Avoid Bradleyâs York if you value yourâŠ
Avoid Bradleyâs York if you value your engagement experience.
âAvoid this store if you care about your engagement! What started as a great experience went quickly downhill. They didn't just fail on a technical level, they ruined the emotional attachment to the ring and the entire experience of getting engaged. Imagine attaching such a bad experience to something so meaningful that you'll wear for the rest of your life!
âWe bought a two-tone engagement ring, but when we went to collect it after resizing, the entire head was yellow gold. They completely missed this massive quality control issue, we had to point it out to them after only noticing as we were about to leave the store.
âIt only got worse from there:
- âConflicting Stories: One person gave one story, then the manager gave another, first we were told the ring was "remade," then later claimed it was the original and the factory just forgot the white gold. This inconsistency left us wondering what we actually bought. We still don't know which story is true
- âZero Respect for Boundaries: We specifically asked to be left alone on the day of the failed collection to salvage our engagement dinner. They ignored this and called just before 4PM anyway, further upsetting my fiancée and ruining our evening.
- âThe "Delivery" Incompetence: I was told the ring would be sent via Special Delivery to arrive by 1 PM Friday by the manager. I stayed in all morning waiting. At 12:54 PM, the store called asking how I wanted it delivered, they had no idea about the plan and I was told they would never just post something of this value. Total lack of internal communication.
â- The £25 Insult: After admitting they ruined the experience, and their initial suggestion of an experience so we can go get afternoon tea at Betty's, they offered a pathetic £25 voucher. When I pointed out this didn't even cover the travel and parking for the initial failed collection, I was told this was "more than we are obliged to do." We haven't yet received this, and I fully expect them to now claim the mini prosecco and travel jewelry box (which we would never have wanted) that is in the bag as their "gesture of goodwill"
âTo top it off, when they finally hand-delivered the ring, they tried to get me to sign a document confirming I was "happy with the item" to cover themselves against further complaints to the NAJ.
âBradleyâs treats your engagement like a "fit for purpose" transaction, not a milestone. They think ruining a lifetime memory is worth the price of a takeaway. Absolute insult of a "luxury" jeweler. Go elsewhere.
The Northallerton branch of BradleysâŠ
The Northallerton branch of Bradleys were so kind, I took a bracelet in to be fixed following the passing of my husband. It was a tricky job, yet the fantastic lady there mended it and along with her colleague were so kind and thoughtful with their words and actions. I am so very grateful to them.
Great shop with lovely staff
My husband had made a surprise appointment to view a ring for my birthday. Both Kay and Karen were really welcoming and helpful showing us a number of rings for me to try on. We chose one which was on platinum and as I want yellow gold is being made for me. While trying on rings they also cleaned all my other rings which was lovely. Great shop with lovely staff.
A Disturbing Ordeal â My Late Fatherâs Rolex Taken, Serviced and Withheld Without Consent
Iâm writing this review to warn others to be extremely cautious when dealing with Bradleyâs Jewellers in Harrogate after what became a five-month ordeal involving my late fatherâs Rolex.
In June 2025, I took my late fatherâs Rolex Oyster Perpetual for a simple valuation. I knew it would be sent to the Harrogate branch for assessment and explained that I wanted an idea of value with the possibility of selling depending on what it was worth. When I spoke with Peter Bradley Jnr, he offered me a price. I told him that as I was at work and didnât know much about watches (something he later took full advantage of), I would need to discuss it with my family first. After I turned down his offer, he immediately tried to pressure me into a part-exchange for jewellery at nearly twice the cash price, a tactic that felt manipulative and opportunistic. A few days later I confirmed I did not wish to sell, and he assured me the watch would be returned the following week.
That return never happened. Instead, Peter repeatedly told me the watch would be back âin two weeks,â over and over, for months. What he never disclosed was that he had already sent it to an outside repairer in Manchester for servicing and refurbishment without my knowledge or consent. I was never told who this repairer was or whether they were Rolex-certified, information I still donât have. You wouldnât take a Porsche to a Fiat garage for servicing; the same principle applies here.
