Ordered a set of shifters but out of stock, received call fro Michael almost immediately, totally honest conversation and ended up purchasing shifters and front and rear mechs slightly different to my original thoughts, without honest advice may well have made an error!
Parcel arrived well packaged a day earlier than promised! Highly recommended and will now ensure all kit ordered from Michael at freeborn.

I placed my order on 2nd of May and they said to wait for link to track order once the package is ship.... Waited and I didn't receive any email, so I email to asked on 4th of May got a reply tell me the product will be despatched in the next few days due to bank holiday so I waited again and now it's the 7th still no sign of any email and I'm leaving the country on the 11th hoping that I will receive the product in time.

Just picked up a new carbon Devenci Troy from the couriers and am really pleased. Service over the phone and email was great, good price and also knowledgeable. The bike arrived packed and wrapped exceptionally well, which is hugely important when you're spending decent amounts. Plus it's been put together expertly - so many times now I've bought bikes and then had to start re-putting the things back together in a better fashion at home. Not so with Freeborn - clearly these guys know what they are doing.
APC deliveries were also quite helpful.

I used the price compare service, which Freeborn Cycles matched within 24 hours even though the other company was out of stock in my size. ordered and received the item next day. Outstanding service. Thank you. Will use again.

Bought the Thule Easybase and bag system. I was concerned about receiving the product in time for a family holiday. I spoke to a CSR who quickly informed me that the items were available. I bought on Thursday evening. I had a call from the CSR team telling me that due to cost, for security the delivery address needed to be the same as the billing address. No big deal and TBH, demonstrates that the company takes security seriously. Item was despatched on Monday, tracking no provided and delivered Tuesday. All well in time for the holiday. On top of all that efficient and speedy service, it was also a few quid cheaper than other online retailers. Good job done Freeborn.

If you have a full time job buy elsewhere!

This store will only delivery to the card holders address and the courier they use has very few depots. They are completely missing the main concept of online purchasing, convenience!

Thankfully the courer they used was a lot more accommodating and helpful than they were and I managed to avoid an 80 mile drive to the depot or taking time off work.

I can also appreciate why previous reviewers have said they are rude, the online sales assistant was very abrupt and generally lacking in customer good service skills.

Please, if you insist on having this ridiculous delivery policy at very least can you consider using the Royal Mail so your customers can collect from their local post office at their convenience.

I can't recommend purchasing from this company, they managed to make a simple purchase turned into a hassle.

I cycle a fair bit, and therefore regularly require bits and pieces.

Living in the Horsham area, I support the local bike shops as I would hate it if any of them were to close.

Recently I visited Freeborn with a view to buy a few things and maybe look at a bike for my Girlfriend, however I was met by a very rude sales assistant, which in an age of increasing internet sales if found quite shocking.

In future I will continue supporting the other bike shops in the area, some much smaller, but with great service.

Saw a great deal on a 2014 specialized enduro on their web site but sent them an email to see if it was available first before ordering online. It was so placed my order. They got back to me after a day saying that they had taken the bike for a small test ride around their shop and noticed a creaking from the rear end so rather than sending it to me, requested a replacement rear end from specialized. They did not have one so Freeborn upgraded me to the current model of that particular bike.

Communication throughout was very good.

I had an almost identical experience to Jasonr. I was looking for a bike as a birthday present for my son. I ordered a special offer clearance bike, that it turns out they did not have in stock - their website said it was in stock. They offered instead a Genesis Croix de Fer 10 at a price that was too good to be true. And it turned out to be just that.

In my experience, if you order online from Freeborn:
1) The product won't actually be dispatched
2) They will never contact you with an update.
3) When you contact them to find out if anything is happening, they will always assure you with a fresh delivery date
4) If you complain about your experience, Freeborn will alternately say "well my colleagues should not have made that promise" or "its is not our fault at all"
5) If you provide advice or recommendations - in good faith - on how to improve their service, they will try and argue with you, and shout you down.

Arrogant. Rude.

They did refund (though I am not yet clear whether this has gone through properly). However, their bank has been holding on to £800 of cash, for sales they are not able to honour.

Having read mixed reviews about Freeborn before placing my order, I feel compelled to write this review to offer my experience.

I emailed Freeborn on Boxing Day to check the availability and delivery time of a Garmin 920xt and received their response early the following morning, confirming that the item was in stock and that if I was to order in the next couple of days, the item would be with me by the 31 Dec.

As it happened, it was delivered by overnight courier (free of charge) a day earlier than expected and I was kept up to date by emails and the status of my online account (and the courier's online tracking service once it had been despatched).

