So Dissapointing!
The food was nice however...The cost did not reflect the service at all. Drinks were dumped on the table and not poured. I had to call the waitress over to order, get jam for the afternoon tea we had, and also had to get up and find someone to pay, I also bought a cake and candles for my friends birthday that never appeared. when I asked for the remaining cakes to be put in a doggy bag, she dumped the boxes on the table for us to do. For the amount of money they charge the service should be 5 star. Ive had better service in a cafe. The staff were just not interested at all !

I got given a gift voucher from work in Dec 2024 to be used by Dec 2025, I had to go away with work for 8 months and didn’t get back until Oct 25. Four of us went to the restaurant early December and were told it’s fine to use the voucher, after we ordered and our food came out the said they couldn’t accept the voucher in December but if I emailed they could renew the voucher and I was told I could use it at a later date. The food was great, as always so was looking forward to going again.

I emailed the vouchers team as asked and didn’t get a response (still haven’t) and nobody seems to ever pick up the phone. I finally got through to their other establishment in Beaconsfield and they told me to email them directly as they understood my case.

I emailed as requested and got a response saying as I didn’t use it in the time frame there was no way they could help me out, I explained again how I was out of country from Jan-Oct and wasn’t allowed use it in Dec due their policy but was told still threes nothing to be done.

Really upsetting as it a restaurant my friends and I love to visit several times a year but fear we won’t be anymore.

Extremely Disappointing – Has Seriously Gone Downhill

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our stay at Crazy Bear Beaconsfield was genuinely disappointing from start to finish.

First and foremost, the door in our room leading outside did not lock. That is a basic safety issue and completely unacceptable for a hotel charging premium rates.

The bath was another shambles. The dial to turn it on kept falling off in your hand, and there was only one temperature setting – scalding hot. We literally had to empty the room bin and use it to carry cold water just to make the bath usable. That alone tells you everything about the level of maintenance.

The lack of upkeep continued throughout the room – none of the blind cords worked properly, which again points to poor maintenance and zero attention to detail.

To add insult to injury, we asked about purchasing the house red wine and were told the “house” bottle was £49. Considering the number of maintenance issues in the room, that felt wildly overpriced and out of touch.

Breakfast was included in our booking, yet we were initially charged for it and had to query it before it was removed. An apology was given, but it just summed up the experience – disorganised and poorly managed.

Sadly, this place has gone downhill. What once felt edgy and exclusive now feels more like Benidorm on steroids. If you’re looking for a one-night novelty stay in a gothic-style room, you might get some value from it. But if you’re expecting quality, service, and standards that match the price tag, you’ll be very disappointed.

Would not return.

Having stayed at 5 star hotel and resorts around the world I can categorically state that this is NOT a 5 star venue.
The USP is valid, yes: its different, boutique, unexpected but there is lots of room for improvement.
Correspondance is over the top, I received up to 10 emails and 3 texts prior to the visit, some of these asking me to check in online repeatedly, which is both unnecessary and time consuming. At one point a text was sent from “CBB” (?) confirming the restaurant booking, the booking details were wrong, (wrong date) and I had to ring the venue to confirm that it was indeed from them, and to correct the mistake.
We found parking to be chaotic and difficult and had a lengthy walk to the hotel in the freezing cold. Reception was welcoming and proficient and the receptionist took us through the venue to our room explaining some of the features and location of the restaurants etc. She was thorough, but talked very fast without facing us so was hard to hear and understand, very scripted and not natural nor warm.
The one thing that we wish had been explained and wasn’t is the lighting controls, we found them confusing and difficult.
The bed was very comfortable but the décor a little tired, many broken tiles and some fixtures hanging loosely off the walls, one bedside lamp had a broken/intermittent connection at the plug which is of course dangerous as well as annoying.
The lack of door on the adjoining bathroom (a curtain is provided) is disconcerting, effects privacy and means that if visiting in the middle of the night the automatic bathroom light (no switch) illuminates the bedroom, even with the curtain closed.
The restaurant at dinner was mostly very good, food was good but the set menu limited and service was professional, courteous, genuine, thoughtful and attentive. But, please don’t sit couples so close together when the restaurant is empty.
Breakfast was less inspiring, the entrance to the breakfast area is cramped and people waiting to be seated were in the way of guests leaving. Service was slow and a few things forgotten. Servers were friendly and polite but unable to manage the number of guests effectively.
As a final note, I received another email after the visit, asking for feedback. This was from a no-reply email and had no link to a page to write feedback. Hence I have ended here after a web search

Hotel is perfect. Came for our anniversary and our room was amazing. Staff are really on the ball and nothing is too much trouble. Only downside was the road out the front where cars were using it as a racetrack all night (though obviously this is out of the hotels control and it won’t stop us returning)

I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with Nicole at the Crazy Bear Beaconsfield. Although we haven't stayed there yet, she has been absolutely exceptional in helping us plan our visit.

