That's Mandarin has a great program for those starting to learn Chinese. The price is also fair. The teachers I have had so far are very flexible and accomodating. Scheduling is very easy over Whatsapp. It is very easy to contact someone if there is there are any problems. I definitely recommend That's Mandarin.

I have been having class with That's Mandarin for just about a year now and in that time I have seen my speaking, reading and listening ability in Chinese skyrocket. I live in China and my lessons aim to improve my day-to-day life. Before I started, I went from one-word answers and basic questions in Chinese, to being able to ask and answer questions with confidence and knowledge. My teacher is amazing, she is patient and very knowledgeable and she makes the classes interesting and always brings real-world examples to help facilitate my learning. Every lesson I have had with her has been outstanding. Every time I am confused either by grammar or structures in a sentence, she explains everything clearly. I love my classes with her and look forward to them every week (and I am devastated when I have to cancel a class). I am overjoyed to have found them as I have tried many other places (and apps) and nothing kept me engaged or as active as That's Mandarin, I know I am learning because I can see my progress when I step out my front door. 100%, 10/10, Absolute yes for That's Mandarin!

I have been learning chinese wih that's mandarin for the last 6 months. First with online classes and, later, for a two weeks course in Beijing. The experience has been really good, all the teachers I've had have been friendly and willing to help me when needed. Moreover, they have always helped me book classes as well as adapt them to my working schedule. I highly recommend learning Chinese with them.

Few months ago I started studying Chinese, I was a bit scared but the patience and professionality of my teacher, Laoshi Qiu Hao , made me feel immediately comfortable on that.After few months I can say that my Chinese has improved a lot. The class structure is extremely flexible and the teacher is able to tailor and adjust the classes to my schedule (not so easy cause I'm learning with a friend and we both work), even addressing last minute necessites from our side. That's Mandarin has helped me a lot in my long journey to learn Chinese. I have been studying 1-1 private online clases for more than one year and I can say that it has been totally worth it.

It is not always easy to arrive to a new country with almost zero knowledge of the language. However, That's Mandarin has helped in many practical ways and made my life easier while living in Beijing. The school level and program is very good and well structured. I really like the fact that goes beyond the standard HSK course by teaching new words and structures of practical use in a daily basis. The situations posed in the course are always very realistic. This makes each class not only a mere academic exercise but one that you can put into practice immediately when you leave home.

That's Mandarin has strengthen all my language skills. In particular, I would like to highlight Mèng Laoshi whose guidance has been fundamental to my improvement in the language. The staff is always willing to help, make changes to classes and resolve any situation that may arise. They are all very talented and professional.

Online clases were the perfect match to me, as my job is very demanding, and would not always have the chance to attend in person language clases. The platform is very convenient and easy to use. The schedule adapts to my own needs and I can advance at my own pace. The time slots are quite flexible and had allowed to take clases while traveling for work outside and inside China. The platform can be reviewed at any time to study and practice according to your own schedule. The videos can also be reviewed and in them you will always learn new words and ways of expressing the content taught in class.

I am sure that That's Mandarin will help you achieve your goals with the Chinese language in less time than you expect.

I´m so grateful to That´s Mandarin Beijing team where I started to study Chinese this last january. Firstly I took one one to one online per week for four months, as I´m living in Spain, and then I had the opportunity to attend face to face classes during one month and half at Beijing center. The teaching team took me through this journey, so that we think I could go through HSK-2 this November, which is much more than I expected when I decided to study Chinese.
I would like to point out the flexibilty of the administrative team and Tracy to adjust the classes to my schedule, even addressing last minute necessites from my side.

I studied in That’s Mandarin Shanghai for six months, taking the intensive course. I had acquired some basic notions of Mandarin Chinese in years prior through one-on-one classes in France, but this was the first time I did an intensive course in China. The experience did not disappoint. Here are some of the key reasons why I whole-heartedly recommend this school:

1. Living in Shanghai and the school environment
The school is located in the heart of the Jing’An district, a perfectly central location from which to go out and explore the city after the classes are over. The school itself is a bright, comfortable place, with temperature-controlled, quiet classrooms and a coffee and tea area to meet other students and relax in between classes. The number of students per classroom varies, but it is never more than 7 or 8. There’s even a terrace with a city view!

