Beautiful handcrafted bed, some simple self assembly was required as with most companies, and communication was great throughout.

We bought a bed from here and I have to say I’ve never had worse service anywhere. Whilst it looks lovely is an actual nightmare.
It was delivered without brackets (he denies this), no instructions (said they are on the website but never told us) and late. I had to chase repeatedly for delivery. Once we erected it with no instructions it creaked so bad we can’t roll over without waking. We tried to rectify this ourselves because dealing with him was hard work from the outset. However, after 5 months of trying to ignore the problem I decided I couldn’t live with it anymore. Wow, the guy was rude, obnoxious & basically said I was a liar and because I didn’t call them immediately they won’t do anything. The best he has done after 2 weeks of emails is sent written instructions which are useless. He’s refused to speak to me on the phone, refused to send photos of what the fittings should look like, has never apologised & quite frankly does not give a poo. AVOID PEOPLE ITS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
Edit following response from David:- I used one swear word basically telling you that you didn’t care. I had never used a swear word prior to that but the frustration in dealing with you led to it. I accepted via email that maybe it was a 4x4 not an estate car it was delivered in but it definitely wasn’t a delivery van, nor on time. Your other reviews confirm this isn’t the first time. I have only repeated myself because you have not listened. I have replaced only 2 brackets out of 8 and the creaking is better in the side in which we have replaced the L brackets. Same old here…I’m just repeating myself. I’ve never been abusive via email, I have requested you speak to me on the phone to help me as your emails don’t make sense and you have refused. You also refused to send any images via WhatsApp of where the brackets should be, a perfectly reasonable request, also denied by you. The only avenue I have left is trading standards, so that’s where I’m going next.

I ordered a bed from these amazing talented guys , and the communication and delivery time was outstanding. The bed I ordered is gorgeous. I highly recommend and will be ordering other furniture off them. Thank you rustic roots

Ordered a king size bed during lockdown which made things a bit difficult for delivery, etc. Seller kept me informed of progress of the order and during the time to fulfil I ordered two bedside cabinetsI was very pleased with the bed and cabinets. Exactly as I wanted.

There have been huge delays to the timber industry, that’s not their fault though, so the bed I ordered was massively held up. That said, that’s not a service issue from the company itself, throughout the whole time they were very informative, kept me up to date. Then finally when the bed arrived it was easy to assemble and feels great! I’m very happy with the final product!

I am very pleased with the Rustic Wood mirror I purchased. The delivery was a little later than anticipated due to Covid and shortages of materials. David was easy to communicate with and dealt with a change of delivery address, caused by the delay, very well.

I received my bed last week. I have to say it is amazing and photos dont do it justice. Its strong and sturdy and the slats are incredibly thick which is brilliant after spending years replacing them on other beds I have had. The finish is great and I love the characteristics in the timber.
Delivery was delayed but who can complain in such an uncertain climate we live in.
I feel I need to touch up on some of the points made in these feedbacks.
The brackets once the bed was assembled are fantastic. There is no creaking and the instructions are simple to find on the website. They are where you would expect in the beds section and it is very easy to assemble taking about 20 minutes for me and my partner.
In terms of communication I found the replies prompt as expected, usually within a day or so. I did try calling David and he responded with an informative text explaining that he was in the workshop and couldn't answer at the time of which we began a text conversation. Personally I found this great as usually if someone doesn't answer you dont get a response back. With communication it is clear to me that he goes above and beyond as even though we had spoken on that day via text he had replied to my email at around 1am which really shows he must have been working long and hard in the workshop.
David Also clarified the delays with the BBC article regarding the timber shortage which put my mind at ease.
Overall I am delighted with rustic roots. The bed is amazing and the courier was very helpful. David catered for my needs with customising the bed how I like and was incredibly informative throughout the order. Also I had cancelled the original delivery date given as I had a family emergency but David rearranged the following week with no issues.
In light of the negative reviews below I disagree with them. David explained they have been running since 2010 and had a few issues due to the pandemic. Which when looking at the dates of the reviews, they are within the pandemic and I believe its people who have nothing better to do then take out their frustrations on small businesses trying to stay afloat in the pressing times. David is clearly a professional and most certainly not cowboys as someone suggested below!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend rustic roots. A small business in a pandemic and with post pandemic issues needs as much support as possible and I feel some other customers expect to be buying from someone like amazon.

