Unfortunately can’t give a 0 star review. Chancellors Kidlington - lettings. Terrible experience. Do not use!
On two rental properties I have booked a viewing, only to be called the day after booking to say an offer has been made and “may be accepted” for the property prior to the viewing. Advised “if interested in the property you should submit your application without viewing”.
I asked for an earlier viewing so that I would not have to submit without and due to chancellors availability I was not able to get an earlier viewing. Coercive language used such as “you can wait for the viewing but obviously this offer could be accepted today”. Taking advantage of the rental market and the dire situation faced by tenants in order to force them into decisions they shouldn’t have to make. On both occasions it has then taken 8+ days to be told of a decision from the landlord, so “it could go today” is very clearly a lie and dishonest.
On the second property I chose to proceed on the agreement that the photographs were representative and there was no mould present in the property as I’m asthmatic and on preventative medication. I still wished to view the property as at that point I would have been able to pull out and only lose the application fee, but this viewing was cancelled by chancellors as the applications were in progress.
Upon entering the property, which has very clearly been vacant, unheated and poorly ventilated for months, there is mould present around every window, in the boiler cupboard, in the bathroom and on pipe work in the main living area. The shower does not work and the front door handle is coming away from the door and is not secure. The front fence has also fallen into disrepair and broken away completely - to which chancellors said they believed this was down to “block management”, but other properties in the block have informed me this is not the case. This property is FULLY MANAGED by chancellors. There was a professional clean completed prior to me getting the keys which is subpar as there are still items left behind from the previous tenants, and some aspects of rooms are far from clean, including the toilet and wooden floors.
Multiple phone calls to different agents and I’m given a verbal apology and told property management “will contact you today”. Absolutely nothing from property management. I chase previous agent and I’m told “they tried to get in contact but couldn’t get through” which is obviously untruthful as I have not received any missed calls, voicemails or emails. I’m then told I’ll have to wait until Monday to hear anything. The agreement was based on false information I was provided and as someone who has been looking for a property for 5 months (and chancellors were well aware of this) I felt pressured into entering the agreement unfairly.
Oh - and the “the lettings hub” platform they use for referencing is absolute trash. Not fit for purpose in any way, full of bugs, email links that don’t work and entirely unhelpful service team who also lied multiple times about sending information, receiving information from previous landlords and how the application is progressing.

Overall scarred and horrified by the service I have received and absolutely will not be using chancellors again. (For reference over the past 10 years I have been in multiple excellent rentals, with 6 different landlords, all from different letting agents who were absolutely seamless in comparison to this absolute trainwreck of an experience.)

Chancellors asked me to return the keys to the property on 16th February and are now chasing me for rent arrears despite them breaking the tenancy agreement by not giving access to the property for the remainder of the term. No response to my emails, simply more harassment by the way of further arrears notification.

Horrific service by property management and the whole group. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Anthony communicated very well throughout the whole process and was a real pleasure to deal with.

Since first meeting Anthony at valuation stage we have continued to receive a great service with open dialogue regarding the sale of our property. He has kept us fully informed regarding viewings and offers and continues to touch base whilst the sale continues to progress. Great service

After the coldest night of this year our boiler decided not to work and make us freeze to death:) Thanks to Jake Tippett the problem was solved less than a day! The house wasn’t even started to get cold when the problem was solved. Thank you Jake, you are not only good at your work and also a caring person.