2. Teachers and staff
The administrative staff and coordinators are always friendly, collaborative and ready to assist students with any issues, ranging from school queries to recommending touristic visits and helping out with general problems that can arise when living in China. They not only make you feel welcome in the school and support your learning with some casual chats in Chinese (thank you Grand, Miki, Flow, Jo!!), but provide huge support for a newcomer to the country. Meanwhile, the teachers are excellent educators. My main teacher during my time here, Yang Laoshi (thank you also to Bao and Liu laoshi) was always a lively presence who made sure I improved with every lesson and made me want to keep learning Mandarin. Despite the obvious difficulties of learning Mandarin for a foreigner, their encouragement and patience, coupled with a great deal of teaching experience, made me feel like I was making rapid-and lasting-progress.

3. Class materials/content
That’s Mandarin has a wonderful depth of material to boost the learning experience. For beginners, you will be offered eight fully illustrated high quality textbooks that facilitate personal study. At the same time, That’s Mandarin also has a series of proprietary video materials, shot professionally with high production values and actors, that will immerse and let you follow a story as you progress through the earlier levels. At the higher levels you begin to dive into Chinese culture and social understanding through skilfully prepared custom lessons. Instead of conforming to the somewhat rigid progression of the standard HSK vocabulary lists, this school’s emphasis is on mixing level-appropriate content with repetition and review, making sure that you don’t forget that word that you learned two weeks ago!

4. The Nihao Café platform
That’s Mandarin makes their platform available to students from day one. Nihao Café is the platform used in class for teaching, but it also facilitates at home review and study. You can review previous lessons, look ahead to see what you will learn in the upcoming days, or review custom flashcards and exercises (listening, reading, writing). It’s convenient and easy to use, and available on mobile and desktop versions (I mainly used it on my phone).

In conclusion...

Having researched and heard first-hand about competing schools, I feel like this is without any doubt the best mandarin Chinese learning experience that you will find in Shanghai. My Mandarin level and my confidence when speaking the language have improved considerably since I arrived, not to mention the unforgettable friendships and experiences I had along the way.

This school not only helped me to learn Mandarin Chinese, but more importantly, it also gave me the motivation to keep learning and coming back to Shanghai for years to come.

About a year ago, I started classes at That’s Mandarin, and I’m so glad I did! The tutors are fantastic and supportive, they helped me pass the HSK exam. The “Nihao Cafe” platform we use is incredibly convenient for learning new words, doing homework, and scheduling classes. I recently took private Chinese classes at ThatsMandarin and I must say it was a very positive experience. The teachers were knowledgeable patient, and tailored the lessons to specific learning style adapted to my personal environment. I saw quite a good improvement in my Chinese language skills and would highly recommend these classes to anyone looking to learn Chinese effectively.

My daughter had a great time everyday! She started with only knowing few words to a couple of phases after a week. Also the school is responsive and good at keeping the parents informed. I’m very pleased with the service and our experience!

I have used That's Mandarin for almost 1 year, and I have really enjoyed the experience. It's study materials not only include an online website and various textbooks, but also videotapes and creative tasks during class. The teachers are very experienced, passionate and adapt to your individual learning needs. With it’s structured schedule, that's Mandarin classes are a very effective way of learning Chinese in a short amount of time! I started learning Chinese at zero and it is really impressive to see how much one can improve within only 5 months. Not only regarding to listening and speaking, but also reading and writing ability, which is very important when it comes to learning such a complicated language. As complex as it might seem, the teachers somehow succeed to teach you the structure and logic behind this language in a more easy and understandable way. And once you’ve understood the “Chinese logic” everything starts to make more and more sense, which is the motivational key!
