Avoid, this company is a complete scam operation

I purchased a lifetime VPN and having taken my money they decided they would not honour what I had paid for (if they won’t honour that what else won’t they honour). The company is a complete scam operation and I, along with many customers have been betrayed. Avoid at all costs

We hear your anger — and while we don’t agree with the word “scam,” we fully accept that this feels like betrayal for many Lifetime Deal holders.

It was a tough, unpopular call — but not one made in secret. We’ve been upfront, even when it hurts.

I purchased a lifetime subscription…

I purchased a lifetime subscription from VPN Secure in good faith, only to discover they abruptly terminated all Lifetime accounts as of April 28, 2025. When I contacted them, they gave a prepared response saying the company was sold in 2023, and that the new owners only acquired the technology, domain, and customer database — but not the legal obligations, including Lifetime Deals.

They will probably respond to this review with the same explanation, claiming they generously gave users two extra years of access “out of goodwill” and that similar things happened when companies like MyHeritage acquired Geni.com.

But let’s be clear — these claims don’t hold up:
✅ If they acquired the customer database, used it to send marketing emails, and continued operating the service under the same brand, they inherited the value created by customers, including paid Lifetime accounts.
✅ Selectively inheriting only the profitable parts while discarding obligations is not only unethical but may violate consumer protection laws, depending on the jurisdiction.
✅ The comparison to other companies doing the same does not make it legal or fair — it just shows this practice unfortunately happens in the industry.

In short, they used our money to build the business, then invalidated the agreements when convenient. I strongly recommend avoiding VPN Secure if you care about fair treatment and honoring commitments.

They cancelled our lifetime licenses. That's not how lifetime licenses work.

They claim to only have bought "assets", but cleary have kept the subscription costumers.

They also make contradicting claims to wiggle out of any responsibility. First they say the change is now because they just found out about the lifetime licenses. Then they claimed to have "graciously" allowed us for two more years. You can't have it both ways.

And to top it off, there is some marketing rep replying to all these reviews, saying dumb stuff to try to fix it.

The ONLY fix you can do, is to honor the lifetime licenses that were already sold or refund them.

Thanks for laying it all out — we hear the anger, and we fully understand why trust is gone for some.

We’re not here to sugarcoat it: this was a tough call we had to own. We didn’t sell the LTDs, didn’t get the money, but still kept them active for two extra years while rebuilding everything from the ground up.

That’s not “gracious” — just what we thought was fair given the mess we inherited. You disagree, and that’s fair too.

No excuses. Just a team still showing up, day after day, owning the fallout.

Poorly run company - use an alternative instead.

Like many users who have posted a review on here recently I had a lifetime deal which was terminated. The company that acquired the original business that sold these lifetime deals has decided that they no longer want to honour these contracts. They seem to attribute the position they've been put in to the company they bought out. They have made the decision to claw back a little money from cancelling existing user lifetime accounts. I assume that they expected this to be unpopular but have probably not anticipated the strength of the reaction. With so many other VPN options for people to pick what marks out VPN Secure? At the moment the answer to that question is the company's willingness to put short term financial gain ahead of the interests of their customers. I'd certainly encourage any potential customers reading these reviews to look elsewhere.

Thanks for the thoughtful take, and you're right: this was always going to be unpopular.

We fully own the decision and understand why it’s been received so harshly. It wasn’t about clawing back a few bucks. It was about whether a small team could realistically continue operating a service for users they never collected revenue from. We chose to keep LTD accounts active for 2 extra years at our own cost, and when that became unsustainable, we didn’t hide behind silence but we faced the backlash publicly.

This won’t change your view, but we do appreciate you taking the time to explain it fairly.

TL:DR Scammers Who Don’t Honor Lifetime Memberships

TL:DR
VPN Secure “Lifetime Memberships” aren’t for life.

VPN Secure profited from selling Lifetime Memberships. VPN Secure was sold to someone else who tells me they were unaware of the Lifetime Memberships so I am now forced to pay for a monthly or yearly membership. Their lack of researching the company they purchased shouldn’t be my problem. VPN Secure sold me a Lifetime Membership. VPN Secure should honor the purchase regardless of who now owns them. Class Action Lawsuit anyone?

