Great trip to the Far West of Nepal in November ‘22. That was the third trip I have done with this company this year. I have found them far better than other companies trekking in Nepal: personal interest of the owner/director, good western trek-leaders, and excellent Nepali support staff - porters, cooks, guides etc - whom they treat well. Will definitely aim to use them again soon.

Thanks to The Mountain Company for all the expertise, insights and advice that made a trek to Everest Base Camp an unforgettable, amazing, successful experience! Their attention to detail, well-planned itinerary, safety protocols, lodging, meals, selection of a superb guide, etc. made for a superb first visit to Nepal and introduction to trekking.

I have been trekking in the Himalayan region since 2001 and since 2008 have been on 9 treks run by this company. The treks are thoroughly researched and recce'd and the pre trek support and service on all their trips is exceptional. The trekking leaders are highly qualified and experienced. The guides and crew are knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. And Roland Hunter (who runs the company) looks after them - in the aftermath of the terrible 2015 earthquake in Langtang and during COVID the company has continued to support and care for its Nepali crew with a hardship fund on the gofundme web site.

The combination of Roland's dilligence, talent with logistics and deep understanding of the Himalayan region make all the treks his company runs a thoroughly enjoyable experience. This is augmented by the personal touch that Roland brings to all the treks - Mountain Company is a small enterprise, but in the many years that Roland has spent in the Himalayan area he has got to know all the best people. This is reflected in all the treks he runs.

As first time 'trekkers', and at relatively short notice (about a month), we asked Roland Hunter of The Mountain Company, if he could organise a trip for us in November 2018. Because our aim was to visit our daughter who was working at high altitude rescue posts in Machermo and Gokyo, Nepal, we didn't fit into any of the scheduled trips already on offer at that time. Right from the start, Roland communicated well with us, and in putting together a bespoke trek for us, we felt he had taken into account our levels of fitness, age and experience, to make the whole trip very appropriate for our aims. The pre-trek communication and information was very comprehensive, not only in terms of essential kit needed, and the risks of altitude sickness, but also useful tips such as how to navigate Kathmandu immigration. It became clear on the trek that he chooses and treats his guides and porters well, since we witnessed several other incidences involving other trek companies, which didn't go so well. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, reassuring and kind, and we felt the whole time we were in good hands.
The attention to safety was extremely good, especially in relation to our wellbeing, with our oxygen saturation and heart rates monitored each evening, to detect any signs of altitude sickness, before we might become unwell. We remained well during the whole trip which is a testament to Roland's itinerary planning and our guide's attention to detail every day, making sure each day's walk was not overtaxing us. Although we were fully expecting the accommodation to be very basic, perhaps the only area which fell well below our expectations was the standard of cleanliness of the toilet facilities in the tea houses, and we put that down to our lack of experience on this type of trek. Overall we would wholeheartedly recommend Roland Hunter and The Mountain Company, as being a responsible trek company. The attention to detail and safety during our trek was outstanding, and made our trip extremely enjoyable and memorable.

Did a marvelous, well-planned, well-led trek into Everest Base Camp with The Mountain Company. Had some travel challenges getting to Kathmandu and they were very helpful sorting it all out. They were hyper-vigilant about trekker health and always on guard for signs of difficulty, and remarkably accommodating and helpful to all trekkers. A great experience thanks to their skilled team and expert planning.

We travelled with the Mountain Company back in October 2019 for our trek to EBC, the whole experience was amazing from initial enquiries with Roland from the Mountain Company to the end of our trip with an extended stay in Kathmandu. The trek itself was an amazing experience with the accommodation, our guide and porter throughout, planning and organisation of the trek, the scenery and of course the ultimate achievement of reaching EBC. Throughout the trek our health was checked daily with oxygen levels whilst at altitude which was very reassuring for us as we neared EBC. We would have no hesitation of booking another trip with The Mountain Company, their hospitality and knowledge is fantastic in every aspect.

We used The Mountain Company to organise our trip to Nepal in November 2019. We went for the Annapurna Luxury Lodge trek. We had looked on line at alternatives but TMC offered the trip/trek which fitted exactly what we wanted from trekking in Nepal. The organisation from start to finish was superb and every question/query we had was answered quickly and positively by Roland or by theirs representatives in Nepal. Going to Nepal for us was slightly daunting but because it ha d been so well organised it went as smoothly as one could have hoped. It turned out to be the most wonderful experience and over and above our expectations to the extent we would certainly return to Nepal. TMC were simply exceptional and made it the trip of a lifetime.

I've been on a couple of trips with TMC (Manaslu Circuit/Tsum Valley in 2017 and Kanchenjunga Circuit in 2019) and honestly would not use anyone else. Excellent preparation, great attention paid to the details, and solid, experienced leadership. The trips were both very well managed and any issues were dealt with promptly and efficiently. Would not hesitate to use them again!

