I have been happy with the payouts since my dog has been diagnosed and treated for Cushings Disease. It’s a lifetime condition and I’m not sure how long I will continue to receive reimbursements.... もっず芋る

HaPpY with service

Only joined this company last year
My wee dog got warts
Didn’t know I was covered but low and behold I am only paying 96 pounds towards the treatment but every little helps
I called and got lovely girl who helped me with the process
My vet handled the rest but if I knew they took fee for doing this would have dealt with it myself
But you live and learn
Can’t fault this company :)

BE WARNED AND AWARE! If you visit the vets within first 14 days of policy- you’ve basically voided your insurance for the foreseeable. But animal friends will happily take your money anyway.

Took insurance out for our kitten 17th Jan 2026.
Took him to the vets 29th Jan - he was diagnosed with a temperature most commonly related to a touch of cat flu.

Fast forward to February 12th. He had another check up at our usual vets, in regards to temperature. To make sure all was well.

In March (12th) I noticed my kittens eyes looked odd. So just to be on safe side we went back to vets. He was the diagnosed with FIP. A fatal disease, basically without meds asap he would die- or at Least have to be euthanised.
We then spent nearly £500 on blood tests and life saving medicine.
This was none related to the previous check ups.

But, because Animal friends said I took him to the vets with a temperature within the first 14 days of the policy in January. The condition was pre existing. They have declined to pay out for the treatment of FIP.
I’m furious, as if this was pre existing, my kitten would’ve been dead in the mean time.
It’s wrong of animal friends to link a simple temperature almost 2 months prior to a serious, and deadly and very progressive feline disease.

I’m so disappointed. First time in 20 years of having pets I’ve had to make a claim, and animal friends have done their hardest to find a way not to pay out.

They have also branded my kittens policy to state that anything related to FIP is now not covered. Absolutely disgusting. No reassurance having insurance. And I’m cancelling immediately.

I’m going to the ombudsman about animal friends, and the media, to warn other pet owners.

Basically if you pet has a visit to the vets within14 days of policy - you have voided it!

I have been a client of Animal Friends


I have been a client of Animal Friends for a number of years, my eldest dog is covered by their insurance. I find the whole process so much easier with Animal Friends - the vet practice put the claim information onto the portal, I get a notification that a claim has been put through and usually very quickly get reimbursed for the treatment/prescription costs. Very good service - never had to contact customer services so can't comment on them, it's always been so easy to use that I have never needed them!

Pre-authorisation and claim settles quickly

Needed some x-rays and blood tests to try and work out why our dog was limping. The vet and reception staff used the pawtal to send all the appropriate details to get the claim pre-authorised which made life so much easier for us. After the appt the claim was sent in by the vet and paid out within a few days. Such an easy and stress free way when you already are worried