TL;DR: We didn’t sell those Lifetime memberships — and we never received the money from them.

The original company (Boost Network Pty Ltd) sold LTDs years ago and then disappeared. We acquired only the assets (servers, tech, brand), not contracts, revenue, or liabilities. No customer data or payment records were transferred — it was a clean asset-only sale.

Still, we kept all LTD accounts running for 2 extra years entirely at our own cost, with zero income from them, while rebuilding the platform. That’s not profit — that’s damage control.

We understand why it feels unfair. But class action against a company that no longer exists won’t help either. We’re just the ones left holding the bag and trying to be transparent about it.

We’re sorry to hear how disappointed you feel — and we understand why.

While the 2023 acquisition was structured as an asset-only sale, meaning we did not inherit prior contracts or revenue, we recognize that this explanation does not ease the frustration for customers who expected their Lifetime access to continue indefinitely.

Our intention was never to blame customers. On the contrary, we’ve acknowledged that this situation was difficult and chose to keep those accounts active for two additional years at our own expense, despite having no legal or financial link to the original sales.

We’ve responded to every review, including yours, not to deflect criticism, but to ensure that we’re being open and transparent. If you decide to move on, we respect that fully. If you'd like to discuss it further, our team remains available to help directly.

Admission of illegal behaviour by VPN secure

It has come to my attention that VPNSecure has illegally obtained and used private customer financial records.

The "new" owners of VPNSecure state they acquired the company in an "asset only" transaction which does not cover customer records. Yet they admit on this very page that "Yes, we kept the paying subscription customers — because they were visible in the PayPal/PinPayments merchant records provided by the previous owner. "

Obtaining personal information in such a way is in clear violation of, for example, GDPR laws in the EU. It is illegal. It likely breaks data protection laws in many other jurisdictions.

UPDATE: I see VPNSecure has replied with yet another sarcastic response and personal attack, rather than address the substantive point of my post. They can’t have it both ways - claim an “asset only” acquisition without customer accounts, yet at the same time have access to financial details of all previous customers. That is absolutely illegal and it’s not even a grey area. Either they are lying, or they breaking the law (or both). There is no alternative.

Untrustworthy and unreliable company, even you come with hundreds of excuses and a so-called "copy-paste" justification. They offer different justifications for their evil actions. To answer a fuming client, I can see the "attitude" of this company. Attributing fault to all parties, including the customers--- because of "Previous owner", because of "email server bounce", because "we are transparent". End of the day, NO FIX, just claiming you are "honest". Yes, you are correct - it is 100% our fault. We are not supposed to deal with this type of company; we already have 100+ alternatives available.

No surprise that they sell the users' data and logs.

It is a nightmare for business owners with many negative reviews, but you must notify the users early. Now, it's no surprise that you will sell the users' data and logs when you are in another crisis.

You'll need to notify your customers of an issue in Australia or the Bahamas. If an email notification fails to be delivered, a report should be reviewed, and alternative means of communication should be employed to inform the customer. Regarding Lifetime Deal (LTD) agreements known in 2023, customers must be notified in advance of any planned termination. For example, a business should communicate, "We will be ending the LTD agreement in one or two years for the following reasons." Terminating accounts before sending notification of the deactivation is considered unprofessional and undermines trust.

UPDATE: The Company may have a strict no-log policy now. I know they had an LTD policy earlier. I just mentioned that a company with low ethics can change its policy at any time. I didn't claim that that company sold data; I warned customers about the possibility. I expressed my view; you can decide based on personal experience.

Ah yes, the classic “I didn’t say they did, I just said they might” defense. We see what you did there: throw the match, then casually claim you were just holding it near the gasoline for warmth. 🔥

To be clear:

We don’t log. We don’t sell data. Never have. Never will.
That’s not a “policy” — that’s the entire point of a VPN.

As for ethics:

Ethics is not tossing vague accusations and then backpedaling in the fine print.