The Mountain Company is a very good travel company. I would highly recommend The Mountain Company. I have travelled with a few other companies however in my opinion The Mountain Company is far superior. Roland Hunter ensures that the participants experience excellent service and very safe adventures. Roland works very hard to make this happen. I would certainly travel with the Mountain Company again hopefully in the very near future.

Having tried to gain information on trips to Nepal from a variety of reputable companies i found the mountain company to be the most attentive in fully answering our questions
Booking for the first visit in 2013 we found the whole mountain company either in UK or Nepal to be of the highest standard
Client satisfaction , safety and professionalism are of the highest order
The company pride themselves on caring for not only their clients but also their workforce which I feel is so important in this age

I have trekked with quite a few companies in Nepal, India and Pakistan and all of them have done a good job. However, TMC are by far the most focussed on safety and not just for the trekkers but for all the support staff and porters. The acclimatisation profile was superb and gave us all plenty of time to get used to the increase in altitude. Having been evacuated by helicopter once when I fell sick with the altitude, I realised just how important it is not to take shortcuts with this. It makes all the difference to your enjoyment of the holiday. Having an international qualified mountain guide is getting unusual now among the trekking companies and TMC stand out for having such a guide on many of their more demanding trips and I personally think this adds a lot of knowledge and experience to the team. I would have no hesitation in recommending Roland and TMC to anyone thinking of visiting the Himalaya.

Roland and The Mountain Company provided excellent pre-expedition information and all questions were expertly dealt with prior to our departure to Nepal. Everything finally came together when we met in our hotel in Kathmandu with Roland, Joe (our expedition manager), Arjung our wonderful Sherpa guide and Sarky our shy but friendly, unflagging porter.
Kit was checked and the four of us were ready for our flight into Lukla. Our small group size enabled us to do alternative routes, as befit our fitness and the conditions which meant day to day decisions could be taken quickly and positively while enroute. Confirmed by Joe at base and Arjung.
An excellent expedition, expertly arranged and safely executed throughout.
I would not hesitate, in fact I have already recommended The Mountain Company to some of my like minded fellow adventurers who are seeking to go to Nepal and Everest.

Introduced to the Mountain Company by a trekking veteran, who explained he wouldn't use anyone else in his Himalayan excursions. I can see why! Excellent communication throughout. Before, during and post trek. Met on arrival, briefed, introduced to our guides and porters. The whole event was seamless. A guided trek to Gokyo Ri, through wonderful landscapes, cultures and of course 'the mountains'. Breathtaking! The guides, porters were extremly professional, accomodation, food etc. was excellent. It truly was a wonderful experience made possible by The Mountain Company. Thank you. I simply have to return.

I have trekked in the Himalayas with 4 different trekking companies and, whilst all have been good, The Mountain Company has become my first choice for the following reasons
1) When you are researching a trek you can call Roland and get straight answers from someone who really knows the routes.
2) Treks are planned to give sufficient time to acclimatise and build in spare days so that you can make the most of the time at the high camps. Beware others that force their schedules to fit a 2 week window.

Love the Mountain Company! We have done several trips with them and all of the experiences have been great. The trips are well organized/planned, fun and very professional. I especially love the respect they have for the local people who work for them and their continuous effort to minimize impact on the environment and sensitivity to the local culture. We expect to travel with them again soon.

The company, led by Roland Hunter, is outstanding. The treks are thoroughly researched and recce'd. The trekking leaders are hand-picked and trained to the highest standard and unlike many companies the Mountain Company continues to employ highly qualified international leaders on the more challenging routes. You will see the same excellent leaders working for the Mountain Company year after year because of their high regard for and loyalty to this excellent company. Roland Hunter is a superb logistician and communicator, is unfailing in promptly replying to enquiries or concerns and will run through any proposed trek in detail with you to ensure that the trek is a realistic, safe and enjoyable experience for you. The company maintains the highest level of safety and it is always reassuring to know that the leaders are in frequent contact with head office via satellite phone whilst on trek. Each year the company comes up with new trekking routes to explore more remote areas of the mountains which means that I am open to new temptations every season. The Mountain Company has a family feel to it so that every time I land in Kathmandu and Paro it is like coming home. During COVID the company has continued to support and care for its crew in Nepal and Bhutan; has kept its finger on the pulse regarding travel regulations, has invested in researching new treks and has a realistic plan to return clients to the mountains for 2021. I can unreservedly give The Mountain Company the highest recommendation.

The best trekking crew. I have been on 4 treks in Nepal in recent years. The Mountain Company did the best job of ensuring client health. I was impressed with the guides monitoring of our daily oxygen levels and attention to our needs at high altitude. It was a great experience.
