Thank you for everything!
I first sent an email of complaint onâŠ
I first sent an email of complaint on 24th May regarding the poor state of the hotel and facilities during our stay. I have rung and chased up the email and still no response.
Romantic weekend
We came here for a romantic stay after starting a family. My partner and I hadnt been away solo in 5 years so it was long overdue. This was the same hotel we stayed in when we decided to start a family all those years ago. And turns out they put us in the same room where the first child was conceived (sorry TMI). The stay was glorious and everything we could have hoped for. There was one hiccup with the bath we had in our room not working properly but the staff did everything that they could to smooth this over by offering free if charge items on our bill and the oppurtunity if a room change. The food in the thai is mind blowing! We eat alot of thai food but this is some of the best we have had. And to top it all off we had a hot air balloon ride arranged by the wild pig farm shop next door, where my partner propsed to me! The staff were thrilled to here the news and re dressed the room with rose petels on the bed / room and a bottle of chamapge. We could not have felt more welcome or special on what has been the best weekend of our lives! Thank you crazy bear x

Apparently itâs under new management!! Completely disappointing
Itâs so run down now

No wash facilities in Thai restaurantâŠ
No wash facilities in Thai restaurant (water not working in sinks and was refused using the kitchen sink, no service charge mention on drinks menu, no tea coffee facilities in room.
Bear in mind you have to use fingers to eat ribs having no wash facilities is soo wrong.
Room was something else, bonkers.
Any problems?- you just get ignored!
I booked a balloon flight with crazy bear through buy a gift last year for my very poorly mum as a birthday and Xmas gift. I went to book a date only to not be able to on buy a gift site and given a number to call which was for 'the wild pig' who are under a new name but not new management according to an admin employee. Well, i was told by wild pig that the buy a gift system was down and to speak to buy a gift - and that was IT! Not helpful at all. I spoke to buy a gift who said they wouldn't honour their vouchers as different company name but i could go for one of the other balloon rodes that Buy a gift offer. I said no as these were more expensive so they gave me a refund eventually. I then emailed wild pig to explain what buy a gift said and they'd created a button on their site where you could redeem the voucher (too late for me now as I'd had a refund refund - as they never told me this was an option). I've been trying to get hold of them for weeks for some help to see if they could honour the original price (as it's about £100 more expensive now) and no one is answering anything even though my messages are being read by someone. It's so frustrating that now I'll have to go to another company and pay more money to get the same experience as I'd already bought last year. I can't speak for their hotels, restaurants or the pilot for the balloon flight but do yourself a favour and don't bother booking a flight with this company because if anything went wrong, they just ignore you!
Used to fabulous but now expensive and rubbish.
We have dined here multiple times over the years and never had a bad experience until last night. We were sat at our tables with menus which were very disappointing as usually there is a wide choice but this was very poor. After 20 minutes, the staff asked if we'd like any drinks, we had to ask for the cocktail/wine list. We placed our order and 20 minutes later 1 drink arrived, along with our nibbles and our starters. We asked several times for the other drinks, 2 of us ordered the same cocktail and they were different. The bread with my terrine was nothing short of disgusting, glad we ordered the 'artisan' breads as this made it more palatable. Our mains arrived, we asked for a different sauce with our steak which never arrived, we ordered more drinks which took way too long to appear and when they did they gave us very hot water glasses. We decided not to have dessert and instead asked for the bill, which arrived in record time, unlike the drinks! We disputed the bill, the £45 "delivery fee", the terrine and sauce were also removed. We then went onto the terrace for drinks and again, the service was shocking, waiting 45 minutes in total to get drinks.
We will not be returning ever. This is such a shame as we've had nothing but brilliant service and food here. Every table in our section of the restaurant complained, so it wasn't just a one-off or us being difficult. When you're paying £17 for a cocktail, you expect something special and it wasn't. We joked that we should have gone to 'Spoons' and I think we'd of had a more positive experience there than here. Crazy Bear, you've lost it, you were great and now you're very expensive and extremely disappointing.
Service was appalling
Booked a table in the English Restaurant for eight people, my sons 30th Birthday.
