The way I was treated by someone when I was invited in to see a kitten was awful. As an experienced cat owner and breeder I was made to feel stupid and was talked down to for most of the conversation. She obviously didnât have the time to spend for us to see the kitten! I was also told I had a whole week to collect my chosen cat, however I was given one time slot on one day and it was take it or leave the kitten. She then continued the pain via a call to give me all the information needed, which was helpful, but again delivering such a patronising way.

I was very disappointed to have to leave a volunteer post I enjoyed because of another very bossy volunteer who made untoward comments about my religion (among other things).
When I raised the issue I was told that "management were aware of it" and that they had been "told about their behaviour".
Well it seems it's all fallen on deaf ears and they are continuing to voice their half-baked opinions.
It no longer affects me as I have left, which is a shame.
Update : 29/10/25
Now I have a reply asking me to contact various people who I have never heard of.
Whether or not they will take my concerns seriously remains to be seen.
Update: 8/11/25
No response to the email I sent 10 days ago.
Update 27/12/25
Still no response to the above e-mail
Update. 26/3/26 still no response from Head Office. Why should I chase the admin dept of a company that doesn't care about its volunteers?
There's not much point giving me an e-mail address when no-one replies ! They don't answer the 'phone either.
Update 2/5/26 - yet another e-mail sent in.
Update 5/5/26. - at last ! A response from Head Office asking for more information.
The Head Office investigation has concluded without them being able to uphold my complaint - due to "lack of evidence". I'm not sure what "evidence" they want.
I would like to say to anyone reading this who is considering volunteering for this (or any other Charity) to note that as a volunteer you don't have a Contract of Employment therefore very few Rights.

Cats Protection ããã®åç
Enquired about adopting a cat and cats protection didn't even reply to me. Im 55 with no children in the house and no other pets so assumed an ideal person for a cat. They didn't even reply to me. So is cat protection just a scam pretending to be a charity?

I contacted a lady who currently volunteers for cats protection who said she could help me as I have 26 rescue cats and kittens to care for. I currently have 8 to neuter and am unable to get any help or support at all no one will call me back and all I hear is we cannot help. I am supporting an elderly lady feed her feral cats and kittens. Sheâs using all her pension to pay and care for her cats and kittens. I am having to get my food from food banks as my cash is spent on my cats ðââ¬. There is no help at all from any agencies now all they do is give you numbers to ring or signpost you to other departments who say they cannot help and round and round we all go. I am currently writing a book on my experiences and am contacting local and national newspapers as the only help we will get is from other cat lovers as these charities can no longer help at all. I have rescued hundreds of cats in the last 40 years itâs never ever been this bad. Where is all the money going because millions is invested in cats protection and other agencies. Itâs a very sad time for animals and animal owners. Maybe we should all donate to people we know to help them directly and not agencies or organisations as a lot goes on paying peopleâs wages and not on the pets.

A friendly, knowledgeable team. Thank you for helping me find and take home the most gentle and loving of cats.

Cats Protection ããã®åç
Thereâs a purr-fect gem to be discovered in the heart of Brighton & Hove. Itâs Cats Protection, nestled at 107 Blatchington Road; itâs not just a charity shop, it's a sanctuary of savings, a mecca of manners, and a treasure trove of trinkets that'll make your inner cat lady (or gent) purr with delight.
The Purr-fect Staff & Volunteers
Firstly, let me tell you about the staff and volunteers. They're as warm and welcoming as a sunbeam on a windowsill. Their good manners are as sharp as a cat's claws, and their friendliness is as comforting as a cat's purr. They greet you with smiles that are as genuine as a cat's curiosity. I've never felt more at ease in a charity shop, and that's saying something, considering I once found a pair of used maracas in a thrift store that I'm still not sure about.
New Treasures Await
Now, let's talk about the merchandise. Cats Protection is like a catnip-fuelled jackpot! I've been in there so many times, and each time, there are new products just waiting to be discovered. It's like they've got a little cat burglar sneaking in at night, leaving behind a trail of trinkets and treasures. I've found everything from vintage records to quirky home decor, and each time, I've felt like I've struck gold.
Bargains That'll Make Your Wallet Purr
And the prices? Well, they're as affordable as a cat's nap. I once bought a brand new, still-in-its-packaging product for a fraction of what it would've cost in an ordinary store. I'm talking about 20% of the original price, folks. It was like finding a whole tin of tuna for the price of a single kipper. I've since become a regular, and I've yet to be disappointed.
Supporting Our Feline Friends
In a world where humans are often more irrational than a cat on a hot tin roof, it's heart-warming to see a charity like Cats Protection thriving. They're not just a place to find bargains; they're a place to make a difference. So, if you're in the Brighton & Hove area, do yourself a favour and pop into Cats Protection. Your wallet will thank you, your home will thank you, and most importantly, the cats will thank you. After all, we might be the ones with the opposable thumbs, but they're the ones with the real power â the power to make us laugh, to make us love, and to make us realize that sometimes, a purr is all you need.
So, give Cats Protection a visit. Your inner feline will thank you. And who knows, you might just find that perfect cat-themed mug to complete your collection.