When I finally confronted Peter Bradley Jnr, after weeks of lies and deliberate silence, he admitted the watch had been sent away âby mistakeâ and called it an âembarrassing error.â He even instructed me not to contact the original branch, isolating me as a customer and keeping full control of the situation while withholding vital information. I was told I should be grateful because they were treating it as a âfree service.â Yet after that supposed apology came a demand: unless I paid at least part of the unauthorised service cost, he would âput the watch in the Harrogate shop window for sale.â Hearing that was shocking and deeply distressing, this was my late fatherâs watch, and I suddenly felt like I was being held to ransom for someone elseâs mistake. He behaved as if the watch already belonged to him, taking decisions and making threats over it without any agreement, paperwork, or legal right to do so.
In early October 2025, both Peter Bradley Jnr and Janet Bradley called me. The conversation was heated and emotionally draining. Peter maintained that I had agreed to sell him the watch (something I never did) and Janet backed him up even though she had not been involved in any earlier communication. When I asked where the written confirmation or payment was to prove any sale, there was none, because none existed. Peter then said the watch would only be returned if I signed a âlegal agreementâ stating that if anything went wrong after collection, Bradleyâs would bear no responsibility and that I would agree not to post negative reviews.
After months of delays and stress, I finally collected my watch on 1 November 2025. At collection, I was presented with a typed statement from Peter Bradley Jnr claiming that I had booked the watch in âwith a view to sell,â that I accepted the unauthorised service, and that I agreed not to write negative reviews. I signed only to confirm receipt and wrote a handwritten note underneath making it clear that my signature did not indicate consent or acceptance of those conditions.
To this day, I still donât know exactly what work was carried out on my fatherâs watch or by whom. Despite repeated requests, and even confirmation from Claire Bradley that they would provide an itemised list, nothing has ever been supplied.
This experience caused months of anxiety, sleepless nights, and emotional distress. I placed my trust in a family-run jeweller, only to be met with dishonesty, intimidation, blackmail, and a complete lack of accountability. What began as a straightforward valuation turned into a nightmare that no customer should ever face.
Amazing customer service!
My two sisters and I brought in our late Grandmaâs rings to be resized at Bradleyâs Northallerton, and we were served by the lovely Lesley. She turned what could have been a sad moment into a really comforting and positive experience. She treated our Grandmaâs rings with such care and gentleness & Lesleyâs warmth, understanding, and genuine care left a lasting impression on us. She made us feel truly looked after and we just wanted to share how much that meant to us.
Outstanding Customer Service
I have just received the most amazing customer service from Marline - The Manager of Barkers Arcade, Northallerton (Bradleyâs Jewellers).
I had a problem with my recently purchased (July) George Jenson silver bracelet. Initially it was going to be sent back to Denmark for inspection and repair.
After a couple of days I received a phone call from Marline, to offer me a new identical replacement bracelet, as she considered the estimated 3 months possible waiting time, for my original bracelet to be returned to me as excessive.
Thankyou Marline for such a first class service from you and all your staffð
With love and gratitude,
Sue and Mick Woodhouse.
I have been a customer of BradleyâsâŠ
I have been a customer of Bradleyâs since 1998 and bought many items of jewellery, silver candle sticks, photo frames etc. My husband bought me a ring 5 yearâs previous to me visiting Bradleyâs shop in Harrogate as three small emeralds had been lost from the ring. On purchase the ring was not big enough so Bradleyâs altered the ring. Then COVID struck!
I went to see them to see why I have a ring that was inferior having lost stones, they were inset in the ring, so not easy to remove. I first went into the shop with my ring but I was told by a member of their staff, it was too close to Christmas and would I bring it back in the new year, which I did.
I then heard nothing so I popped in regularly to find out what was happening with my ring, nobody knew anything, but theyâd be in touch once they knew something. After several times until finally last week Oct 2025, I went in as I had received a text message telling me my ring was ready for collection - I was delighted. When I went to the store I was indeed given my ring in a clear plastic bag. I had a look at the ring and noticed the three stones were still missing! I was told Mrs Bradley had tried to ring me several times on my mobile, because I hadnât responded.
