I find that telling women that "birth is like a big poo" and that the ideal drink in labour is champagne because "you deserve it!", is incredibly patronising if not down right dangerous.

Filled with buzzwords, like "advocate for yourself!" but with zero actual science based information to support said advocating, while the subtext reads as "advocating = declining interventions", just because.

Don't get me wrong, saying no to a Dr who is not taking your best interest into account IS empowering, but saying no for the sake of it, is just stupid.

There are thousands of free, evidence and science based videos on youtube (run by actual Drs or credible midwives) that will give you the same if not more, and better, information.

I cannot believe how simplistic, patronising and narrow minded this courses is.

Agree with the philosophy and some of the methods/techniques to try and have a natural birth with no medical interventions but this is unfortunately unlikely for many women for a wide variety of reasons.

We were completely underprepared for the reality and horror of birth by this course and lacked basic information such as the types of interventions offered, and the fact that it's normal to labour for 2+ days at home 1 day in hospital for a first birth. It even implies that birth doesn't have to hurt that much because Oxytocin is a natural pain killers suggesting that massage and other environmental factors negate the need for pain management drugs - this is manipulating the science to make it more 'positive' than it is, creating unrealistic expectations for women and making them feel like failures if they don't have the unmedicated natural birth they desire and strive for.

I have mixed views on the hypnobirthing course. I did it with my husband while pregnant. On one hand it does really help you have a positive mindset to birth and teaches some good breathing skills. However I think it massively undermines the fact that for a lot of women, birth is incredibly painful. The course teaches that as long as you’re breathing effectively you shouldn’t be in unmanageable pain. I felt blindsided by how painful labour was and then felt like a failure because I felt it was my fault. I regret taking the course because I feel it was part of the reason I found my birth so overwhelming and felt unprepared for the pain. I have heard others say the same about the course. Next time I’d do another Hypnobirthing course, but not this one.

I’m honestly shocked by the overwhelmingly positive reviews for The Positive Birth Company — I’m starting to wonder if they’re even real. From the very beginning, I was put off by the unnecessary requirement for every speaker to specify their gender before speaking. It immediately set a strange tone and felt completely irrelevant to the actual topic of birth preparation. The content itself is bland and superficial — full of generic advice you could easily find online for free. There’s very little depth or real expertise here. For example, the “breastfeeding expert” turns out to describe herself as a poet on Instagram. That says it all. While the course claims to be inclusive, it feels more like an exercise in pushing subversive, alienating language and ideology. Terms like “chestfeeding” and “pregnant people” are repeated so relentlessly that they start to affect your own speech patterns. There’s a clear agenda to normalize woke concepts rather than genuinely support expectant parents. Even the supposed focus — hypnobirthing — barely gets proper attention. What little there is can be easily found elsewhere, for free, and often presented in a clearer, more professional way. I personally chose not to finish the course because I don’t want to take part in what feels like a wokenisation project disguised as birth education. Shame on this company for not being upfront about their approach and for providing content of such poor quality.

Disappointed that breastfeeding has been replaced with "chestfeeding" and the seeming eradication of words relating to women in what is a female only experience. Friends and I going to look for another company which respects the special and vulnerable time for women and doesnt remove words relating to this unique experience. Feels insulting to replace the words of mothers, women etc with "birthing person". Stop diminishing something unique to us.

Disappointing value: The course includes sponsored videos, which felt like I was paying to watch ads. The content was also very basic. I learned far more from free YouTube videos and books on birth and hypnobirthing — and I’ve gone through many, so I can compare.

Refund policy felt misleading: They promote a money-back guarantee, but in reality, the 15% viewing limit makes it nearly impossible to watch enough to decide if it’s worth keeping.

Customer service experience: When I reached out, customer service left me feeling awful. I felt unfairly blamed and accused, and I left the interaction feeling distressed and wrongfully judged — not something I expected as a paying customer.

