I hired a car for 3 days from SIXT in Cork airport. Great friendly service, clear instructions, drop off easy to find and courteous staff both on pick up and drop off. If you return the car as you find it, (fill it up before you drop it off) there isn't an issue. Good price although it wasn't peak season. Recommend this company. To SIXT don't change a thing.

Do not rent from sixt. I was given a damaged car and then charged for “cleaning” despite returning the car in the same condition as it was delivered. The drop off process is a joke with no one even checking the car so they can then spring bs charges on you later. They were inflexible during entire appeal process. I will never rent from sixt again.

I would not use SIXT if they were the last company on earth. I paid for a luxury van but what I got was a van falling apart with damage on every panel, trim falling off, and non working electronics. When I picked up the van the tank was half full. I filled it up and make several calls but no one would get back to me. It has taken me 3 months and an escalation to HQ in Germany to get a partial petrol/gas refund even though they admitted they knew about it. No refund for the van. Absolute shambles of a company

Travelled from NZ - 33 hour journey - arrived tired and disoriented and was fortunate to meet Alex at SIXT Car Hire who was polite and patient assisted me the rental and insurance process - his manner was so professional- made the process so easy and understandable thank you Alex

This is the best car rental experience ever. The super friendly staff, the professionalism and the willingness to help you and give you the best car rental. Especially Lina was so lovely. What a great team. I will be back. Ps. And the car was also very good. The whole picking up and dropping off. All very easy.
