Lesen, schreiben, zuhören und was besonders gefällt, bei jede Unterrichtsstunde wird viel gesprochen.
Toll finde ich, dass mein ganzer Lernstoff
auf der Webseite ist. Somit kann ich es von überall zugreifen.
So macht lernen Spass.

I have been living in China for almost 2 years in an isolated area so my motivation to learn Chinese has been very low, I needed a scheduled class to help motivate me. Now after a few weeks I notice that I'm understanding some of the things my students say, which is great. The teachers and support staff are very kind and I think the learning platform works well for letting you see the characters and pinyin while you discuss them through video. I hope once I move to a larger city I'll be able to attend some in person classes too.

I’ve been taking 1:1 online classes with That’s Mandarin Beijing for almost 2 years now and I highly recommend them if you’re looking to learn Mandarin Chinese! I started learning Chinese with TM from absolute zero. Now, two years later, I can have comfortable 1-hour long conversations completely in Chinese about a wide range of topics! I of course still have a long ways to go, but 2 years to get from zero to a solid intermediate level through part-time study (average of 2 classes/week) is not bad at all!

One of the things I like most about TM’s teaching method, is that the teacher teaches in Chinese right from the get-go. Even when I knew almost nothing, my teacher still tried to explain slowly and carefully to help me understand. Taking English out of the learning process has rapidly sped up my learning progress. The learning content is also very well paced. Each lesson has a vocabulary list of 5-10 new words, 1-2 grammar points, and a matching 1-2 minute video that uses the new words and grammar in context. You can get reading, listening and speaking shadowing practice all-in-one. All of the course content is online. Side Note: The video transcripts have real people voicing them, not AI-voices, so it is very clear and natural sounding which I appreciate!

I’ve found that most value I’ve gotten from TM’s curriculum is in the expanded conversation I have with my teacher on that day’s topic. Often times we go through the vocabulary and grammar fairly quickly, which leaves a lot of time for spontaneous conversation. I talk A LOT in my classes. I find this free conversation time very valuable because I can practice reproducing the new content in different ways, and it mimics real-life interactions very well.

The two teachers I’ve had so far have been absolutely amazing. My current teacher, 孟晨, is so patient, enthusiastic and really fun to talk to. I’ve made many mistakes in my classes, and even after correcting me on the same grammar point for maybe the 50th time, Teacher Meng is never impatient. I also really enjoy our conversations and the way she lets our classes flow naturally. Teacher Meng gives me ample time to think and form sentences on my own, never interrupts or rushes me, and always makes sure to note down corrections. Every lesson is so interesting, and ends with dozens of new vocabulary words and sentence examples to review later. My classes with Teacher Meng are one of the things I look forward to most in the week!

Aside from the great teachers, That’s Mandarin also has great admin staff who are super kind, very accommodating, and answer promptly whenever I have scheduling changes to make. Shout out to Kitty, she’s the best!

I’ve had a great experience with That’s Mandarin and progressed so much with their help!

Going for onsite 1:1 sessions with That's Mandarin (Beijing) has been my best investment in a long time and I have regained hope to become fluent in Chinese some day. Just as I was about to give up on learning Chinese, I got a free onsite 1:1 session at That's Mandarin (Beijing). That was the gamechanger I needed and I've now done 20 lectures (~15 hours) and completed half of the new HSK level 1 much faster than anticipated and I will continue for additional 64 (~ 48 hours) classes before I expect to leave China.

