So I was disappointed till today.
Could not get my Esrtp4 controller to work in any way. Tried to watch the onsite video...
but as any help it was a no go.
Called up ESI in frustration...
They called back and asked my situation.
Emlyn was the the name of the tech..
Explained everything and had me sorted in a sec..

Got an ESI heating system with our house and it is working _mostly_ as it should.
However, the thermostat controlling the bedrooms is incorrectly placed, on a wall adjacent to the boiler room, picking up heat readings from said room, rendering bedroom temperature control impossible. As a result, the kids rooms are always cold.
I decided to go for a smart thermostat, landed on Tado.
Round 1: asked a heating expert to check and install the new Tado system, that is compatible with most manufacturers. When he saw the ESI controls, he said they can't do it, it had to be replaced completely.
Round 2: I decided to give a good read to the Tado manuals. Realised it is _so simple_ to install, all I need is to install it as a switch in the control line to one of the valves. I need to cut one of those cables so I wanted to play it safe and get a spare just to be safe. However, the ESI cables have custom connectors, can't buy them online. Contacted ESI, they responded that they don't make/sell cables by themselves, I'd need to buy a valve.
As the valves are fine, I asked them to help me with information on where to buy the connectors. In response, they kept repeating they don't make or sell them, as if they haven't even read the question.
I understand they try to protect their market by offering bundles for more money, but I don't hink it is the correct approach. At least it is making me not even consider them in the future.
I'm considering throwing it all out, rather than upgrading it.

I have to award ESi Controls a five star review rating. On Monday December 11 2023 I decided to replace my two ESi programmable central heating thermostats with two ESi WiFi enabled programmable central heating thermostats model type . I wanted to do this to reduce my energy use and to allow me to control my central heating system when I’m away from home. The service and support that I have received from Steven Nicholson the ESi Scotland Area Manager and Emlyn Vargas the ESi Technical Manager in ensuring that I have the right product has been exceptional. This afternoon, Thursday December 14 2023, I picked up the new thermostats from the ESi local distributor (City Plumbing of Livingston who also provided me with exceptional support from Scott Craig) I’ve downloaded the ESi Centro IOS app, installed the new thermostats myself and connected them to the app. A very simple and straightforward process. I now have total control of my central heating system both at home and when I’m away from home. My sincere thanks to the teams at ESi and City Plumbing Livingston.

Customer service is terrible, had my so thermostat x2 since May this year and suddenly decided not to work anymore.
Phoned them up told me I had to go through the person that fitted it, they’ve said I don’t. In the mean time this close to Christmas no heating or hot water.
One child with asthma in the house one pensioner and another not well so thanks for nothing I would never recommend your product or service

Got an ESRTP4RF, room thermostat as part of my new gas boiler package
The default cut off temperature is 21 degrees; far too high, the house is like a sauna. For the life of me I can’t figure out a way to adjust this. I looked at the on line instructions, they are frightening, there’s no way I’m going in there!
All I can do is adjust it manually; but of course, it defaults back when the next programme cuts in. Why do you have to make this so complicated?

I’ve just bought the series 6 WiFi model…… my gas fitter fitted it and we set it up for WiFi and phone app use …… it was a very quick job for him and so far it’s worked extremely well … very leased

Absolute garbage. The most complicated system you could ever have. Literally the need the instruction book every time you want to do anything and then it just completely freezes on certain setting so you have to reset the thing again and start again. Don't lose the instruction manual whatever you do. Terrible design I have no idea what these clowns were thinking when they decided this was acceptable to put in people's houses.

Just had a new boiler with a new ESI RF programmable Room Stat, fitter explained briefly how to use it and left it on manual, thought Id read and set programme after he's gone, big mistake, couldnt read the numbers on the diagram legend, so with a magnifying glass I tried but couldnt, for the TPI application I couldnt find any way to set it, it just tells me what it does. Ask for bigger print and got sent 27 pages to print off, and still no help with the diagram legend, sent another email and got told to talk to my fitter, no apolagies for numbers to small to read or offer of help, very bad customer relations. There is no way anybody could remeber a full tutorial of this programmer on instalation.