I truly regret purchasing this course. I had high hopes and believed in this company, but I left feeling disappointed and let down. I wish I had put my money elsewhere. Please share this with anyone considering their course — I don’t want other parents to feel the way I did.

The most incredible packages for mums to be, my friends absolutely rave about this company and the work and products they provide - highly recommended! It’s a great gift for mums to be too.

This course would have gotten 5 stars, but holy shit, the politics are absurd. You'd think that with this being a woman's course, designed for women, taught by women, and the fact that women have vaginas, would make the case to leave this make believe gender bs at bay. But no, they have to include in the very beginning, "We are currently working on some updates to parts of our content that were shot earliest and occasionally make the mistake of assuming that the gestational parent will always identify as a female. All the advice we give is relevant and hopefully helpful to all and please know that when we use the word mother, we mean to include any birthing person." Freaking ridiculous. They also use the term "chest feeding" to go along with their agenda. And then the WOMEN teaching the courses introduce themselves with their "pronouns"...1. like I give a shit and 2. like I'm ever going to address them.

There are many women on the website that are posted with photos of their babies and ZERO men. Wonder why that is?? Maybe because men can't give birth. The fact that they bring political bullshit into this course ALMOST made me ask for a refund immediately. If they can't tell the difference between a man and a woman, are they even legit?

But alas, I have to be fair about the actual course details and information. It is great. I love how the first instructor goes into detail with everything and she's not annoying. The second instructor annoyed the crap out of me.

Get rid of the politic bs and just teach WOMEN how to have a positive birth. No need to bring your stupid ideologies into science, when your ideologies clash with science. Makes you look idiotic.

Organisation believes in the eradication of women’s rights and contains gender language which is no longer legal

this course was full of information, easy to follow, and so easy to digest. it made my labour and birth a beautiful experience. i recommend this course to all my friends.

I have purchased the digital hypnobirthing course for 2 of my births now and would 100% recommend to any pregnant person. One birth I had was a beautiful home birth, this course empowered me to be able to give birth at home and to "breathe the baby out!" Understanding birth better, and being able to view it as a positive thing which I was in control of, completely changed my birthing experience, I felt in control, empowered and ready for the natural birth. I purchased it again when I was expecting my third baby and helped me remain calm for my hospital birth.

The Positive Birth Company had potential, but unfortunately, it's more concerned with pushing a woke agenda than focusing on the essentials of childbirth.

This course is supposed to help WOMEN—not people who identify as one—prepare for one of the most important moments of their lives, but instead, it dedicates a ridiculous amount of time to rebranding "pregnant women" as "pregnant people" and lecturing on LGBTQ+ birthing topics.

It’s absurd and insulting. Women give birth—this is basic biology. Catering to a tiny percentage of transgender individuals while alienating the majority of your audience is not progressive. It’s simply out of touch. Refilming entire sections to update language for inclusivity? Seriously? For what? So you can pander to an ideology that ignores reality?

The book was great, but this course was a disappointment. Luckily, it only cost £30, but I’ll consider that a wasted donation to a company that prioritizes virtue-signaling over actual value.

If you’re looking for a practical birthing course rooted in reality, look elsewhere. The Positive Birth Company has clearly lost its focus. Shame on them for letting ideology overshadow what should be a supportive, empowering resource for women.

PS, I’m not interested in a woke reply to this review reminding me that you are an inclusive company for everyone. Time to cut the BS.

I used this course 6 years ago and it helped so much with the birth of my daughter.

Wonderful course and customer service

I used the hypnobirthing pack for both births of my 2 daughters. It no doubt helped me give birth naturally in both occasions with only gas and air. The material leading up to the big day(s) helped me be informed and understand all the decisions I might need to make. The Freya app helped me remain calm, focused and composed throughout all the surges. Both second stages were fast, less than 30-45 minutes, I sustained tears but the breathing techniques for both stages undoubtedly helped me with the fast deliveries. I genuinely believe the pack helped me deliver my girls safely and in the way I wanted…more or less! I am so very grateful for this small business and would recommend them to anyone considering hypnobirthing.