Onsite 1:1 at That's Mandarin is much better than my previous experience:
1. My teacher simultaneously writes down the important sentences/words/grammar on the computer while we talk, so I can review it afterwards on the online platform (Nihao Cafe). This really helps me to practice and remember the words and this is much more efficient for me than just talking.
2. That's Mandarin has a great online platform (Nihao Cafe) that provides the following for each lecture: realistic videos, list of words + grammar and simple but efficient exercises that reinforces the learning. Both Hanzi, Pinyin and English is available. There is absolutely no need for outdated books and boring audio CD's! The website also works very good on mobile phone as a progressive webapp, so there is no need for some annoying native app that constantly need updates.
3. The pace of the 1:1 sessions is totally tailored to my learning, so I never fall behind or get bored like I used to do in previous classroom sessions. The tailored learning has been very efficient for recapping my fragmented knowledge of HSK level-1.
4. The 1:1 sessions are not just about going through curriculum, I get a lot of practice in making conversations based on my interests. I get to talk about my home country, my hobbies, my family, what I've been doing since last session and what I'm planning to do for e.g. vacations. The teacher is very good at helping me to talk beyond the curriculum and learn to express myself. This gives me both confidence and practice, which really helps an introvert like me when I dare to try to talk with local Chinese people.
5. My teacher is always really excited to teach and her encouragement really helps me to overcome the struggle of learning a language that differs so much from my native language.
6. I also quite like the events hosted by That's Mandarin, where I can meet fellow students and learn additional useful skills for China such as playing Mahjong.

My background story: I've tried (and failed) to learn Chinese abroad multiple times (Confucius Institute and other language school), but the lack of immersion abroad and one-size-fits-all classroom lectures (either your are bored or you are falling behind) killed my motivation again and again and I was left with fragmented knowledge in HSK-level 1. I ended up hating to study Chinese and I dreaded every time I had to listen to the super boring audio-CD that accomponied the very outdated propaganda books. So I went to China and expected that the immersion and some super cheap 1:1 sessions (other private teacher) would be a gamechanger, but I soon realised that I am not that good at learning by just talking and my progress was very slow even though I was living in China.

I’m taking online classes with 王小丹 and it suits me just fine. The website is easy to use and quite convinient as well as the content is useful and designed for daily life in the country wich can help a lot there. After only few classes I have more confidence to talk with locals and get what I want.

I take Mandarin classes at That’s Mandarin since August 2022 and love this school. The attidtude of the entire staff and the atmosphere of the building is very friendly and open and the teaching methods are very efficient including the e learning system and the composition of the topics of the chapters. M. Laoshi has been my teacher for the most time and learning Chinese with her is always fun, interesting and easy. She does a fantastic job in making the classes intersting and explaining new grammar topics and content in the best way. Friday is class time for me, my favourite day of the week. I recommend That’s mandarin to everybody who wants to learn Chinese in a modern practical and fun way.

I have studied Chinese for 4 years and have been with a few different Chinese learning companies and That’s Mandarin platform Nihaocafe was one of the worst video platforms I have used. Often freezing and poorly designed in my opinion. The content that we learnt was very uninteresting and not engaging at all in my opinion. The support and communication was very good with the wechat groups. The people were nice. Their teaching methods didn’t really work with me and I preferred other companies such as Omeida Chinese Academy and GoEast.

I have been using That’s Mandarin for over two years to learn Chinese and it’s been great. The teachers are always nice and knowledgeable, as well as a great resource to learn. The website has helped me review the material and has a lot of helpful information. My current teacher, Meng Cheng, is great and explains the context in a very understandable way.

I have been studying once a week for more than a year with 娜仁老师。My progress is good because I get supported well and enjoy going to classes!

For the price, I am satisfied with my experience at That's Mandarin. The opportunity to interact face-to-face with the instructor, discussing everydaysituations, has been of great help in improving my pronunciation and gaining confidence in my learning. Furthermore, the process of reviewing concepts, both in thestudy material and on the online platform, effectively complements the in-person teaching.

I appreciate the staff's attention, the facilities, and the variety of extra activities they offer. All of this contributes to creating a pleasant learning experience.

For the price I paid, I was very satisfied with the high-quality, personal tutoring I received. I had a wonderful instructor who not only taught me, but related learning Chinese to my daily life. She was very friendly and accommodating to my learning pace. I really would recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn Chinese in a comfortable environment at your own pace!