Nicole has gone above and beyond in assisting with our bookings for a massage, dinner, and afternoon cocktails. Her recommendations for local attractions and the village of Beaconsfield have been incredibly helpful, making us even more excited for our upcoming stay.

Her friendly and informative service over the phone has truly made the booking process a pleasure. I can’t wait to experience everything in person, and I’m confident that our stay will be just as fantastic as the planning has been!

The Dubai-inspired afternoon tea at Crazy Bear was a complete let down. The service was terrible as staff weren’t attentive at all, we had to flag them down just to order and then again for the bill, which took so long we ended up standing up to get someone’s attention.

For £36 per person it’s a total rip-off. We got just four small sandwiches and the rest was all dessert with no option for more, nothing to balance it out. Most afternoon teas give you unlimited sandwiches, so this felt really stingy and cheap. The whole experience was poor, and we left after just 30–40 minutes because it was honestly not worth staying any longer.

Don’t waste your money here – there are far better afternoon teas out there

I don't normally leave reviews but we were so disappointed in this place, felt the need to let others know. Everything about this place is wrong, I am sure 20 years ago when it opened it was good but clever marketing has given this place bookings without need for investment in service and quality.

Receptionist was not interested in being there, clearly hated her job being front of house just gave instant negative feeling. greeted us with "Surname please" on Friday afternoon then showed us outside the hotel and across the main road to a guest house where our small tiny room waited. Shower kept going hot and cold and the power to the room shut off at 10.30am, I didn’t even bother with a shower. if you want to use the pool you will end up walking across the main road with dressing gown on. (no slippers provided)

Main English restaurant was totally unorganised; head waiter was nice enough but just simply kept forgetting everyone’s request around us and including our own.
outdoor area is tatty and guttering etc falling down around the pool area. Signs of building work going on. Honestly i have wanted to visit this place for years and really thought Friday night would have been good but was so deflated with everything. Bill on check out was totally wrong, it had dinner on there 3 times. got there in the end, couldn’t get a copy of the bill so was promised an email of it. that never arrived still now.

This place looks like its had no investment to it since opening in 2008.. its well out of date for the money and I won't visiting again.

First time visit to The Crazy Bear Beaconsfield. Very welcoming. Waitress very attentive. Food was fabulous full of lovely flavours and hot. Wasn't rushed and beautiful setting to sit back and relax in comfort.Would recommend. The Chef clearly has a passion for food and cooks with love. Will definitely be back. Thank you .🙏

Please don't book a hot air balloon ride with this company, it's an absolute scam. Been trying for over 2 years now to actually go on it and every time we re-book we get a different excuse... too windy, not enough wind, too hot, too cold. You're not entitled to a refund and they've had over £400 of our money now with no sign of it coming back and no sign of a hot air balloon flight in sight.

Please book with another company if you're seriously looking at booking a hot air balloon ride and don't waste your money with these guys unless you love throwing money around for fun.

AVOID! Fraudulent unauthorised payments will be taken from you card.

I’ve had to open investigations with my bank and the police for fraudulence at this hotel and theft, they take a £150 pre authorisation when you check in. As a deposit which is always meant to never be charged, however they charged it hoping I wouldn’t notice, what’s even stranger is a contactless payment was also charged the following day when I WAS NOT EVEN THERE. Apparently this is very common with crazy bear and a lot of others have had this happen too.

Honestly don’t stay here, not an honest hotel chain at all. And definitely something fishy going on when it comes to taking payments from you that you did not consent to.

Poorly lit rooms, safety hazard. Overpriced. Save your money and go somewhere nice with a reputable hotel chain.

What a shame!! Not what it used to be. The place was dead on a Saturday evening and the bar staff are rude and do not want you to be there. So disappointing!! Ridiculously expensive for what you get. Who now owns this place??The staff are left to do whatever they want, so unprofessional!!

Awful! Had a staff member help themselves to our room at 11pm. Staff on site apologies but this wasn’t enough. We needed an explanation. Contacted head office via email and they said “we must have had a few too many cocktails” and we don’t even drink alcohol!

My eve started with 2 friends which always difficult to get a night out together? Arrived and we had super starter! But then I was served a £24 burger that was raw and not hot? Sent back and told nicely 5 to 10 mins? 30 mins later after both friends finished and plates cleared I was served the crispiest burger! Completely burnt!

Great food, but ruined by the waiter in the Thai restaurant.
We had been there about an hour when the waiter delivered plate 9 of our 12 plate taster menu and said "Just to let you know, we will be needing the table back in around 15 minutes".
I noticed there was a group of people on the table in the corner which had been there well before we got there, yet I did not see the waiter say the same thing to them.
Have been a few times but I won't bother in the future. Spent well over £160 for that kind of treatment, no thanks.

