Made good progress so far. Easy process. Support available if needed.

So far I'm just over half way through my treatment and seeing excellent progress. The main challenge has been getting used to wearing the aligners for 22 hours per day however with a bit of extra planning it's working well.

I opted for a 3D scan instead of taking impressions although I'm not sure if the scan option is still available.

The aligners arrived in 2 installments with the second being sent after a progress review in case any changes were required presumably.

Regarding price Straight Teeth Direct are pretty competitive and the option to pay in installments is very useful too.

Looking forward to completing the treatment in 3 months time!

As many have commented, I think this service is good if you have slight adjustments to be made, I was poorly advised during my treatment which meant I stopped treatment around 95% complete. My teeth still looked straight, so I wasn’t too upset at this stage, however one of my teeth was loose, I was advised to wear the final aligned for longer. I wore it for 6 months constantly, but my tooth was still moving. When I moved to the retainers over night, every morning my teeth were straight, but by the evening my tooth had moved backwards. When I contacted the team I was initially told I may have an infection, which of course there was no possible way they could say this as they hadn’t seen my teeth, I went to my own dentist were happy my teeth were healthy, although understandably a little disappointed I’d chosen online dentistry.
Ultimately Straight Teeth Direct haven’t been able to complete my treatment effectively. I have now stopped using my retainer as it was becoming painful to use my retainer every night, pushing my tooth back into place. My teeth have now completely moved in a month, it’s caused TMJ in my jaw which in turn is causing earache, which is incredibly painful and oppressive. They have quoted me £65 to get a new set of casts done and if I choose to receive more treatment £99 for each set of aligners, which is just so disappointing.
As I said earlier if you have an easy fix, it’s fine, but if anything doesn’t go to plan, they can’t treat it or react properly as there is no actual face to face contact.
I’m really gutted.

Really disappointed STD didn’t finish what they started. When they wanted the job I can tell you that they promised you moon & stars, but when the job hit a stumbling block they put a blame on you and asked for more money.

This company isn’t honest, trust me along the way they going to ask you for more money! STD didn’t completely straighten my central teeth according to their planned target. It was a main treatment plus a free refinement phase of 15 months total, but only reached to 70% of target (based on my own observation, not STD).

It went into 2nd refinement phase of another 4 months, yet the result perhaps reached to 85% of straightening target. I don’t mind to carry on, but now STD wanted me to pay for additional aligners, despite I said it was their faults for not meeting the target.

It was STD that failed doing accurate aligner modelling to meet the target prediction. They kept blaming on slow biological response, despite having 15 months of my teeth progress data; so they knew whatever it was, yet the aligners design still failed! Biological response was an easy excuse to wash their hand!

I don’t understand why should I pay STD of their failure, they should absorb all the cost to deliver their promise or perhaps I should get compensation instead! It was really non-sense customer service because they always blaming customer for their own failure to meet straightening target, never they look at themselves to understand what could go wrong with their aligners design.

They claimed the product is cheaper than normal dental clinic, but the fact is they going to keep asking for more money. Who knows, who knows the aligners design can be purposely manipulated for the aligners not to meet straightening target, so they can keep asking for more money! Really not honest

Brilliant service from the start. I have a very hectic work schedule and this has worked amazingly around that, being able to have all of my questions answered over the app at any time, and all reviews done remotely has made this an unbelievably smooth and enjoyable process.

Great communication throughout, I cannot fault the customer service. The simulation about my end result was pretty realistic and I am happy with the end result. Would recommend this company.

After finishing my treatment, the results were so good that the company asked to use my picture as part of their marketing campaign. I declined. Beneath the ‘Before’ and ‘After’, I have permanent bone loss in my front teeth and I have to push them back in with my fingers. What is under the surface is more important than what something looks like.

If you are considering using this company, please don’t. I have no invested interested in telling you this, I am simply someone who has experienced negligence with this company, an unethical behemoth dominating the media with shiny results. I would recommend consulting a dentist that you trust and having them explain the complexity of orthodontics to you. Please care for your adult teeth as they are the only ones that you get in this life.

Summary of my case: I have been a customer of Straight Teeth Direct for years, and have screenshots and PDFs as evidence in the case of dispute. My first SmileBox was shipped 11.03.2021, when I was 22, and my treatment officially finished 09.02.2022. I then followed the maintenance retainer plan. I have permanent bone loss as a result of the company’s unsafe practice, which has resulted in developing permanently wobbly front teeth, despite being young and having a history of strong and healthy teeth up to the point of treatment. I consulted with lawyers who said I had a strong case, however they have been unable to contact the company.