I supported Cats Protection for years, well not anymore, and I will make sure to tell everyone I know that people working for them are deluded, insane and should not be near animals!!
C from Lea Valley Branch is a nasty, nasty liar. Her aim in life is not to save cats' lives and cats' well-being, but to feed her ego as she is a fragile, sad human being.
I never experienced anything like this and I will never trust cat's protection.
She originally came to help a colony we discovered and were helping. She started doing her "own stuff" without cats protection , leaving us in the dark, worried about the well-being of the cats, until we started pressuring her on what was going on with the cats and kittens she was taking and she revealed her true colours. We were extremely worried and left in the dark. She has no people skills and no empathy for people. This woman doesn't care about cats; she only cares about feeding her own ego.
I am absolutely disgusted by her lies and spreading hate towards people. I am disgusted by Cats Protection not taking action against her. She has brought someone on the verge of suici.e with her bullying and lies. These people MUST be stopped. I lost all trust in Cats Protection and animal charities in general. My heart goes out to those poor cats that are left in the hands of these people.
If anyone can call me from Cats Protection I will be willing to talk to them about this.

Myself and my husband adopted a cat from Cats Protection last year in September 2024. Rupert (our cat) became poorly a few days before we were due to collect him and Cats Protection couldnât have helped us more.
They gave us the option of taking away the medication they were now using and bringing Rupert home or keeping him in Cats Protection for a few more days in a comfortable environment. Needless to say we were keen to keep him comfortable and they cared for him so well and kept us updated.
Fast forward a few months and Rupert was urinating around the home (something we have never encountered before with any cat we have owned). Cats Protection were happy to help and advise what we could do about this and put us in touch with a behaviourist - who helped massively!
We now have a happy, healthy cat at home with us.
Thank you to Cats Protection at Stowbridge in Norfolk!

We had a fantastic experience with Cats Protection in Uckfield. Joe was absolutely wonderful â incredibly helpful, friendly, and so kind with our daughter, making the whole process really special for her. He took the time to answer all our questions and made sure we felt confident and prepared. Weâre so excited to bring our new cat home and feel really lucky to have had such a positive experience. Thank you again to Joe and the whole team!

My wife and I have had a dog for our girls but passed away 2005 and we were heartbroken and said we would never get another pet, then when the granddaughter put a seed in my wifeâs head about a cat we both looked at adopting and saw Amy in Gosport cats protection, we live in Southampton and they looked at our request with enthusiasm. We made an appointment to see Chris and she was lovely to meet and a hour later Amy was ours. The cats protection is a fabulous place to go to and adopt your cat they do fantastic work looking after all the cats so please if you want a cat go to cats protection first and save unwanted cats they will give you so much love in return.

Am in the process of adopting an older cat from Birmingham, Wythall. The whole process has been perfect from their phone call inviting us in to meet and greet to them accepting us. We collect in a few days time. Flead, wormed, vaccinated, speyed and microchipped. Sheâll come with her own knitted blanket and toys. The staff are lovely and helpful and explained the whole process to us. Thank you

Cats Protection ããã®åç
Cat Protection go above and beyond - adopting my cats was a smooth process and they were there every step of the way to support me. Our cats are healthy and happy, I truly believe this is from all the care CP gave them to enable them the best future. Shout out to Jackie at East Surrey

Cats Protection ããã®åç
Our cat likes to go outdoors and is microchipped will all paperwork there to prove that he is they picked him up took him in and then and tried to say he isn't microchipped and that we would need to pay to get him back absolute scam.

One star is too much, myself and partner went yesterday to see about a kitten,
I was so disappointed in the. Woman there she contradicted herself throughout our very brief conversation. She was extremely rude.
She asked us questions, in which we replied honestly. But because of her attitude I did get angry and told the woman to leave it and I walked out. Not a good experience for us unfortunately

Cats Protection ããã®åç
My neighbour spotted a black cat and five or six kittens in the field near our houses. After checking they hadnât come from any of the houses scattered around our rural area, we called Cats Protection and received prompt advice and assistance. Three humane traps were laid and the mum was caught that night. Three kittens same place the next morning and finally the remaining two. Over the three days, those trapped were checked by vets, neutered and vaccinated. The three larger kittens we were told went to a farm in another area and the mother cat returned to her stomping ground. The smaller kittens were receiving care till healthy enough to be rehomed. Cannot fault the care taken or the advice we received. A wonderful organisation with truly compassionate people who clearly love cats.

Cats Protection ããã®åç
Was given a number of a lady from cats protection league to neuter a some rescue cats we decided to keep, she was marvellous, since then she has helped us & family get neutered & spayed several rescue cats & kittens that we have then managed to find loving forever homes for, we also recommend her to new kitten owners on benefits to her to help keep the kitten population down & she is lovely & helpful,
Can't fault in anyway

It's a shame to see this charity going downhill, like most large corporate organisations, filled with jobsworth staff and overpaid managers/trustees. I will be giving to local charities from now on.