We booked the hunting lodge for my Sten do for 15 people for June 20th and paid £250 upfront to secure the booking. Today i received an email (not a phonecall as you would expect) cancelling my booking due to some exciting new changes happening at the Crazy Bear, encouraging me to book at the Stadhampton Crazy Bear instead! My guests have all paid me upfront, at £65 pp and 6 out of the 15 guests,including us have paid and booked for our room at the hotel so we can stay overnight. The other guests have already paid and secured their accommodation at a local hotel near by.
When i phone Saayna (the events manager at Beaconsfield), within minutes of receiving her email, she did not answer. My partner phoned the hotel (they actually answered for once, when previously, they have been literally impossible to contact via phone and email) We spoke to a very rude mannered lady, who had an awful attitude and was extremely abrupt. Her answer to everything was 'i can not help you, this is out of my hands' When i asked for a manager to contact me, she told me everyone was busy and that Saayna was in a meeting and she would ask her to ring me. I made it clear i was extremely upset and annoyed and that all my guests between them had spent over £1000 on food and accomodation prior to coming and that Stadhampton was not an option for us.
As parents of 5 children and our first night away in 8 years, our wedding fast approaching & the Crazy Bear that has been something on our bucket list, we are just absolutely mortified and horrified by the fact that they can do this to us.
Its now been 5 hours since Saayna emailed me and she hasn't even bothered to ring me. Must be a very long meeting!!!!
When i spoke to the receptionist who was far from sympathetic, i asked her what the maximum number they can accomodate at a table in the restaurant was? She told me 10. Why they couldn't offer us a table of 10 and a table next to that of 5 & my refund of £250 for the private function room, is beyond me!
Why she felt that she could break the news via email is also totally unprofessional, considering the money we have all put into this.

Disappointing Stay at The Crazy Bear Beaconsfield - Not Worth the Price !

I recently stayed at The Crazy Bear Beaconsfield in Room 30 (which is one of their "descendant' rooms) from 10/02/2025 to 11/02/2025, and unfortunately, my experience was far below expectations, especially considering the price paid.

Firstly, the room had several issues that should have been addressed prior to my arrival. The blinds were broken, which not only compromised privacy but also affected the overall comfort of the room. The lighting was also problematic—despite my efforts, I couldn’t turn off all the lights, making it very difficult to sleep.

Service throughout the hotel was subpar. Staff appeared inattentive and unhelpful, and this lack of service only added to the disappointment. More concerning was a serious health risk I encountered: I had notified the restaurant not once but TWICE about my nut allergy in advance, yet I was served broccoli with almonds on top, which was not mentioned on the menu. This careless oversight could have had severe consequences and speaks to a lack of attention to guest safety.

Additionally, the TV in the room wasn’t functioning correctly, and had difficulties connecting to the Wi-Fi. I reported the issue, and although someone came to check, I was assured that follow-up support would be provided—this never happened.

For the price, I expected far better service and a higher standard of accommodation. The numerous issues I faced during my stay significantly impacted my overall experience, and I am left disappointed by the lack of attention to detail and poor customer service.

I also e-mailed the general manager about these issues over a week ago & still no response. I will now be taking this further.

Would NOT recommend & will NEVER return.

Hugely overpriced. Thai food was ok but at those prices you expect it to be exceptional and it was at most average. The service was non existent. Again for those prices you would expect gold plated service as it is automatically charged on the bill. The decor at the restaurant makes you feel you are in a padded cell. In all lots of show and no substance. Disappointed.

This night away was night for a gift for my husbands birthday.
On arrival the room wasn't ready so they have us a free drink while we waited.
Should've been in by 3 but was 3.40.. not too much to moan about tho.
Three room we was given was round the back by the car park.
When we got in it was freeeeeeezing and no amount of turning up the thermostat worked...we called reception and we were moved to another 'better' room... this was mildly warmer but still cold...but warmer than the last...we were told not to use the bathtub as the hot water didn't work in it... only just found out my daughter thought she paid for a room with bath... the first room didn't have one at all.... we didn't know what was booked until we spoke to her on return.
The rooms are so dark how on earth a lady is meant to do hair and face i do not know, I tried... there in no dressing table only mirror inside dark wardrobe, not near a plug socket for straightners if you wish to use.
The leather look floor didn't help with the cold either....
The toilet seat was broken and moved when sat on.. and yellow around the rim under it... the flush didn't work on one side... the bathroom was dirty... the fan was full of dust..it needs re vamping... the mirror opened and I thought was a cupboard but was a lot of wires hanging down so I pushed back and closed it....
Now.. the hairdryer was so twisted that the outer cable was split showing the wires in side...I took photos of all of this as I intend to get some sort of refund.
We had to sleep in the towelling dressing gowns all night to keep warm although the fan was on you had to touch it to gel if warm or not.
Woke up with headache due to this.
I was looking forward to coming here but would never return.
The Thai 12 course taster was ok... but not what I would call taste menu.. more like starter main and ice cream...mediocre
This was also a gift so expected topay nothing but was given a service charge bill of 25..
I would've come home that night but it was a 2 hour drive.
The staff were very helpful and polite.
The swimming pool was 12° so couldn't use and the bar areas very drafty....
Definitely a no from me.
4 in a bed would have a field day here....£325, one night no breakfast...
And not even a biscuit in the room.