The issue: Since finishing treatment, my front teeth are wobbly and very weak. I cannot eat certain foods and it leads to discomfort as I have to manually push my teeth back into my gums with my fingers. I believed that this would stabilise with the maintenance plan, however this wasn’t the case. At the beginning of this year, I was incredibly concerned as the issue had not resolved. I visited a dentist in-person on 30.01.24 for a full check-up and X-rays. I showed her the pictures of my teeth before and after treatment with Straight Teeth Direct, and explained my dental health before and after treatment. The X-rays clearly displayed permanent bone loss and ligament damage. My moveable front teeth can clearly be felt. I have permanent, lifelong effects from the negligent and unsafe treatment. This involves further cost for dental work, although the bone loss cannot be cured or reversed.

Expert opinion: The dentist said that healthy procedures were not followed. She read through the documentation, photo evidence and contract and gave me a through, competent explanation about the mistakes made from a dental and orthodontic perspective. It is a common misconception that UK dentists are against teledentistry because the competitive pricing puts them out of business. However, the truth is that dentistry is a very complex practice; UK dentists study for five years followed by two years of supervision. Safe, expert treatment is not comparable to an at-home aligner plan with an elusive international dentist via an app.

Why I chose the company: If you Google the company, the reviews are glowing. ‘Clear braces at a fraction of the cost’ ‘Created by dentists, powered by technology’ ‘Our promise’. There is a review in The Independent, lending the company media credibility, when it is really one long and expensive advertisement. I was drawn to the company after their posts kept appearing on my social media feeds.

Why I left this review: Since becoming aware of the severe failures in my treatment, I have contacted the company multiple times with no response. My lawyers have contacted the company multiple times with no response; they said: "the company has not responded to any of the correspondence we have sent by email or post." As a result of the company’s seemingly ‘uncontactable’ nature, I am leaving a public review.

Why are there so many positive reviews of Straight Teeth Direct?:

(1) Some people will not experience any adverse effects to the treatment.
(2) Many people will have underlying adverse effects that they are not aware of, as they can only be seen on scans, and they have not had professional examinations years down the line to see the consequences.
(3) People who have had negative experiences are not platformed. (Something to consider: even excellently reviewed products on Amazon Marketplace with fewer overall sales than Straight Teeth Direct have more negative reviews than Straight Teeth Direct.)

Im about to complete my treatment in a months time and I cannot believe how my smile has changed in only a few months. You see the results fast, even in your first month. Go for it! It works, the price is accessible and the results are awesome!

I am so happy I started my teeth straightening journey with Straight Teeth Direct. From the very first contact they were professional and thorough in explaining the process. I had my initial scan at Harley Street and shortly after that received my first few sets of aligners. There were clear instructions on how to use them correctly and any time I have a query, they respond within 24 hours. Whenever I forget to send through my monthly progress photos, they send me a message to remind me. I was a bit sceptical in the beginning that they might just take my money, send the aligners and that there would be no follow up care or customer service after but that couldn't be further from the truth. I am 60% through with my journey and can see such a difference already! If you are on the fence about trying them out, don't be. As long as you follow the instructions properly, you will see your results.

I took a long time and after a year spent researching aligner companies and chose STD. I am only 12 weeks in, but so far I have been more than pleased with both the support/service and the change in my teeth and smile! Am so happy I took the plunge and thank STD for doing what they said they would. I have 100% confidence in them and cant wait to see the final result.

My experience with straight teeth direct has been great so far, I am 60% through my teeth straightening journey and can honestly say it’s been so easy, the initial impressions and photos were super easy to navigate and the monthly checks ins are so simple. I have experienced no issues with any of the aligners and the support I’ve had throughout has been excellent. I cant wait to see my final smile, people are actively noticing my straighter teeth and my confidence has never been so high!

Was recommended by a friend. I've only just started my plan, but I'm already seeing results and am so pleased with how everything is going so far. My front tooth had been getting progressively more wonky over the years and it was becoming the first thing I'd notice in photographs. I'm only 6 weeks in, but the difference already is amazing. The value for money for the service is great too. I'm really pleased :)

Was going to write a big message stating how useless this company is but thought they have wasted enough of my time and efforts. Wasted my money too. Avoid avoid avoid. Product is absolute rubbish unless you already have near straight teeth. Raging I spent my hard earned money on this ****

Wanted a refund but didnt get anywhere with that. Waste of money. Will reply to me stating all sorts of rubbish but ignore that, dont go here! Absolute scam!!!