There was a white envelope the lady pointed out their had been a price to fix the ring but Mrs Bradley wanted to talk with me from her Scarborough store, which wasnât the store number I had in my contacts for Bradleyâs and seems I have call screening on my phone which stops unknown numbers calling my phone. I had retired a couple of years previously and didnât want to deal with the new owners business.
When I asked why it wasnât fixed already after over 10 months or having not received any call from the Harrogate store, I was not able to have my ring dealt with and yet when I received the text to collect the text to collect I did. If one canât get hold of me why wasnât I sent a text then?
I was told it wasnât fixed as I wore it on my left little finger it was knocking against my other rings engagement, wedding & eternity rings on said finger, so Mrs Bradley had decided that was why they were lost emeralds and the lady serving me pointed out that emeralds are soft, as if thatâs a reason⊠not to fix it, after all they wouldnât have fell out if the quality of the ring settings was quality? She said thatâs Mrs Bradleyâs information told to her. I pointed out Iâm right handed and the ring on my little finger with seven diamonds, which I inherited and had worn for 25 years, not one stone had fell out! In fact I pointed out the ring was over 100 year old. Perhaps therefore given my emerald ring being five year old had been stretched by them when we first bought it by, the store and perhaps that was the reason?
I couldnât have been more incensed that Mrs Bradley thinks thatâs good customer service - really. It in fact reminded me of Gerald Ratner selling rubbish and his subsequent downfall - was similar to Mrs Bradleyâs response having spent thousands with them over the years!
I said to the lady I was feeling tearful, having had my ring for over 10 months, nothing had been done or even offered is terrible. So I left the store, once out of the store I put the ring on and realised that given the visual of the rings next to my little finger was nowhere near the other rings, so I returned to show the lady who spoke to me and proved it couldnât be the problem other than inferior quality? She said sheâd speak to Mrs Bradley, Iâve heard nothing again.
I leave you to draw your own conclusions of how when something goes wrong - Mrs Bradley couldnât care less!
My advice donât buy anything from Bradleyâs store. I wonât ever again.
Bradleys The Jewellers - Barkers Arcade
I have been into this shop about three times over the last few weeks to ask advise about a couple of rings (one for my sons engagement and the other for my wife). The three ladies (Martine, Andrea and Carole) who dealt with me were exceptional, giving advise and help at every stage of the process. I honestly can not express enough how understanding and kind they have been. I would highly recommend this jewellers to anyone wanting fantastic customer service! Thank you all so very much.
An awful experience
An awful experience, made an appointment online which they were completely unaware of. The person we spoke to didnât have any customer service skills. The other member of staff ignored us until a substantial amount of money was mentioned! Will never shop there againâŠ
Bradleyâs the Jewellers Barkers Arcade
Both my sister and I went to Bradleyâs to create two bespoke diamond pendant necklaces. The diamonds have been in our family for many years. Weâre now the 5th generation to have them. They were left to us after my mum passed away. Itâs been a very special but sad moment for us. Weâve been guided, supported and treated with so much kindness. Michael visited us from York, talked us through the process and design options. We picked up the necklaces today and they were better than we could have imagined. Thank you to the Bradleyâs team for looking after us all during a very sad but special moment! Special thank you to the ladies in the shop, for all your help, kindness, tea and sweets!
Best service and lovely shop
Today we bought a tag ladies watch from Bradleyâs in Scarborough. Stuart the lovely sales person was very informative about the watch and extremely helpful. We really liked the shop very traditional and Stuart was very smartly dressed. We were so pleased with finding the shop and Stuart made it very special for us. Thank you ð
Beautiful Bradleys
Visited Bradleyâs in the arcade with a couple of repairs, including a faulty watch bracelet. Martine was amazing, taking time and care to fix things up and give great advice. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the ladies in this store and their welcome, product knowledge and customer care are second to none. Itâs always a pleasure to pop in. Thank you ð
Northallerton Bradleyâs Outstanding!