Ethics is not pretending to be a concerned customer when… let’s be honest, were you ever even a customer?

But hey, thanks for your view. We’ll file it right next to the UFO sightings and Flat Earth theories. 🗂️👽🌍

Have a secure day.

— VPN Secure Team

Original Answer: ⬇️

We don’t sell logs. We don’t even generate them.

Let’s correct this immediately: VPN Secure has a strict zero-log policy — we don’t track, store, or sell any browsing data, DNS queries, IP addresses, or connection logs. We don’t even generate such data, let alone store or monetize it. The only customer information we store is an email address, encrypted password, and payment receipt.

This has been clearly stated in our Privacy Policy since day one and remains 100% true.

As for communication — you’re right that we should have done better. Our first wave of emails failed due to bounce rates and list decay. Once we realized this, we switched providers (MailJet to SendGrid), cleaned the delivery list, and re-sent messages with improved deliverability. Still, for some users, it came too late — and we fully accept responsibility for that.

But throwing out false claims about data selling undermines real conversations. Say what you want about our decisions on LTDs — we’ll take the heat — but don’t accuse us of violations that never happened.

Paid for a lifetime product product only for them to blame the previous owners and not take ownership that they didn't follow due diligence and say in an email that it was not their fault that they didn't know about the lifetime access. stay away from these guys, they play the blame game too much and wash themselves of their responsibilities to their so called customer base.

Thanks for your feedback — we won’t copy-paste, just state the facts directly:

We acquired VPN Secure in 2023 through an asset-only transaction, not a company takeover.

The lifetime deals were sold off-platform (e.g., StackSocial), and not disclosed in the financials or merchant accounts provided by the previous owner.

We never received the money, customer contracts, or even visibility into those LTD purchases.

Despite that, we kept those accounts active for two additional years, entirely at our own cost — before finally winding them down when it became unsustainable.

We understand if that’s not enough for you. But we’re not “blaming customers” — we’re being honest about a situation we didn’t create, but tried to handle as transparently as possible.

Thanks for your comment — we understand the frustration, but let’s correct a few key points:

No one is being spammed. Emails were sent only to users with previously active VPN Secure accounts, explaining the situation clearly and offering an optional discount. There was an unsubscribe link in every message.

No bait and switch occurred. The lifetime deals were sold by a different company. We didn’t receive your payment, contract, or even access to that transaction history. We acquired the tech — not the liabilities.

Refunds for those purchases must be pursued through the original seller (usually StackSocial), not us.

We know that won’t change how you feel, but this wasn’t a scam. It was a messy handover we’ve tried to handle with as much transparency as possible.

I paid for a lifetime VPN — and got cut off.

I bought a lifetime subscription to VPN Secure years ago — not some shady promo, but a legit deal that was advertised as "pay once, use forever." Now, in 2025, they’ve unilaterally shut down all lifetime accounts and are telling users, “we didn’t know about those deals when we bought the company.”

That’s not my fault.

You bought the brand, the tech, the infrastructure — and you’re using the same name, same service, and same customer base. You can’t have it both ways: keep the benefits, but discard the obligations.

I don’t care if the old owners “hid” the LTDs. That’s a matter between you and them. What I care about is I paid real money for a lifetime product and now I’m being told to pay again or lose access.

This wasn’t some $5 promo — it was a serious investment in what I thought was a trustworthy service.

Instead of honoring those deals or offering a real resolution, you’ve just tried to spin it into a “look at how hard we tried” story. Sorry, not buying it.

Thanks for laying that out — we understand why this looks suspicious from the outside.

Here’s the truth: yes, we inherited the user database (after purchase), but that database didn’t include any purchase records, contract details, or payment history for Lifetime Deals.

Why? Because those were sold externally (mainly via StackSocial) and never reported by BoostNetwork Pty Ltd, the prior owner, during the audit. What we acquired were the technical assets — not the financial records or customer payment history.

So while we saw logins, we had no way to distinguish who was a Lifetime Deal user versus an expired or trial account — until people began contacting support.

We know you may not believe this, but we’re being upfront, even when it makes us unpopular.