I’m 70% through my journey and I’m delighted with the service received. The communication is all via the app and response times are quick. I’ve been changing my retainers every 2 weeks and am making consistent progress. The deliveries are prompt and I received many retainers months in advance, so no need to worry about when they will come. I’m really excited to complete my treatment and truly recommend this company.

I feel like moat people are probably a bit apprehensive about doing aligners through an online service without actually seeing a human let alone an actual dentist, but this company worked quite well. Concerns about the moulding stage were put to rest when it was said that another set could be sent if required but thankfully the instructions were clear enough that I felt confident completing this. I only needed 12 sets and am currently on my last set, I can definitely see the difference and was surprised to actually receive compliments on my teeth in the last two weeks which I'm not sure if is totally due to the aligners and the whitening that they offer you (at additional cost) or if I've just been around more friendly people recently. It's very reassuring knowing that any questions you can ask and a real dentist will reply to you. I have been my dentist since starting my journey and other than being disappointed that I didn't go through him (expensive Invisalign) he said that my teeth and gums are still looking happy and healthy and that they are straightening well. I would definitely recommend this service but would advise to wait for a special offer as it is quite expensive.

Like:
- Straight forward product offering,
- Available to opt for free 3D scan within London, instead of mould
- Competitive pricing

Dislike:
- There's only 1 channel of communication, and it is through it's application. Reply can be slow and majority of my responses are pretty obvious copy and paste job. There are also times where comments/feedbacks are simply not taken seriously in my opinion.
- App UI is rather simple and straightforward, but the UX can be improved.

Major dislike
Almost at the end of my treatment, at the last set of aligners, it was then notified to me (via app chat) that my lower arch is responding slower than expected. Made another 3D scan trip, which was then used for the additional refinement aligners.
Additional refinement bottom aligners didn't fit as well as the top aligners, as there were visible gaps. Feedback given back to STD, but was just instructed to proceed as instruction for the next 3 sets of refinement aligners. Keeping in mind that I'm wearing retainer on top and refinement aligners on the bottom.
When the top aligners were done, the top retainer just fits onto the straight top arch like a glove, no gaps no additional movements and the retainer just works like a retainer - RETAIN the current structure.
So, when the bottom refinements aligners were done, I had some concerns because (1) the bottom arch front 4 teeth weren't straight. In my opinion it is not the same as the final forecast smile outcome. (2) when I tried to pop in the bottom retainer, it just doesn't pop in as smooth/easy as the top. I have to bend my retainers in order to put them on and when it's on there's obvious straightening force being applied to my bottom arch from the retainers. Even after raising my concerns, sending pictures of the arch and video showing the difference in effort required to pop in the bottom retainer VS top retainer, the instruction is to use my RETAINER to align the bottom arch.

while as within the package a free set of retainers were provided, but the retainers should be used as post-treatment instead of being used as part of the treatment.
Also, after raising my concerns about the bottom arch not ready for the retainer and photos and videos showing the difficulty to put on bottom retainer, i was told to wear them. So, 1 week into wearing bottom retainer, it cracked. It cracked at the area which I felt the most teeth movement. I'm a customer, not a dentist nor an expert, but I feel that because of the additional stress due to retainers not fitting well resulted in the crack.

I've paid extra to enroll onto the maintainer plan, £150/year for 2 more sets of retainers. now i'm really reluctant to use the paid retainers for something which STD is unwilling to do more.

I might be biased, but I feel that they are (at the end of my treatment / nearing end of my treatment) are simply brushing aside feedbacks/concerns and attempting to make more money by maybe asking me to buy more RETAINERS to do the aligner treatment.

I had train track braces as a teenager including 4 teeth out. Over my twenties my teeth started to move with a my two top teeth crossing over. I became self conscious about my smile...

I was slightly nervous about going with a company where I wouldn't see a dentist in person but honestly I needn't have worried.

The service I received and the results achieved through straight teeth direct have been amazing. After just under a year my teeth are almost perfect now and seem to keep in place as long as I continue to wear my Retainers roughly 5 nights a week.

The app is really easy to use and customer service really good. I'm now on the yearly maintainer plan.

It's cost effective and they are transparent about their service. I've already recommended them to a friend who is now half way through her treatment.
