This is an update to my first positive review below. Bought 2ND pair of Geler Atlantis and sole on one shoe has come half off, lasted less than six months. Probably due to leather shrinkage. Although same name as previous pair was slightly cosmetically different. Going for different brand this time.

I bought Gelert Atlantis full leather boots 2.5 years ago from sports direct, shipped to Australia. Wasn't expecting much for price but I still have them, used as work boot mostly, gardening and yard work on bitumen and dirt. Little bit of hiking as well. These boots have stood up very well, the sole is starting to wear a bit thin now so ordered another pair from ozsale for $70 aud. Yesterday boots were muddy so hosed them with jet spray - no leaks. Besides sole wear only the top of the rubber toe cap a little separated from leather but still waterproof. These are under rated boots for the price. I can't comment on the other shoes but the Atlantis are very well made.

Worst pair of shoes I’ve ever bought!
They leaked all through the soles and my feet were absolutely saturated wet! The shoes are less than a year old!
Customer service are pathetic and very unprofessional!
Do yourself a favour, don’t buy this brand!

Bought a pair of ottawa mid mens walking boots, from sports direct, it's hard to explain how bad they are, the first contact with any water, with me it was wet grass, it comes straight through the boot, who makes a boot that isn't even slightly waterproof? Took 3 days to dry them and by then they'd gone moldy and stank! Avoid

I have had these trainers for about 3 months, I have barely worn them and the tread on the underneath has worn away and the sides have ripped open, they are a uncomfortable to walk in, I had to huy an insole within a month. what a poor trainer, I can't believe that a big company like sports direct would have such garbage for sale, I thought a 50% reduction in price was a great deal, I feel a fool. Don't give these a second of your time.

After only two months the Gelert Horizon boots have utterly failed. They are not worth the effort taken to carry them home. DO NOT PURCHASE! Probably better to wrap your feet in old newspaper.

Only 4 months old and practically no wear both soles soak water in like a sponge. Sold by Sports Direct as being extra water resistant. Absolutely useless rubbish. Got refund with no questions asked so they must be used to people returning them. Avoid like the plague.

Hole. In both heels exposing hollow heel after 3 months of light use.
Utter rubbish, very disappointed

Brought a pair of horizon waterproof walking shoes. After about 2 months of light use one of the soles has fallen apart under the heel and there is a surprising amount of wear to the rest of the sole. After the first rain in months, the sole acts like a sponge and my sock with the damaged sole gets soaked. The other shoe just plain leaks, with no visible damage. Emailed customer services and they've refused to help on the basis that I've lost the receipt - I've had them such a short time that I've still got the box! AVOID THESE SHOES AT ALL COSTS; others in their range may be better, but I have no plans on buying any to find out! I will be buying my regular shoes next time!

I wish I read these reviews before buying them....specifically wanted WATERPROOF which they are not.....not even water resistant! Also got a hole in sole after only 6 weeks of wearing them.

Crap the soles are way too flexible for hiking shoe and the soles are now ripped. I would never buy them again

After purchasing a pair of brand new Gelert boots 3 months ago from Sports Direct, I found that they had utterly failed in their waterproofing under mild rain conditions. After wearing an alternative brand for years, I decided to give Gelert a chance, and specifically chose 'waterproof' black boots for work. I threw away the box and receipt after owning the boots for a couple weeks (standard procedure for me, thinking if they haven't failed within that time, they will surely last). But when they did fail in a moderate rain, I took my boots off when I arrived at my place of work to find a line halfway up both my socks; only the bottom half of the boots had let water in, which meant water definitely didn't flow over the top (not that I suspected it had). I was very disappointed, and I am now currently wearing my old boots which are worn down (but still haven't failed). I gave Gelert the additional courtesy chance of righting their wrong by contacting them to explain the defect and emailed them pictures, which they have since ignored, which is why I'm now writing this review to warn anybody considering buying Gelert boots; beware of their utterly rubbish quality. My boots lasted 3 months, with very light usage. Enough said.

Bought a pair of gelert boots from sports direct. Can't believe they're leaking water after a few weeks use. How can they get away with such poor quality?!

I purchased a pair of gelert walkimg boots and after just 2 weeks where letting water in.
As I liked the boot for comfort I purchased another pair and the same thing has happened! I've literally worn these boots a handful of times and water leaking in the right boot 😡😡

Bought a pair of Gelert waterproof shoes about four weeks ago for work, the worst purchase I have ever made, soles of shoes retain water in them and also the uppers so if they get even a little bit wet they hold the water in and keep your feet wet all day, so they certainly aren't waterproof as advertised and soles are so soft they hurt your feet walking over any rough surfaces, so not much use for hill walking, avoid these shoes at all costs, expected much more from this well known company

Have had a pair of Ottawa Ladies Low Walking boots for 21 days and have only used them to walk along nearby lanes and roads. I'm 60+ yrs old and have NOT mistreated them but already the sole is disintegrating and letting water in. These boots are not fit for purpose.......and Gelerty charge £50 for them!!

Bought a new pair of Gelert Ottawa low ladies walking shoes, worn 4 times, fifth time it was raining when i walked the dogs(not Hard) and they failed completely, wet feet.
Do not buy these shoes if you intend to be out in the wet (u.k weather??)
Why are they classed as walking shoes when our weather changes in a blink of the eye.
Stay away unless you will be on a walking holiday somewhere sunny and dry.
Sports direct refused to exchange or refund because it doesn't state on the box 'waterproof' but the men's are waterproof....duhhhh!!
What a crap company, and cant comprehend what my gender has to do with a shoe being waterproof or NOT

Having read the other reviews I did wonder if I had done the right thing in buying these walking shoes.. But at £22 a pair they seemed a bargain..
So how have I got on..
Well I have walked on tarmac some 180 miles since buying them six weeks ago. They feel light and comfortable on my feet and with a decent pair of socks very warm also... They are a really good fit...I have quite a broad foot.
At the price I didn't have the highest expectations but these shoes have vastly exceeded that. I don't expect them to last for too long so I bought another two pairs... But the original pair still look very good There are no issues what so ever with the upper structure of the shoe which is very well made. There is some signs of wear on the sole which is to be expected...Saying that it is not significant.
Your choice 3 x pairs of these for £66 quid or maybe one pair of a better known brand. I'll stick with the three... As for Sports Direct.. No problems with the orders or the level of service...

Bought Gelert Ottawa Low Ladies Walking Shoes from Sports Direct. Within 6 months they were leaking and the sole support had collapsed exposing a piece of metal underneath the inner sole. I will not be buying Gelert again. Neither Sports Direct nor Gelert would pay a refund of any kind.