Spent alot of time trying to pick the right 'rustic' dining table and we picked right! David was helpful in organising our custom order so we could get just what we wanted. Our new table bench and chairs are just perfect, the wood is natural, chunky and characterful and is clearly solid and well made. There was a bit of an extended wait but hardly unexpected during a pandemic and totally worth it for hand crafted unique piece of furniture that will clearly last years. I was able to contact David when needed, courier was helpful and informative and we were able to put together table once delivered quickly and easily. Would use again for sure, quality furniture, thankyou rusticroots.

Have bought a few times from David at Rustic Roots, we purchased a bed and bedside cabinets about 8 years ago now and they are still as fantastic as the day they first arrived. It’s very difficult when you are a talented craftsman but have to deal with all the day to day jobs a business requires too. I read the reviews and feel they need defended a bit, ok communication can be frustrating but you are buying a hand crafted product at a very sensible price from a small company, not a large business with a customer service department. The product is spot on and they do try their best. I would happily buy from them again.

Our furniture arrived yesterday and is amazing. Furniture is good quality and really beautiful. Just as I imagined. To touch on previous reviews - there was a delay in delivery but that was completely understood due to the pandemic. Communication at first was very poor and it can be difficult to get hold of the company however I appreciate this is a very small business with someone who is often working 24/7 making furniture! - After asking David to please give me a weekly update on where things were with our order he did just this. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Rustic Roots again - it was worth the wait!

Having been looking for top quality beds and accessories to refit my home, I was beginning to despair at the lack of quality & poor value at the "normal" retailers, when I came across Rustic Roots online.

I loved the style of the furniture and the fact that it was made to order, allowing me to get exactly what I wanted. So I contacted David with a few questions and the specification I was looking for. He came back to me very quickly and we discussed the options before confirming exactly what I was after and arranging a timescale to go and collect the beds & accessories in person (Though delivery was offered!).

On arrival at the workshop (Very easy to find), I was amazed at the quality of the workmanship. It was exactly what I was hoping for. David was incredibly friendly, professional and is a true artisan...whether you are looking for a single quality item or outfitting a large room, I couldn't recommend him enough.

I will certainly be back - in fact, we have already started talking about my next project pieces.

Well what a nightmare, I can see why they don’t let you leave reviews on their Facebook page as it wouldn’t run a day as a business!

So I purchased 2 x 5 drawer chests and 2 bedside cabinets from rustic roots in June/July 2020 and paid £1400 for the privilege.

We received the goods on 4th Sept 2020, and on placing the drawers in the units (these are numbered specifically to their place in the unit) there was a 15mm gap between two of the drawers which were 2nd and 3rd down. (It’s advertised they may have gaps but this was out of place and appeared incorrectly built). As we had 2 it was easily comparable (I had no issues with the first drawer unit)

I emailed David with no reply so went through the Facebook messenger and received a reply on 24/9/20.

I provided photos of the gap and was requested to provide measurements and what the issue was (this was done and yet another wait)

It took me placing the website link of the consumer rights act on 17/10/20 to get them to agree to replace the drawer fronts (why does it take so long to agree to replacing them). Also as I believed the knobs provided were not oak as advertised and they confirmed at the time that they had installed different knobs, they agreed to replace all the drawer knobs and the courier collected the drawers but not the units on 21/10/20.

David kept the drawers for 2 months...

On returning the drawers the same gap remained and they refused to replace the drawer knobs as they had got it wrong and were in fact the knobs they use (I think they spell oak as PINE)

They had replaced the drawer front but one that was 2mm larger than the previous and now this front was a different shade to the rest of them.

So I now have one unit with the same gap and a drawer different to the others...

On trying to get some resolve rustic roots have today 15/1/21 agreed to collect the entire unit but if they have a similar problem to last time (i.e. with regards to the drawer knobs that I’m apparently making this up) that they will charge me £80 for the recollection and delivery.

They moaned at how it cost them £80 last time to collect the drawers as if it I’m to blame and how I’d misinterpreted a comment and I mustn’t be able to read what’s been written (cheers David)

Right now I feel having the unit collected again, I’d be without drawers for another 2 months then held to ransom for £80, so don’t feel confident going through the collection process again.