Arrived and bar was very busy, 30 mins wait to get drinks.
Shown to table, had to get waiters attention to order drinks, had to ask for wine menu. Food menu was an A4 price of paper with small selection of food, not what we expected at all! There was nothing for my 5 year grandson to eat so ending up eating chips! We were not told that the chef had left and thatâs why there was limited food but I had to ask to find out this information
The food which we had to mix and match to our taste, was very tasty but the service was appalling! We had to ask the empty glasses be removed from table so we could have room.
We will not be returning to this establishment, very underwhelming experience.
Took a cancellation fee from our creditâŠ
Took a cancellation fee from our credit card when we had to cancel for a bereavement
December 2023.
We had a booking on 29 December 2023 for 5 people to celebrate our daughterâs new job. We were so excited, however sadly on 24 December our close relative (someone like a mum to me) was taken into hospital. After 5 days she died (on the morning of our booking); we phoned on 28 December to cancel the booking and explain our situation (we knew at this point she was going to die). In January we noticed £100 had been taken out of our credit card by the Crazy Bear - we tried, unsuccessfully (the phone was never answered) at first to call the restaurant, when we eventually managed to speak to someone we were promised a call back from a manager - it never happened. When we called back again and did manage to speak to the manager and explain (again!) the situation they refused to refund our money. We offered to send the death certificate as proof etc, they still refused. I understand there is a normal cancellation policy, I would have expected a high quality establishment such as Crazy bear to use discretion in these situations. Whilst they have said we can have credit against another visit, it isnât possible for us to come for many months as our daughter is at uni and as you can imagine the situation about why we couldn't come isnât something we want reminding of. They say treat others how youâd like to be treated - I hope the person making these âdecisionsâ never finds themselves in our situation and if they do, that they get to deal with a more understanding and kinder business.
Shame on you Crazy Bear.
My stay at Crazy Bear Hotel was aâŠ
My stay at Crazy Bear Hotel was a disappointment on multiple levels. The service was lackluster, cleanliness standards were below par, and the value for money was lacking. Moreover, the massage experience was ruined by the therapist singing and talking to herself, completely disrupting any chance of relaxation. Overall, it was a regrettable experience that I wouldnât recommend to others.
The place was interesting
The place was interesting, the staff were very nice and friendly but the food was appalling!!!
My granddaughter booked the Thai tasting menu for her and myself, wasnât available!!! Had English 7tasting dishes, all underwhelming and tasteless. Not one item was what expected.
The last dish cheese and crackers!!! Black cheese that tasted of nothing even had a member of staff taste it!!! Could taste a thing like charcoal!!! Disappointed for my granddaughter who had had a Thai meal there before and she was so happy. Today 2 very unhappy people who were not inspired and would not recommend it to anyone who enjoyed food. Sorry -0 points.
STAY AWAY
Arrived 25th March , deluxe room £390 , with NO tea coffee facilities , 1 bottle of water NO fridge!
£25 corkage if you take a bottle.
Copper bath looked great in the dark, in the morning when opened blinds.....the whole bath scratched and marked from years of head prints !
Cocktails were delish although started at £14 to £23 , for what i found out later by talking to guests was more of a GROUPON HOTEL !!! so search bargains , not all guests are paying a premium for budget stay!
Charlie greeted us, AMAZING asset to this set up ! just more than needed such continuity within the hotel to someone bouncing about stating i've been here since i was 14 and bags of self belief of her status because of her mothers connections in doing books, and by the sounds of things we all should of visited when Jason owned the building ( my god if only i could of been transported back) think the restaurant was more than aware of her credentials, apart from being a poor host who didn't read the room!
Don't think this host had ever eaten the food either when i elaborated that "by different" was a bad different , on my reply to what did you think ??
STAY AWAY from english restaurant ...
way laughable in the end, nothing paired up , was like a scene from the vicar of dibley , or a chef's enthusiasm to be heston for the night, trust my review , oh yes to top it off your deluxe room £390 comes with poor continual breakfast , you can buy up to your cooked breakfast and a cappuccino, laughable! if i didn't know better my assumption here would be new finance manger trying to suck there guests dry while staying in some weird vacuum of the hotel believing there once amazing ratings.