I got it at my local plumbing suppliers after other positive reviews. I am a novice DIYer so had a few fitting issues but once I`d got the wiring right the unit worked straight away without and annoying pairing. It was also the best value unit available and the build quality is very good.

Contact ESI technical support to guide the electrician on a fault finding on the S-plan wiring, electrician has foreign accent asked a few questions on the wiring then the advisor turned around to the electrician and said you need to get an electrician out and hang up. Disgusting behaviour just cause you sit behind a computer does not mean you can pass judgement on who is qualified or not. Tried to raise a complaint ot a ask about the complaint procedure and was told to send an email and again the customer service lady hang up. I would rather spend more money on Honeywell stats from now on.

A very helpful company, which supplies very well made affordable heating controls. Customer service and technical support can not be beaten..

I can only write a honest review. Got a new build with two thermostats. So when I want to change the temperature one or the other is always offline. Rarely can I set them both. I'm always switching between 5gh and 2.4gh to try and get the thermostats online. Its early days but I wouldn't recommend this product. However if this issue was fixed I may start to enjoy this app and thermostat but right now its quite frustrating. ( seems to work on my wife's phone but on my phone, constantly one thermostat is offline.)

Never responded to my email regarding a blown esi unit after 12 months use.
We had to have a new one installed at our own cost.
Warranty appears to be worthless.

Recently an engineer installed and ESI controller for me. It didn't work and my heart sank. I called the technical support team (fully expecting it to lead nowhere) and was promptly called back by a team member called Emlyn. He very very quickly not only identified what was wrong but was able to talk me through fixing it myself over the phone. Saved me a fortune on calling back the engineer who had installed it wrong and got our heating working properly. I didn't know much about ESI prior to this but the level of help and service was so good I will stay with this brand for the long term! Thanks again Emlyn.

Emlyn Vargas has been extremely helpful when we encountered problems following an upgrade to a smart thermostat. He has been so patient and worked with me to eliminate any obvious ‘operator error’ issues until we discovered where the problem originated. Now it’s sorted it is working beautifully.

The thermostat was installed and working well until I decided to set the Legionella Override to operate once every 7 days, at the end of the process I released the holiday button but the display failed to come back on. Have tried holding the holiday button on for a few seconds as suggested by ESi support, powering the unit on/off but the unit is non responsive. With something as important as hot water I need a product that is reliable.
UPDATE: Replacement received, will post progress when installed.

Thank you to Emlyn for his patience and understanding in resolving the issue with my thermostat. He went above and beyond to solve a problem that I had been struggling with for weeks. Absolutely outstanding customer service. Thank you Emlyn.

Emlyn, the guy on the phone couldn't have been more helpful. He was so patient and kind, waiting for me to get a stepladder and configure things. This is the second time he's done this. Can't rate their customer service more highly. Thank you Emlyn!

I'm a customer service manager and the CS from you guys - namely, Emlyn - has been first class!

I was struggling to use the programmer control and requested a call back. The person I spoke with on the phone initially was courteous and within a few minutes of leaving a message (and whilst watching one of your video guides), I received a call from Emlyn who patiently talked me through the set-up process.

Unfortunately, our heating remained on even though outside of the set hours, so after I called back and left a message regarding this further problem, Emlyn again swiftly called me back and patiently and expertly talked me through lots of trouble-shooting, where it transpired one of the Actuators was faulty, so Emlyn provided the part number for a replacement.

What a credit to your team he is! WELL DONE EMLYN & TEAM :)

Struggled with Esi control rtp6c in a newly built property. Have two of them one controls upsatirs, the other controls downstairs. Had very difficult time making the thermostats work as I need. They did not respond to what I tried to do.
I later found with trial and error that hey were installed incorrectly. The one down stairs controlling upstairs and vice versa. So this created the difficulty in the beginning.
Now I knew what is the problem, I am back in control but still need and electrician to reconnect them correctly. It turned out to be no fault of ESI control thermostats.