A couple of months ago, we made a visit to Bradleyâs in Northallerton for a very special reason - the repair and restoration of a ring past down several generations of our family. From the moment we walked in, there was such interest in the ring and its story and the ladies serving us were wonderful, They showed such enthusiasm and explained everything that they would seek to do. Today we picked up the ring. WOW! It was like a totally new piece and once again the ladies showed such joy in presenting the ring back to us - completely restored to perfection, every detail evident and fitting beautifully. It is only right that we acknowledge the workmanship of a true craftsman. We highly recommend this wonderful shop and will be so grateful for the brilliant service we received. Thank you Bradleyâs Northallerton.
Exemplary customer service again and again
We have bought a few special pieces of jewellery from Peter at Bradley's over the years and have always returned due to his excellent and attentive customer service he has shown us when we visit. We have always appreciated his kindness and ability to listen and help us choose the perfect fit for us, his patience is extraordinary and very helpful when you are not quite sure. On our latest visit we were assisted by Katrina, who patiently listened as I tried to explain what I wanted for my 60th birthday present. Katrina found me the ring I didn't know I wanted until she showed it to me and it was absolutely perfect. I cannot thank her enough. Buying the perfect ring can take a few visits and Katrina showed me numerous options. When we tried 'the ring' she was as happy as I was. Bradley's is that rare shop, no pressure, just a joy for lovely jewellery with the care and consideration of making sure you are looked after 100%. They are definite five star customer service business. Lorraine Wilson
First Class Jeweller
Each time I visit York I visit this jeweller as the service and choice is brilliant. Purchased some beautiful gold two tone hoop earrings this visit. Jen was amazing and listened attentively to what I needed. Hopefully be back to York next year and my yearly visit to Bradley's. Thank you.
Bespoke jewellery? Go to Bradleys
I recently visited Bradleys in Harrogate to arrange remodelling of a solitaire ring and commission a new eternity ring, using antique diamonds from a bracelet.
Katrina discussed my requirements in minute detail and helped me decide on design features. Her knowledge and experience were invaluable in informing my decision.
Katrina contacted me and emailed the finished design once completed. She kept in regular contact with me throughout the 6 week period while the rings were being made.
When the rings were ready to collect Katrina was present and ensured that they were exactly as I had specified.
I am delighted with my beautiful rings and how perfectly they fit together , and felt that Katrina has been an essential part in my exciting journey.
I have received a very personal , professional and friendly service from Bradleys and would recommend the Harrogate store highly.
We visited Bradleyâs ArcadeâŠ
We visited Bradleyâs Arcade Northallerton today to ask if they could cut my eternity ring off which was stuck. The two ladies serving were very knowledgeable and kind and advised against it and said they could remove my ring and keep it intact. Although a little painful the lady was incredibly kind and gentle and my eternity ring remains intact and after cleaning is sparkling again, which I am very pleased about. They wouldnât accept any payment. Thank you for your 5 star service ladies.
What a special experience! Wow!
What a special experience! I visited Bradleys at 12 Market Row to ask whether it was possible to clean some family jewellery pieces. The ladies (and Westie, Ernie!) were an absolute delight, more than happy to help & provided kindness, care, knowledge and an outstanding service. They wouldnât take any payment, despite offering. Highly recommended - never known service like it. THANK YOU
A miracle repair frankly
I have long had a WWII Junghan's Stopwatch, which I think is genuine from online study, but it has not moved in years. . Thought I might try Bradley's in the High St Northallerton for a repair. All staff proved really helpful and, while my watch was being inspected, my wife got some very good advice about a necklace needing alteration. Many a suggestion about what might be done for me with estimates etc, when it suddenly started to move for the first time in years. An overtight spring it seems, but a minor miracle to me. Four hours later it is still going. My thanks to all the staff, they could not have been nicer.