To note / google reviews BAD also, interesting google has blocked you adding further reviews on !???
Would NOT recommend
We receives a voucher as a gift from friends for a 12 course tasting menu. Very disappointing, food was awful , lacked flavour and was more Chinese than Thai⊠underwhelming. The restaurant was dirty and could do with a good clean. Was put at a table by the fire exit which was so filthy we asked to move. Glad I tried the restaurant before spending a small fortune on the rooms. Such a disappointment!
Most expensive afternoon tea
Most expensive afternoon tea, had the smallest amount of food, I've had many afternoon teas, I left feeling as hungry as I arrived. The staff are not very attentive, the decor is sleazy and very dark. I wouldn't recommend spending hard earned money here. £80 for 2 people to eat the equivalent of a meal deal from a supermarket.
Bad...life is too short to spend time in this place!
Went to the Crazy Bear Stadhamstead for their 12 course Thai Taster menu. This was mediocre at best with most of the food being cold Chinese cuts (not thai) of marinated meats.
2 of the 12 course taster menu were prawn crackers and crispy seaweed...yup...they called these courses!...they did include a pad thai dish which was so unspectacular that it might have been from a waitrose ready meal packet.
The service was also really poor.....this focused on hurrying us along and then trying to get us out of the restaurant (despite not having finished out drinks) so the table could be reused. I dont remember having this in any restaurant in the UK before.
This place is worth visiting simply to get a feel for how wrong a successful place can go.
Such a shame
Such a shame. We used to be massive fans of the crazy bear, great staff, great atmosphere great food. New ownership have reduced the menu to 5 options which doesnât cater for everyone, bathrooms FILTHY. Staff are clearly annoyed with it but doing their best, huge waste of money for a place we used to adore, would sadly never visit any time soon. 13.5% service charge - for what? No side options on the menus , chef said no to a side of greens or fries. Left hungry and over £80 out of pocket.
Sad to see the Fun has gone from the Crazy Bear
I have always been a big fan of The Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield and on so many special occasions enjoyed my experience with its wonderful ambiance, decor, and happy friendly staff. For example I had a birthday party there 15 years ago when it first opened which was amazing and have had so many wonderful nights there over the years.
I went there last night expecting the same. It was a family gathering for another special memorial event.
It was memorial but I am so sad to say for all the wrong reasons: We arrived an hour early to have pre dinner drinks and went into the lounge where we were seated. Our order was eventually taken just beers, no fancy cocktails or anything. We waited 40 minutes for the drinks to arrive and when they did the order was two beers short. When we pointed this out the young lady who delivered them was exceptionally rude and dismissive in front of everyone in the lounge stating it was not her fault the bar was not properly stocked. Her behaviour simply made me upset and want to leave but I had booked and with such a large group made the decision to try not to disappoint every one and stay. We ate and left. I left feedback with the manager at reception when asking for the service charge to be removed and including that we had intended to stay for the whole evening but for our experience - however he showed indifference.
The attention to detail the Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield was once recognised for has eroded away. Something is truly wrong with the staff in there.
Amazing business idea with disappointing lack of everything.
Booked one night Junior suite room with 3 course dinner for my hubbyâs birthday via Groupon. We arrived on Sunday the 3rd of March at 2pm. Sadly the check-in is very late (4pm) although we had the time to relax at the bar. When we arrived to the hotel we were a little confused as where was the car park - no signs and if we have used the main road entrance we would step to the bar. When we drove around the property we found a car park and found out the reception is located in old double decker red bus. We were welcomed with a smile and good manners. As we couldnât check in earlier we were invited to the bar. We have ordered dirty martini but they had no olive juice although bartender offered us vodka martini which was very nice. £15per tiny drink was a little bit pricey.
After that we went to the local farm shop where we also could see a lot of goats and lamas.
