A Morning of Music, Curiosity & Local Discoveries
Such a great experience with Sofar Sounds! The unique café in Miami, amazing local artists, delicious food and coffee all made for a really special morning.
Everything was incredibly well organized, running smoothly and on time, with a great atmosphere from beginning to end.
The theme was *curiosity*, and I definitely left feeling more curious — about how these events come together and, especially, about how many talented local artists and amazing places we have right here in our communities that we might never discover otherwise.
A fantastic way to enjoy music, discover something new and connect with the local community. I’d definitely go again!

Could have made better arrangements for coffee and snacks. Also, the performances were too short with big breaks breaking flow of the show. Show started too late.

A Memorable Experience
The venue was stunning: a hotel balcony nestled in a cozy pocket of the Downtown skyline. I did a double take when I saw Elliott Bay, reflecting the colors of the sunset. The performances pulled couples from nearby highrises to listen from their balconies. I cuddled with my date on a blanket, the performers singing only a few feet from us. It was a memorable night.
That said, the emcee did miss the mark when introducing the final artist, making a comment that he had “cool” clothes and hair but not mentioning anything about the artist’s music, which is not the kind of remark or introduction he made about any of the other artists. It did not escape me or my date that this was the only Black artist performing that night, and caused us to exchange a “seriously?” glance in that moment and have a “so you noticed that, right?” conversation on the ride home.
I have faith that both Sofar and the emcee did not intend harm, but it would be cool if they didn’t micro-agress their artists right before they perform.

Keep doing singles events with live music
Wonderful idea that of mixing a live band with karaoke afterwards. Specially for a singles event I feel it helps everybody loosen up a bit and interact more with others. Not the best experience but not too bad
The music was ok except for one artist who was super talented. The venue seemed overbooked and people kept bumping into me and poking me. The bar was cash-only which could’ve been mentioned beforehand. Also the bathroom situation was super weird.

Odd and overpriced for what it was
I do not feel what was advertised and what I expected is what I got. I had never been to one of these events and It was advertised as brunch with live music.
It doesn’t feel right to advertise something as a brunch event and then offer paying guests the choice of one pasta or pizza. There were no drinks, no coffee, no juice, not one brunch item. For $60 this was not worthwhile. One hour of music (which came awkwardly after the non brunch was served) where we couldn’t talk and had to swivel in our chairs to watch while being baked in a greenhouse with no fans was not enjoyable. It was unbelievably hot. We asked the waitress to explain the menu and she said “you pick one item”. Yes we can read. We were asking about the food choices since we were at a nice restaurant for a meal. I ordered a soda for $4, received less than a cans worth and then was told I’d need to pay another $4 for more. So it was $120 for the bare bones meal and hour of music for two people +$30 for one cocktail and a soda.
It felt poorly organized and curated. I understand after looking through your website that this is intended to focus on the experience of music in a “secret” setting but the MC didn’t give much context to set the scene or explaining the story behind this series of events, and the atmosphere didn’t fit all the musical choices or way they were presented.
We felt mislead and a bit ripped off. Didn’t help that everyone on the main floor of the restaurant was actually eating brunch, and probably got a lot more for $60 of their money.
While I can appreciate all the artists, the last two acts fit the atmosphere of the event the most and it would have been nice if they were playing during brunch and we were served a meal that fell into that category with a beverage or appetizer. That would have been an enjoyable experience worth the price paid.
IF they had wanted to keep the event as is, I would write “a pasta or pizza lunch followed by 3 short musical acts” and I would charge $30 or $35 at most.

The backyard experience on September 5th
The Sofar backyard experience on September 5th in Orange was perfect! Such a nice ambiance and warm and welcoming hosts made for a beautiful night! Good food and good people! Land of Bees was a great band to watch, really enjoyed them a lot! Would love to see them again! 5 stars for sure!!!!

Singles Night Review
I attended the event marketed towards singles. The event in theory would have been great except for two big issues.
90% of the people who bought tickets were women, and the music we paid to listen to, started late.
Once it became clear there weren't many men in attendance, I would have been keen to at least stay for the music I paid for, but the musics started 40 mins later than advertised, and after 15 mins of playing, took another big break. It was at this point my friend and I left.
Great location, great idea, poor execution, especially for the price of the ticket.