The price was significantly cheaper than Garmin list price or the price offered by the likes of Wiggle and I was delighted by Freeborn's communication, speed of despatch and online tracking tools. I would order from them again with no hesitation.

Ordered 2 pairs of tights on Wednesday morning. Since I have not received a dispatch confirmation nor any other firm if communication I called the shop on Sunday to find out where they are. But no help was offered instead told to check my online account( with a tone like: why on earth are you calling us check your online account!). When I did it said my order had been cancelled. Rang back the shop and the 'polite'' guy on the phone implied I was lying as there was s note on my account saying that a member of staff had called me and informed me about the cancellation. Awful customer service.

Purchased a Genesis bike and was told that they expected stock on 17.11.2014. Called back on 20.11.2014 to find that the bike would not be in stock until 18.12.2014 and they hoped they would be able to deliver before christmas. I advised that I was not happy and wanted a refund I was told that every shop would have the same issue and was arrogantly asked if I had seen the film mission impossble finding this bike anywhere in the UK would be harder thant that. Within a couple of minutes I had found a bike in stock and cancelled my order.
To be fair they refunded me without issue (thats why two stars rather than one) but is really frustrating if there is a problem or a delay with an order please inform the customer and you will probably find that they are OK about it however there is nothing more infuriating than having to chase up and then find out there is an issue

I bought a bike through Freeborn, and was a bit apprehensive so I emailed the store before placing my order, to check stock availability and price. Received an email back the next day confirming that the bike was in stock and that it could be with me in a few days. I ordered it through the web site which I found really easy to navigate, got the email confirmation of my order and then had a further email a couple of days later telling me it was on its way, It promptly turned up the next day. I would have no hesitation in ordering more goods from Freeborn and would recommend this company.

I ordered a frame and fork from freeborn, the next day I got a phone call saying that the fork wont be available until November which was fair enough so I cancelled them and purchased else where but it bewilders me as to why they are allowed to take my money for something they obviously dont have.
After 3 days I checked the website and saw my frame hadnt been dispatched yet so I phoned them, got a very arrogant person on the phone who insisted that the frame was there and waiting to be collected by the courier which was great.
End of the next day still not dispatched so I rang them and got a different person who told me that they dont actually have the frame in stock and that they are waiting for it to come from the manufacturer. So again they took my money for something they didn't even have. They told me the frame would be there today and they would dispatch today.
End of the next day and still hadnt been dispatched so again I called them and they told me the same thing. I then waitied over the weekend and still not dispatched.
So today I rang a different shop who had the frame waiting to be dispatched who also told me that freeborn are terrible, so i rang and cancelled with freeborn and they couldnt really care less.
Never again....

ordered a bike over the phone with guys a freeborne as shop is not local..
had a couple of issues, but the guys went above what could be expected to make sure the issues were resolved speediliy and that i was 100% satisfied..
brillant customer care and service.. thanks guys..
you have customer for life here..

I was a little put off by the fact the web site says that buyers should contact to check price and availability, and that they may not be able to honour the prices advertised. For the item I wanted, it was about 20% cheaper than the cheapest bike shop I'd bought from previously so I thought it was worth a try. I emailed them in the evening, and was pleased to get a reply first thing the next morning. I placed the order, and the item arrived quickly and as expected.
It's a bit strange asking buyers to check prices first - and it must put a lot of people off - but for the money it saved me was well worth the effort.

I bought a new helmet with Freeborn which they emailed to say they were out of stock. I was then sent the newer model of the helmet and it arrived within 2 days of the correspondence

Poor attitude on the telephone, and an even cockier one in the shop.
What is the point of a web site which a. does not show their stock and b. has a line at the bottom of each page stating that "We might not be able to supply this advertised product at the stated price"

So basically you get what is in their showroom (actually, for showroom read "outside"). Add that to the arrogance and cockiness of the person I spoke to and the result is that another shop will get my £600.

We have just recieved our latest quota of bikes for our school outdoor education department at Bowden house in seaford. This is the third time we have got bikes from freeborn in 5 years 20 bikes in total and each time we have ordered bikes Freeborn have been fantastically accomodating to our needs as we are a school with difficult students. They have given our boys freedom to look around the shop, ask questions and even test ride some of their top in bikes which are worth more than my car.
The after care has also been great, giving us maintenaince advice, spare parts and advice on local riding locaations new places to go.
I would and have recommended them to other education orgaisations and outdoor centres around the area as a well run local buisness that is able to deliver high quality service, advice and products ideal for centers and schools, as well as being able to source stock quickly and you would do well do find better prices.