Hindsight’s a wonderful thing but if I can offer any advice it would be go elsewhere, don’t get involved with this company it’s customer service is of a cowboy nature (I have the entire messenger comments saved) and I feel shocked at how a company charging the amount they do can ignore you for months, moan about having to resolve an issue they’ve created and when they do get around to having a go at correcting the issue, return something worse than when it first arrived!

Customer service as rustic as the beds.

Pros:
- Fantastic if you love sleeping without a bed for over two months.
- Great way to test your patience.

Cons:
- Very expensive price to pay to receive thin air in return.
- Yet to see any form of positive customer service.

I contacted David early August and was told to expect delivery by the end of September. During this period, I contacted Rustic Roots several times asking for an update. I was finally informed that my delivery had been delayed until the week of October 5th. I fail to believe that this could not have been known and communicated earlier.

A few more ignored messages and another missed delivery date, David kindly took time out of his clearly very busy schedule to reply after I had asked for a refund. Once again, this was ignored and instead I was informed of another delay, yet David was unable to explain the reasoning behind this. Lucky me, I was promised a delivery "next week". I reiterated that I wanted a confirmed delivery date or a refund and, to no surprise at all, received neither.

We are now going into the third "next week" (and over two months total) so I have given up any hope. For all I care, David could deliver the best bed in the world and I still would not recommend Rustic Roots simply due to the astonishing and unprofessional 'customer service'. At this point I would like a refund so I can purchase elsewhere.

Do yourself a favour and buy a hammock instead.

UPDATE:
David informed me on 20th October that my bed could be delivered the next day. It was delivered around 1pm (3-5 weeks after initially agreed). You need to have some knowledge of furniture building as there is very little guidance, however I am very please with the product as it is made from great, solid wood and looks fantastic. It is a shame customer service lacked as had I not faced this issue so many times I would have rated much higher.

After reading other reviews I was concerned about my order, and was right to be.
First of I have to say the bed and side tables look great, side tables are very well built.
The communication from RRs was awful after they had my deposit, had to chase for delivery, then more chasing and the phone calls were NEVER answered.
However they did arrive the day after they where expected and 10 mins before I had to leave for work ( they knew that was the case....)
The bed came with no instructions and wasn’t very easy to put together, the brackets for the sides are awful, cheap and not suitable. I will have to replace them, not expensive but annoying.
Shame as with a little effort this could of been a 5 star review contradicting the others...... but it’s not

Edit July 2021: believe it or not this company have now flagged my review with Trustpilot claiming that I didn't actually purchase from them. Shocking behaviour. I have sent Trustpilot proof of purchase.

Ordered and paid for a bed on eBay 6 weeks ago. At the time I was told around 4 weeks until delivery Messages later on asking for a delivery date were ignored, then last week David said the bed should be with us this week blaming couriers. I asked him to please try to get it to us this week as our mattress is on the floor and 3 dogs are staying with me this week. I also offered to find a courier myself. He then ignored my messages this week and I had to open a case on eBay. He then issued a refund via echeque which I have to wait 8 days for. Really not happy to have been messed around so much.

Tried to leave a review on their website but I guess it won't get posted since they have to approve each one.

I ordered a custom size bed, here’s why I wouldn’t recommend them:
1) the bed was due to be delivered on a Saturday. I didn’t hear anything by about 3.30pm so asked for a delivery time. I finally heard at approx 4.30pm that it would be delivered at 10.30pm. The eventually delivered it at 11pm. They told me they had struggled to find the house for the first delivery!!

2) When it arrived two of the brackets were bent and one of the legs on the middle support bar was broken.

3) The bed doesn’t have any pilot holes or instructions so you are completely on your own putting it together. I was told there were instructions on the website but I couldn’t find them.

4) The legs on the centre support were cut for the standard size, not the higher custom measurements we had gone for so were way too short. They did offer to send replacements but I cut some new ones as didn’t want to sleep in the floor while we waited for delivery.

5) New legs cut I then discovered the centre support was cut too short by about 3-4cm so back to the shed to cut a new centre support to put the new legs on

6) bed finally up and running.... but it squeaked.... and nobody wants a squeaking bed! I checked all of my fixings and couldn’t get to the bottom of the problem. It turns out the support for the struts, which rustic roots had attached was not solidly screwed to the side of the bed.

Update 1 year on: the bed is as rubbish as the service. It’s now been moved to the spare room.
