Ordered a ladder for a contractor to use. Ladder turned up and was not as described, being 5ft too short, driver started making all kinds of excuses and told me how I could get over the problem, he totally ignored the fact he provided the wrong item and I had a contractor waiting, ladder was taken away, was advised that replacement was on the way, was called shortly after that it wasn't available, so I was left high and dry, no ladder, contractor wanting to work, now I've got to find another solution while I wait an eternity to get my £125 deposit back, absolute rubbish, wish they had a minus star.

I happily give Jewson Tool Hire 5 stars because they dug me out of big hole into which I was placed by another tool hire company (separate review but NOT five stars). The previous company had failed to deliver on two ocassions and left me with a work team standing on my drive without a tower platform from which to work.
Craig at Chipping Norton didn't have what I needed but called his colleague Gary at Banbury who not only had what I needed but, having listend to my story is, as I write, on his way with the platform we need. So - instead of losing a whole work day the Jewson Tool Hire team have made it possible for me to win back half a day. Thank you Craig and Gary - fantastic service.

Avoid online orders. Rang up my local branch Monday and was told delivery orders are “easier when made online”, obviously the guy on the phone couldn’t be bothered”.

So I made an online order, money was taken from my account and no order went through.

Rang head office they said it must have been a one off and to order again.

Like a fool I followed advice and ordered again and the same thing happened again.

Now waiting on £900 to be refunded. Only one person that I spoke to seemed to be apologetic and everyone else didn’t seem bothered. I have booked time off work to get stuff done and now it is a wasted holiday. Work has been pushed back, plasterers I have had lined up let down, and has has a knock on effect now with everything else.

Never again. Order online elsewhere

Guys guys guys guys guys! I’d never usually write like this as I run a company myself but I truly feel as if you guys don’t actually care about people without an account. How can I be quoted £813.80 for 400 concrete blocks, 2ton of sand and 10 bags of cement? YOU ALSO CHARGED ME £15 DELIVERY WHEN I LIVE 5 MILES AWAY. I went to a building merchants not far from one of your Oxford stores (Blanchfords) and was quoted £691 including VAT which also included DPC also. This makes me feel very unappreciated as a customer and to make it worse I’ve spent £900 in your shop in Wheatley a couple of weeks back to build my shed and can’t help but feel I was ripped off then also. This is seriously naughty guys and I just can’t believe it. Do your blocks have random shots of silver or rubies inside? Very very let down and if I could get a refund for the 2 purchases made a couple weeks back I certainly would.

Great service from the Southampton branch ordered from the website it shows stock level and when they say they have it in stock it is in stock, not like others. Delivery arrived on time and driver was very helpful dropping the pallet as near as he could to where we wanted it. First class service, well done!

Received excellent and helpful service, when I dealt with the Middlewich and Crewe Branch of Jewsons. Robbie from Crewe was absolutely fantastic and delivered a high quality custom cut the same day! Just what I needed given the home emergency I was having. I cannot rate the high enough.

Staff and delivery driver at Dinnington, South Yorkshire branch have been great. I ordered for a delivery due on the very day that the government ordered the lock-down. Staff were friendly and helpful, and made sure that as soon as they got the go ahead (a few days later) i was able to receive my items.

Jewson's in york are always great. Got exceptional service today from Rob at Kettlestring Lane branch in york. He went out of his way to help me hire a cement mixer when another company let me down. Super nice guy. Well done.

I use the Bexhill on sea branch a lot! As a handyman/locksmith I pretty much get everything I need from there and if they dont have it always try to get it for me and usually next day. Everyone that works there are great in that they are friendly, helpful and willing to go that extra mile to sort things out for me you can't ask more than that. The other thing is if I am having a tough day these guys are great at getting you smiling again which is another reason I go there belive me it helps in my game to have a laugh! So a great place to shop and a great staff team especially Dave who shares a birthday with me and several other people I know.

Guildford branch, tool hire. Poor customer service, unhelpful staff when hire tool was faulty, charged in full anyway. Found out they just leased us the workshop tool and and not a serviced/hire ready item. Staff member Just complained he was too busy to help. Def wouldn't go back.

The best builders merchant bar far , I needed materials for a driveway and a front garden project and wanted the best deal , with free delivery at the best price and I wanted it quick ! I went to no less than 4 of the big builders merchants and DIY places, even an independent one , after the hubby thinking they are cheaper and Jewsons Stratford-upon-Avon, were the best on price , really helpful. wanted an early delivery, 8,00 was fab , and they put the large bags exactly where I wanted them , defiantly the place to go. I needed a few more blocks which I went to the Evesham branch and collected and the staff were brilliant and so helpful too !

The one I use is great and have always gone above and beyond. Will continue to use.

Went to the Erdington depot in Birmingham to get a quote for materials for my extension , was eventually greeted by a short little chubby man with grey hair , he really couldn’t be bothered to price some of the items so he asked a little skinny guy with a rat looking face , he hadn’t got a clue and his product knowledge was limited to sand and cement I think !! Matt helped them both out and thankfully answered all of my questions and queries with regards to the build - what a star ! I found out after that the skinny rat faced guy was the manager !!!! God help Jewson if he’s a manager , anyway in the end I purchased everything from Travis Perkins who were spot on !!!

Ok used to think these guys were ok but went in Monday and hired a small breaker because it was convenient , I generally use hire station ,I took it back this morning (Friday) knowing they would be more expensive than hire station so expected to pay about £60. Imagine my surprise when they tried to charge me £138.00 yes £138 for four days hire of a small breaker . I realise I have to pay the weekly rate but still put this in perspective . I lease a bmw 530 estate for less than £400 a month if I had this breaker from jewsons for a month it would cost me an eye watering £552.00 . Absouloutly ridiculous needles to say it’s in dispute till they come back with something sensible . just trying to rip people off it’s not on

I opened a credit account with Jewsons so that my builder could go and get goods when he needed for my house extension. I was given a credit limit of £5,000 and I would receive monthly statements that needed paying in full at the end of each month. If I got close to my credit limit, I would receive a phone call informing me and I would put some money on the account so that the builder could still collect goods. Imagine my surprise when towards the end of the build, Jewsons doubled my credit limit to £10,000 without telling me so my final bill was twice as much as expected. And if that wasn't bad enough, I had to chase them for a statement which I received almost a month later. I had only budgeted for the final bill to be 5000 as that was my credit limit and have had to borrow extra money to cover the debts. Had I known the scale of the bill at an earlier date, I could have made savings in other areas.