I studied here as a face to face student in Shanghai. The course materials were custom made by the school and included videos, text books and a website. Teachers interacted with the website during class, which was an effective teaching method. Class materials were saved to the website which I could then access later to revise. Classes were much more interactive than other classes I’ve taken elsewhere, and included more revision and speaking practice compared to more traditional classes (such as at university). I looked forward to going to class every day and hope to return again some day soon. The teaching style and materials matched my learning goals more closely than other schools I’ve studied at previously. The teachers and administrators were also excellent. Thank you

I'm learning Business Chinese in here for 2 months now. I really like the curriculum, since the teacher will arrange the class based on the student's situation. Also the class system/application is really good, since you don't have to take notes and can still review the class after it. One of the benefit that I like here is how they provide a class consultant before you actually apply for classes, therefore the lessons etc will match with our needs. Plus, they have both offline and online classes~

I think this is a great place to learn Chinese. The facility is clean and the people are very friendly and understanding. They offer free coffee and tea. I really liked my teacher and I learned a lot from her. I am very happy with my choice to come learn Chinese at That's Mandarin. The area around the school has fun places to eat and drink. The school has great online resources, audio and video that was extremely helpful for my learning. I am very satisfied with my experience at this school and I believe that anyone who is serious about learning Chinese will have a great time.

I've studied Mandarin in graduate programs at well-known universities in North America and Asia for years, and I can easily say that my private course at "That's Mandarin" has been my most enjoyable learning experience by far. My teacher is a fine educator - in other words, she knows how people learn. Her style is encouraging and fun, while she continues to challenge me to take on and remember increasingly difficult material.

The online platform for lessons works well and makes for more efficient learning. The material is waiting on the lesson page when I log in and the teacher types in additional notes during the lesson, so I can easily review what I've learned, with or without pinyin and definitions.

As an advanced student in the HSK 5 range, I really enjoy the customized lessons which my teacher creates in consultation with my needs and interests.

I took lessons with That's Mandarin to improve my speaking skills and prepare for the HSK 5 exam. My main teacher was Meng Laoshi, though I also had some lessons with Li Laoshi. I am very satisfied with the help I received from my teachers at That's Mandarin towards achieving both goals. By the end of my lessons, I felt that I was able to speak much more confidently. My teachers also helped me to prepare for the HSK5 exam, which I have now passed successfully. Meng Laoshi was particularly good at explaining the differences between similar words on the HSK5 syllabus, while balancing the HSK5 preparation with speaking practice. She was also kind, positive and encouraging in every lesson. The main challenge I had with the course was finding the right lesson format, as I was told that That's Mandarin don't have pre-made lessons above HSK4. Although it took some time to find the right approach, my course coordinators were responsive and quick to share my feedback with my teachers, who always adapted to my requirements. In short, I would recommend That's Mandarin for its skilled and professional teachers, and for its flexible approach, though I would also recommend that students have a clear idea of what their objectives and preferred approach are before they begin lessons, in order to make the most of the course.

Highly recommend this school if you wish to learn Chinese in a friendly and efficient way.

The overall experience has been great, in a very short time I’ve felt much more clear and confident in expressing myself.

That's Mandarin is an amazing place to learn Chinese. During my first visit, Joseph convinced me with his attitude that was both professional and sincere. Their teachers are amazing, and their online platform has very good tools to do reviews. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn Chinese.

I have started one year course and I'm extremely happy of my choice. After many years, I can now say that since I have started classes with That's Mandarin, I'm really learning Chinese. Every week we study new topics, repeat, review and my Chinese is becoming every day more and more fluent. I'm really satisfied of the results. That school is really worth. My teacher is very kind, very patient and she's helping me to become more and more confident. I took 1-on1 lessons in Mandarin and although I had to change schedules and teachers at one point, I was always asssited through every single process. My messages were responded in less than a day and the people at That's Mandarin were very quick to do their best to help me out and ask for additional feedback.

Besides excellent customer service, I particularly enjoyed my teachers. I personally enjoy the combination of a focus on pronounication and the way in which every lesson is divided into different themes. My teachers were also very friendly and approchable and went out of their way to create a productive learning environment.

Lessons can be reviewed after class while the website also allows you to listen to the different words, provididng correct pronounciation.

So far I have taken 16 hours of Mandarin and I will certainly continue to use more That's Mandarin lessons.

10/10 would reccomend to anyone that want to learn a new language!