At 4pm we went back to the reception to check-in. Charlie was very kind and friendly (also prior to our visit we have exchanged many emails and she was very informative and prompt). After all check-in Charlie walked us to our room. We have stayed in room no.9 which is on the ground floor. Room is very dark, windows blinds cannot be fully shut, one of the windows couldnât be fully closed so when we wanted to use the bath tub in our bedroom it lacked privacy. We had Thai restaurant dinner booked for 7pm. We went to the bar earlier and had a drink. Hubby had a local pint and I had bison grass vodka with an apple juice which wasnât served for a 5star hotel standards. At the time of the dinner we were welcomed straight away and with the hand just pointed out where we could sit which would be expected to be taken to the table. 9 tables at the restaurant (5 taken) and 3 waiting staff. Waiting time to order drinks 15-20min and food no water offered. Another 15min for our drinks to be served. Food was ok, didnât wow us and I found it far too sweet. After dinner we went to our room where after sitting on the bed we started smelling mold. It was so strong and bothered us to the point where we lifted our mattress to discover that the bed base was with concrete floor, full of little guests trash, spider webs and the smell was killing. We ended up sleeping in medical face masks. Another thing which we discovered was under tv storage full of few years dust and webs. Next day morning we had continental breakfast which was fresh and nicely presented. I asked for a gluten free bread which waiting staff wasnât aware of but offered asking at the kitchen. 10min later we got our coffee and I asked if they have gf bread and been informed that itâs coming. Over 15min wait for bread which only proves that service is lousy especially when we were the only table. After our breakfast we went to check-out where we were asked about our stay. We have mentioned about our experience and Charlie said that they have new manager now and she would like us to speak to him. We were taken to the bar waiting a little while for manager to show up. Upon our request (not to speak in the front of other guests) we went to the Thai restaurant to talk. We have expressed our experience and disappointment. Conversation was very calm and friendly, manager Zach thanked us for the feedback and it seemed like he took it on board and would like to make some improvements. To rate our one night stay and first time experience, I would not give this place 5stars. Condition, lack of cleanliness, lack of maintenance (havenât mentioned but a lot of good quality items, furniture looks like not looked after, lack of attention to details, glasses stored on the bar with face up where everyone can cough or sneeze - later used for someone elseâs drinks etc). This place is unique with an amazing idea for stay which is not very common and gives excitement prior to visit. The owner can make this place more successful with a little touches and especially having high expectations toward the staff he is employing.
Crazy Bear = Nightmare!
Iâve had better service from the cafe at Doncaster North service station!! Went to Crazy Bear Beaconsfield for an early Motherâs Day lunch with my 87 year old Mother as I will be away on the actual day. To say it was disappointing is an understatement, more like abysmal! Ordered a bottle of water along with our food, didnât think it would be too long as it wasnât particularly busy but ended up having to ask for the water again. The girl serving eventually brought it over and whilst pouring it tipped it all over the table. Said she would be back to mop it up. 10 mins later when by that time it was dripping into my motherâs lap, we had to ask again for her to mop it up. The bottle of water, by the way, was warm and no offer of ice was made. Ordered the roast, one beef one lamb but had to pay £2 extra for a Yorkshire pudding to go with the lamb. Took 25 minutes to arrive even though not particularly busy. Had to ask for mint sauce and horseradish, no offer from the server, both arrived in a dish but no spoons so had to ask again! Actual roast was reasonably nice but nothing special. Decided to have a dessert, 2 x tiramisu. Again took a while which was surprising as nothing needed cooking or warming up. When it eventually arrived it was 4 rock hard sponge fingers with a drizzle of some kind of alcohol, creamy sauce over the top and a sprinkle of cocoa powder! The sponge fingers were so hard you couldnât cut them with a spoon, maybe a steak knife would have helped but weâd had enough by then and complained to the âmanagerâ. She asked if weâd like some fresh ones or something else but we decided not to bother. Never saw her again once she took them away, thought she might be back with an apology. Anyway I could go on but Iâm bored of the whole sorry experience. NEVER AGAIN!!
Do not go here
Do not go here! Not worth the money and the staff donât understand excellent customer service. Waiting 10 minutes to be seated at the Thai restaurant, then a further 50 minutes to get our drinks, by this point we already had our starters! Staff are just rude!
Do not waste your money
